Kobra looks as if it may be in a major decline of performance or will undergo a large amount of maintenance as it now struggles to make it 2/3 of the way up either end. This means that it does not have the momentum to carry it over the camelback and forcing onboard motors to be used to help it over. When I was last there on Monday, the motor seems to be really struggling and when I was on, the motor cut out early and nearly ended up leading to a stall. It's even worse when you hear an operators concern about that very issue as you are leaving through the exit.

I had my yearly visit to Chessington today and really wasn't impressed.

Throughputs are a huge issue now, which for a park that suffers at the best of times really isn't good.  A few examples are;

 

Rattlesnake dispatching a car on an average of every 65 seconds.  It was strange, as it was usually a minute gap every time, however on occasions it was only 40 seconds, yet at other times it was up to a minute and a half!  That ride is capable of dispatching after a car has left the lifthill so to be running it that slowly is nonsense!  Furthermore, the queue from the end of the cave took 55 minutes (advertised as 25 on the queue board when we joined it).  I remember when it took 15 from there!

 

Vampire was leaving a three minute gap between trains.  Again, appalling when the queue time is advertised as 90 minutes!

(Just to be clear, we looked at the throughput from Bubbleworks' queue and decided against going on it).

 

Fury was dispatching a lot slower than it is capable of, it seemed to be roughly every 40 - 45 seconds from what I could tell.

 

Tomb Blaster was running three trains but stacking all three at times, meaning that the queue moved slower than I've ever known it to!

 

Elsewhere, Zufari seemed to only have two/three trucks running meaning that the queue hardly moved, Bubbleworks and Dragon Falls were shifting queues reasonably well as usual and other rides were understaffed, for example Monkey Swinger only having one staff member on the entire attraction, I remember when they had 2/3 people!  This meant that throughput was horrifically slow even on that, as one person cannot do the job of more!

 

One more point I want to make is that despite some areas having some new paint (Vampire, Sea Storm), the park as a whole still looks badly neglected.  Rattlesnake and Tomb Blaster's queueline & surrounding area in particular stood out as areas that desperately require attention, which for the latter really isn't good considering that it has supposedly had an upgrade for this year!

Good lord they're awful. Tomb Blaster on three trains in the Easter Holidays (that's its minimum by the way), Zufari on two or three, Rattlesnake taking 55 minutes from the cave, management must be embarrassed surely? You have to question if they even consider guest experience at all. I feel sorry for anybody who visits these days.

 

It gets worse year on year, yet the park do nothing about it. Its a wonder they get any trade at all anymore. But its ok guys, a bunch of pandas on some garden decking from B&Q, or a "stage" as they like to pretend, will sort all that out. Never you worry.

You call it crappy - I seriously almost chundered on it once - not because it is intense but I had just had a particularly spinny ride on Fury - I think I would have died of embarrassment had I blown chunks. Thankfully I have discovered the wonders of motion sickness drugs now.

Also - someone taking a wee.....in a station? Um that is grim. I've needed a pee in a queue line before but never thought "ooh I'll go here" - yes I know it's easier for males and more discreet but heck I think I'd rather wet myself. Pretty sure if you get caught urinating in a public place it is an offence?

Chessie sounds pretty bad at the moment and I'm in no particular rush to visit. Such a shame as it used to be a great park in the 90s.

haha it's not like I go round the indoor queue line licking the entire walls - that would be pretty nasty (though it could do with a clean in there)  :ph34r:  I once put my finger on what can only be described as....snot..... on Inferno when pulling down my harness - I very nearly :bad:

Sod the rides, it's all about the pandas!  :wub:  but seriously that is bad, operation wise.  I've had a gander on their FB page and it would  appear that if you are having a *** time at Chessie you have to queue for about 2 years to make a complaint at guest services.

The guest services queues over Easter were ridiculous. Glad they've introduced the table outside for rap.
