Charlesberg
Saw the ride is beast. When it's closed it is like the death of a pet but when it opens after it's been closed it is the best thing ever. The indoor drop really gets first time riders surprised (it freaked me out on my first time as I was in the back row unable to see the drop)
planenut
Saw is made by the same manufacturer as Smiler, so don't be surprised if it gets closed for examination and comparisons tomorrow.
Ian-S
They need to establish the cause first, but in this era I wouldn't be surprised if they shut it down as a precautionary measure anyway.
Whatever
Didn't they do the same for Rush when another Sky Swing broke? I don't know if it would be the same because one is a coaster and one is a flat plus different manufacturers etc.
Project LC
I don't think rush was closed when skyhawk's cable's snapped. Skyhawk wasnt closed very long, it opened 2 weeks later.
GladiatorFanKyle
No as the Eurofighters have nothing wrong with them. Karacho in Germany might get shut down as thats a infinity coaster but doubt Saw would get shut
Daniel.S312
I remember seeing Rush closed rest of a season and into start of the next season because of that falling part as it was all boarded up.
Mark9
I wouldn't be surprised if Saw closes or a brief period, Spinball did the same during Fury's incident a few years back.
alexander
hopefully SAW will close and never re-open Marhelorpe, Project LC, Adam P and 2 others
pluk
I'm sure the powers of Gurst and Merlin have a pretty good idea of how this incident happened already, I'd imagine if it is something that could be repeated under the same circumstances on Saw (or other Eurofighters/Enigmas) they'll close for whatever upgrade is necessary. I'm also sure if they don't have to shut Saw then they won't, the last thing they'd want is for the media or public to link the Smiler event with other rides; it'll be damaging enough for Towers without it tarnishing other parks in the public's mind. Daniel.S312
Looks like Saw The Ride isn't open so far via https://queue-times.com/park/thorpe-parkso they obviously doing it as precautionary messure.
pluk
May or may not be related. If they use the same systems for block control, and they truly do not understand how the crash happened, it would be the right thing to do until they know it's safe. Ryan
Still not open, looks like it could be related in that case.
MattyMoo
Thorpe's twitter confirms Saw is closed all day.
JoshC.
Thorpe's Twitter has stated there are no planned closures for tomorrow, so Saw will presumably reopen then.
Ian-S
That thing can cause permanent damage to your spine without being broken It felt more like I was getting a free vasectomy when I went on it.
Altitude
It felt more like I was getting a free vasectomy when I went on it. Umm, not sure how you were sitting on the ride but I think you should maybe see a doctor about that.
JoshC.
It felt more like I was getting a free vasectomy when I went on it. If that's the case, don't ever try Shockwave at Drayton.
Whiteknuckle
Prefer Shockwave to Saw anyday.
Ian-S
Umm, not sure how you were sitting on the ride but I think you should maybe see a doctor about that. LOL, might have been Rush I was thinking of, or that other one where the shoulder harness comes down automatically like a guillotine. But Saw was bloody uncomfortable. Adam P
Still no Saw today, seems a bit strange I know it's all Merlin but when Oakwood have posted a picture of Speed they obviously aren't closing that.
Project LC
Speed was closed yesterday however going by their twitter its opened again today.
EC!
Doesnt say anywhere Speed was closed yesterday, but I can understand why it was if it did.
Coaster
Still no Saw today, seems a bit strange I know it's all Merlin but when Oakwood have posted a picture of Speed they obviously aren't closing that. It's probably (and this is just a guess) because Oakwood only ever run Speed on one car anyway unless you are very lucky, sometimes you end up waiting two hours there on one car operation. Therefore, I can only assume that they were running the ride on one car so that there wasn't any potential danger of a similar incident. Speed was closed yesterday however going by their twitter its opened again today. They tweeted someone yesterday saying that it would be open, did this change? Project LC
I was told by someone who was apparently at oakwood yesterday that it was closed. Coaster
