January 20, 20169 yr comment_226717 Don't see what all the hate is about with th13teen. Literally my favourite merlin ride. Th13teen is a decent family attraction in itself, but when it was marketed as a "psychoaster" that would have 16+ age restriction, where you had to sign a waiver and could only ride it once a day, some people just can't trust the press releases any more.
January 20, 20169 yr comment_226718 Paultons says hi: Think it's acceptable for people to moan that the theming just isn't all encompassing, especially given the location of the building in the middle of the park... Yeah most dark rides have bad viewpoints (even Potter), but usually only in one or two spots rather than half of it... Like I said, it's very Thirteen... I was going to bring up the exact same point as you did. I'm sure Paultons are on a much more restricted budget than Merlin are as well yet the quality of the theming seems far superior. With the fact that Merlin's latest developments have majority been a let down in terms of theming and experience, I can only hope that this attraction will truly be a high quality experience. However, considering a smaller park on a much more limited budget can produce what looks to be much more detailed areas and attractions, it's just looking really hard, almost impossible, to think that this attraction will live up to its 40million pound budget. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk I think its hard to judge what Merlin can do here - this is as far as I can think Merlins first big budget dark ride, the theming what we've seen so far looks good and of course the majority of it will be within the building.

This is not only Merlin's first big budget dark ride... but it's Merlin's first big budget attraction. We must remember the new Dungeon cost £25M... this is costing £40M.
January 20, 20169 yr Author comment_226721 ^Glad I'm not the only one heard this has gone up to £40. They are certainly trying with this one hopefully it pays of!

January 20, 20169 yr comment_226723 £40? I certainly hope not! It's alright, the latest rumour I've heard is that they've stretched the budget to £43.30.
January 20, 20169 yr comment_226725 They're filming something today, add their snapchat for behind the scenes footage. https://twitter.com/THORPEPARK/status/689759261266604032 P.S. They have a new snapchat - realthorpepark Looks like they're sat on a train?
January 20, 20169 yr comment_226727 Yep - a tube train judging by the yellow poles... I'm thinking some sort of time travel element to the ride - going from a tube train to somehow that Victorian train carriage.
January 20, 20169 yr comment_226729 I just screenshotted some of Thorpe's snapchat's and I think they blocked me :'( Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk What makes you think they blocked you?
January 20, 20169 yr comment_226731 Advert filming obviously... So much green screen, that'll be coming out the £40 eh?
January 20, 20169 yr comment_226732 Dynamic Attractions retweeted Derren's tweet about the ghost train earlier, confirmation that they're involved?
January 20, 20169 yr comment_226736 I believe Dynamic Attractions retweet several articles and announcements about several attractions, some of which they have nothing to do with. It could be an indicaton that Dynamic ate involved, or just shows how exciting this actually could be within the theme park industry. Either I'd be happy with to be honest.
January 20, 20169 yr comment_226739 Dynamic Attractions retweeted Derren's tweet about the ghost train earlier, confirmation that they're involved? I asked them... @DynAttractions Might you have something to do with Thorpe Park's new attraction this year...? @TotalThorpePark We can't say. Sorry. Predictably inconclusive.
January 20, 20169 yr comment_226743 Dynamic Attractions if involved probably would have only done a minor part of the attraction, there's another company who've done the main showpiece (and most can probably guess who it is, since they've done major work for Merlin before)...
January 20, 20169 yr comment_226745 Surely DA would have just said no if they weren't involved. Why be mysterious if you have no involvement in the project?
January 20, 20169 yr comment_226746 Lots of filming going on today then [emoji102] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
January 20, 20169 yr comment_226749 couldn't the 2 archway sections of the building have these in there? http://www.dynamicattractions.com/adventures/immersive-transporter/
January 20, 20169 yr comment_226756 ^ I think the transporter would be a really nice introduction to the ride as it could easily replicate a train. It's also one of DA's cheapest attractions. What most excites me is the different aspects of the rides. I'm imagining leaving the VR and then entering a maze. Then entering another section and so on. What I'm not looking forward to is the actors who will usher you from section to section.
January 21, 20169 yr comment_226814 http://www.simworx.co.uk/immersive-tunnel/ I would say this - but it's not really the same shape as the building photos. However... looking at the artwork - this ride vehicle may be more like it... http://www.simworx.co.uk/av-fx/agv-darkride/
January 21, 20169 yr comment_226815 In my mind, if Dynamic Atractions are like the B&M of transit systems Simworx are like Zamperla. Is that fair?
January 21, 20169 yr comment_226816 If you're referring to Immersion tunnels... the SimWorx immersion tunnels I've done are fine; they do the job well and provide what they need to. I don't know how one vehicle moving into a wrap around screen differs from another. However - DA seem to have a lot more diverse transit attractions. Depends if you want to support a british company in Simworx - or an Orlando based company in DA!
January 21, 20169 yr comment_226817 In my mind, if Dynamic Atractions are like the B&M of transit systems Simworx are like Zamperla. Is that fair? Simworx are still relatively young in the theme park world, so it's hard to judge. I feel like they'd be more like the Gerstlauer of transits though, in a few years time.
