  1. Visited Screamfest Burton for the first time on Saturday and was very impressed with the mazes and overall event, maze reviews can be found below in the order I did them in. Freak Out The scariest of the three clown mazes I've done this year thanks to the fantastic actor costumes and makeup, the interactive sections within the maze also added some contrast and a sense of fun. Theming was minimal however the confusing layout and multiple routes made up for this! 6/10 Soul Seekers Fantastic maze which made use of atmospheric lighting changes & good detail on the theming. The actors were top notch, particularly in the first scene,…

  2. With the opening of a certain iconic coaster looming, I rather foolishly decided that I would celebrate the occasion by marking it as my 400th coaster. In order for that fantasy to become reality I was going to need to step up my current UK cred hunting streak... This week's adventure took me to the lovely (it really isn't) seaside town of Weston Super Mare. The first park for today was Animal Farm Adventure Park, which is located on farm land (imagine that) around 15 minutes from WSM. After paying the shockingly low admission fee (currently £9) we were ushered straight in without being given tickets, that might be a first.…

I've been spoiling you lucky lot with my tales of tackling the land of the rising sun and the land of the idol queens. Today it's going to be a little less exciting, but still very important, a creds a cred after all. West Sands Fun Fair https://rcdb.com/9117.htm This gem of a park recently popped up on coast2coaster and instantly became my nearest +1 and my next challenge. An extremely spur of the moment decision, made about half an hour before setting off, is how all good trips start. We picked a great day to do it as well, it only rained heavily for about 75% of the time. In the car (my own personal missile as I like to think of it) …

A few days ago I returned back from a few days at Portaventura. This is a park I had been to once before last year, however two weeks ago I was emailed a very exciting deal for the hotel and park tickets and after a quick search I found some very cheap flights and it was decided, in a week I would be back off to Portaventura! As it was such a last minute trip I couldn’t find anyone to join me, however I’m a very introverted person so I was looking forward to having a holiday by myself and taking it at my own pace. After a sleepless night I was off to Stansted for my late afternoon flight. After being super cautious and arriving nearly four hours before …

Hey guys, today I visited winter wonderland in hyde park and had an awesome time; here is my review of what to ride and what not to ride. So, I started by looking round the angels market, breathing in all the delicious smells and I have to admit the food looked delicious, however the prices were high, extremely high! We headed over towards the alpine adventures zone to start with and noticed the wild mouse XXL going with empty carriages, infact the whole park was absolutely empty! We payed £6 each to ride the mouse and joined the queue(well there wasn't a queue but whatever!) the funhouse features in the queue were awesome however it was rather disappointing that they di…

Hi all, I'm looking to head to Orlando for 2 weeks+ next year - due to work limitations this needs to be early in the year as well. I was originally looking at April, however after doing a bit of research it seems with Spring break this isn't a good time to go. I want to find a month that has nice weather (doesn't need to be scorching) along with the parks being quiet - the latter being the most important over weather. Would any of you be able to recommend a good month and any other general advice for Orlando? It seems International drive is the best place to be in terms of accommodation. Also would you be able to recommend any sites to keep an eye on in terms of …

Forum has been a little quiet for my liking recently, so I'll help spice things up with another trip report. There will no pictures, I didn't take any because I didn't think I'd do a write up, but here we are. Just over a week ago, while my 2 friends were in China (heartless bastards) and my only other friend was wisely avoiding me, I took it upon myself to up my cred count (1 day Benin, you will fall). We start today on 330 credits, let's see how I fair. Started the day with a 2 hour drive to Clacton, you'll remember I got spited quite heavily there recently. Remember this?... Well, on Saturday the 26th of September 2009, The Ride-Guide are re-attempting the infamous challenge at Pleasure Island. This year will see the challenge go national with a host of other websites and forums invited to take part. How many times can you handle riding the Huss Frisbee, 'Pendulus' ride at Pleasure Island consecutively before you give up... or throw up!Places on this challenge may be limited and therefore a lottery style draw out may be used to pick candidates for the challenge...So, are you interested? If so, get your name down in this topic and let the preparations begin.Further details will be given in due course but if you have any quest…

  10. PARK OPEN: 10am - 5:30pm RIDES CLOSED: Flying Cutlass Having not visited for a few years, I was eager to return to Lightwater Valley to see what had changed, and to get back on The Ultimate! The day got off to a good start with a ride on Eagles Claw before the main park opened (10:30am), then straight onto Twister to dodge the queue followed by two rides on Raptor Attack (again before the queue built up) and then we made our way to The Ultimate. The park is in a fairly good state aesthetically with grass well kept, and the countryside setting really adds to the overall feel of the park. With that said, some of the rides looked in need …

Hey is anyone up for this. Its £55 which seems quite a lot, but it sees, to include actual scare mazes, behind the scenes, and loads of other cool stuff. I was tempted to go myself anyway as I'm in the 'industry' so to speak. but thought it would be much more fun to meet and go round with others. Check out the link..... http://www.scarecon.org

  12. So yesterday I took my first trip to Thorpe Park since April 2010, it was a last minute thing and booked the night before as me and my pals had decided whilst in the pub it was something we should do as we all had a day off. Drove down to the park for about 9.50, once we arrived I saw the entrance area was pretty busy. I was expecting a busy day having known college kids had just finished there exams and school trips. waited around outside the entrance for a about 10 minutes, noticed the massive screen, that was cool, defiantly an improvement over what was there before. I also like the new branding, much better then those big head guys and the promotion of pis…

So as part of a choir related tour, I had the opportunity to go to Disneyland Paris. However, as it was one of these school style trips, it was inevitable that the visit would result in huge compromises. To start off, we only had one day in the park. In addition, we spent quite a lot of the morning preparing for a concert (reducing the amount of time we had) and had to have dinner at 6:00 in which we couldn’t stay afterwards (despite being told that we would stay till 9 ish). My ride count was not great: - Hyperspace Mountain x2 - Indiana Jones x1 - Pirates of the Caribbean x1 - Star Tours x1 With regards to the ride…

I've just got back from a quick trip to London to collect my Chinese visa, but owing to the fact tis the season for many showmen from around Europe to bring their toys to various fields in London, theme them vaguely to Christmas and charge £1000000 a pop, it was also time to collect some new creds. With that in mind, after first collecting my visa, me and my friend popped into Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland. You all know about WW, there's entire Facebook pages dedicated to it's existence and some of you even know way too much about travelling rides so I'll keep my review short. - New security checks and set ups were very much welcomed by…

So yesterday I visited Oakwood, a park I'd read and heard a lot about but hadn't actually been to yet. I was really excited about the two main coasters but curious as to what the rest of the park would be like. First off this park is a nightmare to get to. I'm a student in Swansea so got a direct train from there to Narberth then from there you can either get a taxi or walk five miles to the park. I figured out that if I got a taxi both ways it would cost almost as much as my train and park ticket combined so I bit the bullet and walked. The first few miles I had a great time, it was a sunny morning and the countryside was lush but the final mile was down a busy A roa…

If you read my 'More Flags More Fun' trip report you'd know I had meant to meet up with someone to go round the park with but she failed. Well this was an unplanned trip that fixed that! Hoorah. Something that I don't have a picture of is the stunning lake that is literally right next to the rides (Canobie Lake Park.. duh). But yeah it was a beautiful setting. Arrived at 4, left at 7:30 after getting on everything we wanted including re-rides. Untamed This Gerstlauer Eurofighter was my second after Saw so I was naturally expecting a rough ride. I think it has the same layout as Rage, if you've ridden that! It was good! There were one or two 'rattley' t…

We both really enjoyed the meet with TPM back in march and it would be great to see some of you guys again. We will be visiting Fantasy Island on the Saturday, travelling for an overnight stay in Hull Travelodge on Saturday night, and then onto Flamingo Land on the Sunday. If anyone wants to join us, please comment below.

Ended up going to the park on Thursday as Wednesday was insane with winds of 45 to 50mpb, although only the Big One was affected on the Wed, as was the Blackpool Tower down the road. Arrived at the park to be told The Big One would be closed due to high winds (23mph westerly) . About an hour into opening the ride began testing and about 2pm opened. The park itself was nice and quiet and staff very friendly and efficient. Didn't feel operations were poor at all, although only Big one and Avalanche were on two trains. Rest on one (two of four on nash) Overall a very good day and park stayed open until planned time of 7pm Infusion X2 (wasn't rough at the front, but …

Rides Closed: Titan, Superman Tower Of Power, Both Log Flumes Apparantly it was too windy for Titan and Superman, However when purchasing tickets, the ticket is actually available to use every day all the way until September, so on the way back from the road trip we will most likely come back and see if the other rides are open! Okay now to the rides we did First ride of the day was Judge Roy Scream, Sat in the back car, middle row so I wasn't above an axel, this ride was very short but …
