OldFarmerDean
Finally got a ride on this beast and I'd say probs my third fav flat at the park after Samurai and Rush. I just wish it didn't have such low reliability. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk I would say the reliability is probably better than samurai aha
slendercat
I would say the reliability is probably better than samurai aha [emoji38]Yeah haha but I've been to Thorpe 5 times in the last two years and Samurai has been down only two days while Slammer was only up for the most recent visit. Matt10
Once its up and running in like may I find it to be just as reliable as pretty much every other ride *cough* one train op *cough*
B&MFTW
Went on it on my last trip for the first time. It seemed fairly unreliable as the first time we queued it broke down after one spin. So we went to saw for one ride and it was working then. It is definitely my favourite uk flat as it is unique. I hope Thorpe keep it running, as it does seem like high maintenance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
MattyMoo
Has Slammer been behaving herself recently? It's been YEARS since I've been on, so looking to feel the rotating forces at the FN meet
Cal
She has indeed, hopefully it'll make it to the end of the season again! MattyMoo
Marc
Slammer medals reduced to £1 - what you make of that is up to you! pluk and MachoMachine
Altitude
Please Thorpe Park, destroy Slammer. Actually donate it to Oakwood or something, they need it. Their maintenance is poor too so it'll fit in great there!
OldFarmerDean
Why would you say that, the ride is actually decent! Although I reckon when I go last day of season if it's open I might get on it last ride in case it does go aha! ImLucifer
GladiatorFanKyle
Is Slammer still actually working?! it needs to be scrapped badly
Project LC
Slammer has been working fine. It's the best ride there and should stay. Who doesn't enjoy the full throttle rotating freefall experience. InfernoMartin, OldFarmerDean and ImLucifer
Matt 236
I'm hoping those medals are more-so indicating a possible redesign of medals or even just a random end of season sale, however there is no smoke without fire as I have heard some on/off aggressive rumours of X & Slammer 'possibly' leaving (take this with a pinch of salt) which hope doesn't happen. I'm hoping Slamner doesn't go (yet) as its a unique exciting attraction and though when it's broken it's messed up, the ride works quite reliably when it is running. It's possible following the Smiler, Merlin will be more ruthless with ride running and if Slsmmer suffers another major failure/mechanical failure they will just close it for good. MattyMoo
Pinch of salt definitely for X - what with the recent(ish) retheme and all. Am definitely going to have a go on Slammer a week on Sunday
Coaster
I really hope they don't remove Slammer, it is a fantastic flat and offers a ride experience which is different to anything else. As for X leaving the park, that would be a crazy decision based on its popularity since the 2013 refurbishment.
JoshuaA
TBH I wouldn't mind Slammer leaving.. And come on it isn't like its going to last for the next decade. Also it takes loads of space up so a decent sized flat could fit there, But I see Samurai leaving first though.
OldFarmerDean
The thing is why do people want rides to leave as Thorpe are unlikely to replace them so a pretty silly thing to say really. The ride isn't that bad, and any ride is better than no ride.
pluk
Am definitely going to have a go on Slammer a week on Sunday Planning a ride over a week away? That's damn optimistic as far as Slammer is concerned. I for one will be sad to see it go. With the efforts made over the years I'd hope they'd keep it running now it is running until something major was required again. Maybe the standard winter maintenance is pretty major in itself. Han30
I would hate to see Slammer go - took me a long time to go on it (it looks visually a lot worse than the ride experience itself). I can't see it lasting many more years - is it 10 years now that both Rush and Slammer have been at the park? I hope it doesn't leave any time soon - considering the amount of money they have ploughed into it I would imagine they want to keep it for as long as possible but of course there does come a point where investing money would be pointless if it has massive issues. Also the ride is so unique and there are no other sky swats left (ok I know only 2 were ever made but it's the only one remaining) I can see Samurai departing before Slammer - both Samurai and Slammer are my fave flats at Thorpe but in all honesty I think their time is numbered

Whats the point in pouring loads of money into something which is dead..

Matt 236
I'm in Cabin's queue now and Slammer has been dead all day as far as I'm aware. It's also got a sign outside its entrance explaining its unavailable. The ride may have well packed up for the year now, or worse, for good. Not good. Coaster
