TraX
This all just reminds me of a time when someone said here ageeees ago that the coaster near loggers (which we now know is Saw) was going to be like Air. Something Along the lines of Air is coming to Thorpe Park. There was a B&M flyer planned over the Loggers lake and what is now the Saw area, concept art had been created and all (brown track, eagle type theme I believe). However as already discussed, plans can easily change for reasons unknown to us. Staff find out all kinds of info, and marketing even ask staff to leak certain stories sometimes too. At the end of the day, things can change and we won't know this for a while. Cross Valley would be an enormous surprise as almost everyone apart from us are against it! JoshC.
Dare I say launched woodie? We know Merlin's obsession with a killer image and tagline and Towers' history of world firsts. Would make sense with the 'sound tunnels' too. I guess only time will tell, but that certainly does indicate wood is on its way...
Coaster
It's coming up with the "this page cannot be found" link, is this the same for anyone else? EDIT: Found the link, it's exciting but I'm not going to get excited yet, wasn't it them who tried to tell us that The Smiler would have a washing machine element if I remember rightly? Really hope they finally get a wooden coaster!
AstroDan
We're reporting it on Towersstreet too - been widely rumoured for months now so they're certainly intending on a wooden coaster. After all these long years. TraX

Coaster
Launched RMC. I hope not, I would much rather see an all round good coaster rather than another one that relies on gimmicks. However, this isn't to say that a RMC wouldn't be good, I haven't ever been on one but they don't appeal to me as much as traditional wooden coasters. Dan9
A launched RMC would hardly be a gimmick because that has no selling point to the general public. It would just be a way for the ride to gain sufficient speed to last a decent length circuit, which is surely something everyone would want no? Nosferatu
People have been talking about an Alton woodie for yonks yet it has never happened. Would they finally build one after all these years of wanting? Woodies are awesome so hopefully it's true.

AstroDan
What people fail to recall was that the gimmick on The Smiler wasn't the main focus of the marketing. It may have taught Alton Towers that they don't need a gimmick...
Matt 236
This needs to happen, I love wooden coasters, they are just so much fun and would be great if the UK receives another one after nearly 20 years. With food loop and this type of coaster potentially happening, I'm hoping towers will start going up hill again.
pluk
Much excitement. Much potential for planners to tell them to piss off. Good luck Towers, if this really is what it sounds like it is I have a feeling you'll need it... BenC and Whiteknuckle
Benin
"Wooden Truss Construction" To me, that sounds more like a Hybrid than say a GCI/GG style coaster... But then again, a decade ago we were all hyped at the potential of a cross-valley woodie, and that just didn't happen... Once it starts being built, then one can get excited... Deleted Users
Wait, the plan is to build a wooden coaster next to a Skyride station? yeah, Mark9, Matt 236 and 3 others
pluk
Wait, the plan is to build a wooden coaster next to a Skyride station? I'm sure that'd be a fine location for a major wooden structure, those stations are not in the least bit flammable. TraX
Screamscape mentions that 'a trusted source' has told him SW8 is on hold, or may never come to be, as they deal with The Smiler blacklash.. Truth, or just Screamscape?? I expected this to be delayed, but hope that it's not shelved completely.
Benin
Surely, the park would want to push forward with SW8 in order to get the positivity back into the place? They did say it was an Intamin though, which isn't what I've heard... Plus Flume rumours have been going around for YEARS...
HermanTheGerman
That's a load of rubbish I reckon. The Flume's got a good few years left (scarily), and they've certainly got the manufacture wrong. As Benin said, I'd imagine they'd want to push forward with the development, to allow for a new major coaster to shadow The Smiler. They'll want something else to take the spotlight basically. Anyway, I'm not entirely sure it can be a trusted source. In my eyes, if anybody has been told anything of sorts, there is no way they would be allowed to post about it as a trusted(ish) source. Sensitive topics like this will always be kept close the to people involved and no one more.
