Joegibbon
I thought the point of a ride it first competition was to be the very first people to ride it (other than staff) not the first people after a bunch of celebrities and RAF pilots... TraX
I can honestly say that I have never seen so much excitement in 30 years over anything at Thorpe as this.Goes to show what a quality product can, and will do for the park. Saz
Is it just me, or are the fences between each gate meant to represent the back of church pews?
Stokesyboy
I thought that too when I looked at it! Themeing looks awesome!
Benin
I said last year that Merlin are turning a corner...This proves it without a doubt, they've done back to the early Tussauds style, and it will pay dividends to how the parks begin to look in the future...It's almost a shame one side of the station will start looking like Inferno's volcano due to the lack of roof after a few times of heavy rain though... But I'd like them to put those gates on Vampire now please...
Sheepie
Sweet Lord. :oThat station is phenomenal, I seriously cannot criticise anything; it is perfection. It just shows what £20M can do without any IPs to pay out for.Merlin and I are off to make a lustrous love-baby now. I'll set them free when they have to start work on SW7. Wow. Valentez
Posted on Thorpe's website They also posted pictures with them on the ridePaving in a station?! lol love it and it seems to blend so well with the wooden parts of those air gates :DI wonder if those speakers will play anything special as each train departs the station? JackR
Wow, this looks immense. Only thing I would say though, does this not look too 'new' to any of you guys? Don't get me wrong I love it and it looks incredible, but after the Church roof has been ripped off, doesn't it all look a bit to spotless and tidy? I know Thorpe can only make the station look destroyed to a certain extent due to H&S but I do hope the themeing is scolded and burned like the plane fuselage just to make this devastation a bit more realistic. AdamY
The beams have been burned severely, the walls looks to have been treated to a similar but slightly lesser effect, and the floor will weather quickly anyway with heavy footfall - it's fine in my book! Liam T
Them Gates :wub:Nemesis? The Swarm is the best themed rollercoaster in the Uk IMO! 21 days to go!
Ricky
You know it's incredible, when the only thing you can fault is that the wheels are too bright and don't quite match I thought this made a positive effect, makes it look like 'The Swarm' has fangs ... Random though going back a while, someone mentioned that they wished it was like Raptor with one head and the rest being body. My theory is that there are multiple heads to accommodate The Swarm story. its a trail of monsters swarming around the island, so essentially the train is 7 monsters following each other. trippy
Oh my days! I cant wait to ride this! does that mean you queue over the track to get to the other side or are they going to let a certain number of people over each time? Just because there's devastation going on, and an alien race are attacking, it doesn't mean EVERYTHING is going to be damaged. Like one of the outside walls which some people were saying was 'too white'; even if a building's roof has been taken off, it doesn't mean everything has to look ruined. I think the floor adds to surroundings, and will age 'well' and suit the theme all the more. Also, the slight contrast in destruction and odd bit which is 'in tact' will make the destroyed pieces look even worse, if you get what I mean. I cant wait to ride this! does that mean you queue over the track to get to the other side or are they going to let a certain number of people over each time?Depends if they do the same as Raptor or not, and batch people into the station or just let it be the usual dash around... Considering this is now meant to have a front row queue, I would guess it does have the chance to queue above the station..
Sidders
I doubt the tiled floor will actually look better with age - I don't see how chewing gum and bird poo are going to make it look more destroyed by an alien race?
Bubbles1
The swarm need to poop every now and then. Maybe that's their way of marking territory? alexander
alexander
that interior is so nice! I'm really impressed so props to thorpe, I was just thinking that'll be such a shame when there's heavy rain that it will ruin the theming but then I remember it's an apocalyptic theme so the rotting wood is only going to add to the authenticity of the theme! Saz
I just came to my attention that the picture of the station interior was taken from the ride control box - an upturned lorry.
