It's that depressing time of the year again, winter is here, closed season is upon us... but with 2018 just around the corner, at least there's a lot to look forward to!  Which theme parks did you visit in 2017, and how many times?

Still no abroad parks for me, but that will be rectified next year!  I did however reach my 100th coaster, the Rittisberg Coaster in Austria;

https://rcdb.com/13066.htm

I'll start with:

Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 28

Thorpe Park: 6
Alton Towers: 2

Oakwood: 2

Fantasy Island: 1

Paultons Park: 1

Adventure Island: 1

Dreamland Margate: 1

Legoland 1

Bottons Pleasure Beach: 1

Southport Pleasureland: 1

Clarence Pier: 1

Funland, Hayling Island: 1

Chessington: 1

TOTAL: 48

With the 2017 season over, all that's left to say is that I CON't wait for next year!*

*...I'll get my coat!

I hate winter and have done before I got into theme parks but anyway, reflecting back on this year I've done a lot more than I usually would - less visits to Thorpe but 3 new parks visited (2 abroad)

Thorpe Park X 9

Chessie X 4

Legoland X 1

Alton Towers X 3

Adventure Island X 1

BPB X 1

Efteling X 2

Phantasialand X 2

Tulleys X 1

Total 24

Next year will be the usual Merlin stuff - Thorpe and CWOA are fairly close to me and would love to go back to BPB as I really enjoyed it there plus with ICON opening next year (and my love for Valhalla) I'm hoping it will be possible.  Also Towers for SW8.

I would love to go back to Phantasialand and Efteling but in terms of European parks, Europa is one I would love to visit but I have a huge fear of flying ?.

Edit - forgot to add Tulleys ?

Not a terrible year.  Could have been better (missed out on some things up north this year unfortunately), but I'm not complaining.  Winter Wonderland aside, a lack of winter things sadly - wanted to do Winter Phantasia this year but will wait to next now most likely.

Absolute shambolic year for me in terms of UK theme parks:

Thorpe Park: 3

Chessington: 1

Adventure Island:1

And of course a trip to winter Wonderland in December.

However, I did get to fulfill my teenage dreams and visit a certain theme park in Germany:

Europa Park: 2!!

Best rides? Genuine toss up between El Toro (SFGA), Phoenix (Knoebels), and Flying Aces (Ferrari World). World-class, all of them. Special mention also goes to X2 (SFMM), because it's terrifying. On the entertainment front, WaterWorld (Universal Studios Hollywood) is the best Theme Park stunt show spectacle I've ever seen... so good that I enjoyed it twice.

And I thought Taron (Phantasialand) was over-rated. There, I said it.

Can't see a topic for them so just putting here - have now visited Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea. Disneyland was great - if a little small - but DisneySea was incredible IMHO, mainly from the aesthetic of the place and true sense of traveling from one land to another. Mystery Island is amazing to walk through. The American area looks and feels awesome (ToT is bae) - and the staff across both parks are second to none. That's probably more of a Japanese thing perhaps but their enthusiasm, politeness and dedication to waving knew no bounds!

PS. I hate the UK now and never want to come back from Japan :P

It's the bullet trains, some theme parks with their strange entry options and everything and anything to do with driving a car that makes Japan expensive.

Hotels are a steal, local travel is cheap, food is comparable to most places.

For sure Japan has the nicest people in the World. Just be aware that standard falls a bit in Osaka and goes to s**t at Nagashima Spite Land.

Cannot wait to get back and I'm sure you'll be doing research for your return when you come home.
