Toby Tidal Wave
Replace Truckers and area in front of with a driving school, popular at Towers and Legoland so can't see why with Jeep themed cars! There would then be able to be a path down by the side of AS to LOTD. Problem solved!
Fred
I understand they wanted to keep the Dragon area self-contained bu the section behind the building feels so dull! They should of made the path carry on and exit toward Vampire so they area is a U rather than being a dead end. Nothing wrong with having a one area entry for small kids - cbeebies land is doing exactly that. Helps the lost children prevention. Just really poor planning, could've opened it all out had the building run alongside the area and everything around the outside with a large space in middle. Instead they killed off half the land by the placement of playhouse and capers.
jon81uk
I think the building that's now the dragon playhouse was already there so couldn't of been placed elsewhere, placing the entrance to canopy capers around the back of the land may have helped as well
SteveJ
The cafe building already existed (it used to be part of ToyTown) but I think the playhouse shed thingy was a new structure. Where Action Man was is a bit of a mystery to me. I remember it being so large, like a winding labyrinth in a hidden pocket of the park. But looking at the footprint of Land of the Dragons now, it must have been pretty tiny!
Benin
Playhouse and Capers' designs is WORSE than Zufari's... A complete waste, especially given the Action Man play area was varied and generally amazing... But it's ok, Chessie knew what they were doing when they installed the disabled lift access for Capers...
OldFarmerDean
not sure if it's already been mentioned but does anyone know if rameses, bubbleworks or runaway train will be open in time for the season or at a later date?
Matt 236
So, looks like Bubbleworks was damaged after all. https://scontent-b-ams.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/t1/1604523_610576705664299_1692833316_n.jpg?dl=1 Photo courtesy of Themepark Guide. Mattgwise
Lets just hope they dont decide to remove that part of the building and have the fountain finale outside! After all Merlin arent a fan of darkness

SteveJ
The exterior wall was damaged in the fire (we knew) and has now been demolished, in order for a new wall to be constructed. (Obviously the fire did not actually melt the wall.)

Creaky Cafe has been removed and it's very likely it's footprint will remain empty for 2014.
coastercameron98
Well, some of my faith in the Scorpion Express has been restored. The ride is apparently on schedule for its March opening and is supposed to feature fire effects according to this report. http://www.themeparkguide.biz/news-page/15th-february-2014-chessington-half-term-report
Benin
A report with so many glaring errors makes me dubious of such things happening... Besides, even if they do, they'll be broken in a day...

But as you say, I can't see them lasting very long either...
Merry-go-girl
Welcome to Chessington world of construction. I can't see the fire effects lasting a year, the water effects will go on the to do list for a few decades till they're ready to retire the coaster for good. Adam P
To be fair the "Promotional Artwork" does suggest both Fire and Water effects, although if ZUFARI water effects are anything to go by...!

But as you say, I can't see them lasting very long either... The thing is (especially in my experience of Chessie and other parks), is that things said by the managers can and will change... So many plans and ideas never see the light of day whilst some just change down to the lack of budget (see Zufari finale)... Such poor reporting though doesn't help, even if they spoke to the right manager... Adam P and SteveJ
Mark9
We have a cactus. The thing is closed for eighteen months and we get a bloody cactus. That's the extent of Chessingtons work so far. Just astounds me. And yes I am being unfair. Coaster
I'm very disappointed by this effort, considering that the ride has been shut for a whole season plus a closed season! Fire effects my arse, if they do appear they won't last longer than a few days! As for the queueline being a bland cattlepen - sums up Merlin tbh. Where it's not a necessity to spend, they won't bother. dragon2000
Merry-go-girl
^ I believe your disappointment comes from the apparent lack of effort. dragon2000

Chessiekid
From what I've been told there is still a lot more to expect from Scorpion Express (though I am now worried that they seem to be leaving it rather late). I know its very hard but lets just try to keep a bit of faith in Chessington, they might just suprise us all a little.
TraX
The park are always going to say 'there's more to expect'.. Whilst the Mexicana re-paint is a great thing, a flat cattle pen queueline.. no tunnel to interact with the track, and a backdrop, which is only there (or will only be there) to hide the staff road around the back, is all a little underwhelming. Fire and water effects, as everyone has already touched on; will be gone in a month or two. The train is currently being painted a rust colour in Wild Asia, it's all only coming together now - last minute. Whilst yes, Market Square is a great thing opening it up (and adding a nice detail), I can't help that falls still looking like rubbish, and what looks like a shadow of it's former self at Runnaway, all feels like a punch in the face. Both attractions in their day were top class. I know it's not always good to look back, and we should go forward, but boy oh boy... they have stepped down in their scale. As I've said, if it's pulled off I will be thrilled. If not, then Merlin Magic Making should hang their heads in shame.
