coastercameron98
I swear RR only had a load of maintenance done a few weeks back just before the chessie meet
TPJames
Yep, that's exactly what happened. Was closed for a while then and reopened and now it's closed again! Seems like its having serious issues...
Fred
Might just be motors blowing, when they replace them one of the newer one/refurbed one is way more powerful than the rest and usually kills the other one. Happened to ripsaw, causing 5 motor blowouts (yes, one went twice) in 2010. It was down for about 4 days for each one, and I imagine chessie takes far longer to solve these issues due to budgets etc.
pluk
RR was just jealous of everyone elses scaffolding and wanted in on the action. Fred, MattyMoo, dragon2000 and 2 others
JoshC.
www.itv.com/news/story/2013-06-16/40-people-stuck-on-rollercoaster/ A story to watch I guess... EDIT: So apparently, Rameses Revenge is a coaster...
Adam P
Cut from the restraints?! I hope not or another ride down for the rest of the year!
Ricky
They just had an interview on Sky News and they said restraints had to be cut through to get them out! This may even be the end of current Ramesis! It's old they should buy a newer version
Cal
Uh oh, firefighters called due to people being stuck for 90 minutes- http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hereford-worcester-22929776
Matt 236
Well I didn't see this coming old Rammy getting broken down to the degree that ride may no longer be able to operate in its current form. On the positive note, least no one got hurt. I'm so glad I was able to go on it at the Chessie meet especially as the ride's future is now uncertain. MattyMoo
The article says firefighters had to cut people free from RR... Methinks it'll be down for sometime then! Glad all are OK!
TPJames
I was expecting something to happen like this sooner or later. Rameses revenge is forever breaking down at the top however it only takes 5 mind for them to lower it down- it only had to be a matter of years before it got stuck there for longer! Shame really, I really wanted to ride when I go this Saturday
JoshC.
http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/LatestIncidentsContainer_16061310.asp#.Ub4dbvnVBlg An article/mini report from the fire brigade, giving a couple more details.
pluk
Is it wrong to find this hilarious? If the report is correct and they have literally cut people out of it I'd say that is the death of this ride. If so I hope Chessington see the value in the type and replace it with the same. Ricky
I too found this quite amusing! I feel sorry for the people that had to wait around 4 hours to get off though....

coastercameron98
Probably just a free fastrack for rameses revenge when it reopens If it re-opens that is, if they've had to cut through the restraints then it probably wont re-open will it because to get new ones fitted will be a hell of a lot of money that Merlin wont spend on Chessington. As Pluk said a few posts back. Edited June 16, 2013 by coastercameron98 Inferno
Inferno
So this means that every single restraint on the ride is now cut in half?! Something must have gone seriously wrong here. Chessington really is rotting away under Merlin isn't it.... TPJames and Matt 236
TPJames
Chessington seems to have fallen to pieces this year. I cannot say if chessington will close rameses revenge altogether but all I can say is I hope that they dont! I would say that they should buy a new, better model however this is unlikely to happen and I guess we will have to wait and see what happens to poor rameses revenge. planenut
Does seem odd that they had to cut the restraints, shame. Hope nobody needed the loo!

Coaster
This isn't good. I really hope that they refurb it or bring in a new topspin because it is a valued attraction in the park and is the only true thrill seeker ride. It's also a brilliant flat ride (although it does have some haters). adstratt
EC!
Would love to hear to the announcement " Rameses Revenge is now open and with the restraints saw'd off a 100% chance of falling out! we hope you enjoy the ride" Something tells me Sky aren't being very accurate with their prediction...
