Mark9
Well I suppose Adventurer Services need to get into the rhythm of things too. The real tragedy is no Griffins
HermanTheGerman
Yet it's still got less shut than Thorpe...
Ryan
^ Thorpe doesn't have it's major rides shut though... Quality over quantity comes to mind.
Mark9
Yet it's still got less shut than Thorpe... Jesus man. Both parks should be at full ride availability, they both have four months of closure. Chessington is worse then Thorpe here, its three most popular rides all closed. HermanTheGerman
I think one coaster, four flats, and two water rides constitutes as major...
pluk
I think one coaster, four flats, and two water rides constitutes as major... None of those rides are major at Thorpe. That there's a disagreement about which park has managed to be less worse even before opening day bodes really well for the season ahead, huh? Adam P
If you haven't seen it, Penguins of Madagascar Mission: Treetop Hoppers is the new name for Jungle Bouncers, bit of a mouthful! Strange looking map though http://theme-parks.org/Chessington2015.jpg
HermanTheGerman
See, in some respects I like the new map, but it is just so cluttered and un-navigateable, something which the old map did so well. On the FB crop, it looked so neat and tidy, now its a little bit of an explosion of everything. But hey, at least Scorpion looks like El Diablo. Matt 236
Not sure whether I like or don't like the new map design. Definitely not the worst design though. Treetop hoppers is an interesting name though.
SteveJ
Pops a lot better than the previous design which was getting cluttered and dull with years of revisions. This one's simple, continues the character of the previous and has better colours.
Coaster
What a joke! They have known for months when rides are supposed to be open, with the throughputs there I hate to think how busy the other rides are going to be with the two main coasters and a very popular dark ride closed. Really, really poor show from Chessington here.
Fred
Chessie has decided to do an 06 towers, and go habbo hotel style. Woo! OldFarmerDean
Ian-S
I assume penguins bay is a late opener like the celeb thing at Thorpe, since it was still a building site last week.
Adam P
It should be open for preview weekend apparently.
pognoi
It seems merlin may be doing a spree contract with this particular map designed, as they have designed the legoland ones too. I like the style though! It may be a little confusing due to the open inners but it's very colourful and spaced out.
Merry-go-girl
It's definitely nice to have a new map design. Visually it's pleasing but there are a few smaller attractions that this map will just not help new visitors to find.
Imagineer
Entrance to Land of the Dragons from Explorer Gate is still confusing though!
TPJames
It's an alright new design in my opinion, although I have preferred previous map designs at Chessington. The actual way the map has been executed I dislike however, in no way at all is it going to help first-time guests navigate their way round the park to certain attractions, a lot of pathways/directions are inaccurate to what they would be like in real life when walking around the park. JoshC.
List of closures for the preview weekend, from UK Theme Parks FB I think Rameses is the only we didn't know about that previously? My view is the same it was for Thorpe's closures on preview weekend - it's a preview weekend, the park being open should be considered a bonus. It's a lot harder to defend the park when three of the rides closed are the major rides on park, but hopefully numbers have been limited to reflect this. As a side note, Fury is testing at the moment - so hopefully will be open for when the main season comes around. Hooray!
Ian-S
So how many people are at the park today?
AstroDan
I'm here. Lots shut and Swarm has a 70 minute queue with 1 train. Love Thorpe.
