  1. Started by Matt N,

Hi guys. While it’s probably one of the lesser known defunct UK theme parks these days, I’m led to believe we have quite a few people on here who grew up in the UK in the 1990s, or were more generally around in the UK in the 1990s for that matter, and know about Mr Blobby and Crinkley Bottom in Cricket St Thomas, Somerset. So I was intrigued to know; did anyone ever visit this park in the brief period it operated? And if so, what did you think? I must say it’s a park that looks intriguing, and quite a strange one to imagine as someone who wasn’t alive in the 1990s. As someone who mainly knows Noel Edmunds as the host of Channel 4’s Deal or No Deal, I can never…

Hello there. I applied for my first job last week, a Guest Experience Assistant Weekend role at SEA LIFE. Was very pleased to receive an email today saying I've been invited to the assessment centre. Does anyone have any idea what sort of things they will ask in the interview? I'm pretty confident with the team working exercises, just not too sure how to prepare for the interview as it'll be the first I've ever had. Any help people could give would be greatly appriciated.

With the parks soon closing does anyone know what the rides are like here?

  4. Hi guys. Since Tussauds' purchase of Thorpe Park in 1998, Chessington & Thorpe Park, two of the UK's largest theme parks, have operated under the same corporate umbrella (Tussauds from 1998 through to 2007, Merlin since 2007) within very little distance of each other; both parks serve the London area, and they are only a very short drive away from each other. Tussauds' initial reasoning for purchasing Thorpe Park was in order to eliminate Chessington's closest competition within the South (Thorpe was a family park to the same, if not a greater, extent than Chessington at the time, and as John Wardley put it, Tussauds' mentality was one of "if you can't bea…

What do you get if you mix the London Dungeons, Derren Brown's Ghost train and a £70 (average) price per person ticket? Glad you asked.... You get a 2hour, 20 odd scene story rendition of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds, an excellent story with a premise of these metal alien human killing robot machines, as seen in Woking. As a fan of the story seeing the arena show and music maybe 3 times now, it was refreshing to see the concept transformed into an interactive experience promising VR, simulators and live actors. But why do I compare to the Ghost train and dungeons? Well because many of the scenes were a bit like something I had experienced in…

  6. A new ITV attraction at media city in Manchester (formerly the Lowry centre) Based on I’m a celebrity, it opens at the end of July. This looks set to be a bigger version of the indoor attraction that was at Thorpe. Set design from Scruffy dog. https://www.imacelebrityjunglechallenge.co.uk

From facebook Theme park logic: Breaking news: Company behind Fantasy Island goes into administration The company which owns an amusement park in Skegness has gone into administration. Conduit Skegness Limited, and associated group trading companies, own Fantasy Island - which includes theme park rides, Europe’s largest permanent seven-day market and 340 static caravan pitches. The business will continue to operate as usual while the administrators review the company’s financial position, and no job losses are expected among permanent staff. The seasonal temporary expansion of the payroll during the summer holiday season will also continue as usual. Paul Clark a…

I couldn’t find a thread for Coney Beach, so I’ve started one. Not sure how many people have even been to Coney Beach here, but it’s somewhere I’ve been quite a few times since I was little and they have my favourite KMG Afterburner I’ve ever been on: Beach Party! I started this thread because I noticed that Beach Party looks to be up for sale online *cries* (so if anyone wants to buy it for me, I’ll give you free rides on it in my garden ) Jokes aside - if Beach Party really does leave Coney Beach, I will be so sad!

Looks like the Thorpe Park Twitter have begun slipping in a few misplaced 0’s into their tweets - innocent mistakes? Or something a little more exciting.... EXHIBIT A: EXHIBIT B: EXHIBIT C : MOD EDIT - Speculation for 3 pages, confirmation of what 'Project Zer0' was from page 4.

The annual Knutsford may day fair is now open until the 6th May. It has over 100 attractions. Probably the best new ride I've seen is this Megaspin. It's like a cross between a Sky Swat and a Disk'o.

May as well start a thread for this. For Merlin's sake, hopefully it ends up being a bit more popular than the Shrek's Adventure thread ey.. Opening in 2018 in Birmingham, The Bear Grylls Adventure is a mixture of an indoor and outdoor adventure course. It'll be a family attraction, and I think it'll have different levels of adventurous things to do for all the family. It's actually representing a significant investment (around £20 million), which I think is much more than any of Merlin's other midways? As with Shrek's Adventure in its first year, it is expected that you don't get free access to this with a Merlin Annual Pass, though some form o…

So here we go... enough people have ridden both to vote now so which do you prefer? Is it Mack's finest at Blackpool, an airtime filled machine that dives in and out of other rides at Blackpool or the intimate, well themed, atmospheric Wicker Man which sees a return to form for an Alton Towers rollercoaster. Which is your favourite?

Saw this scare event near Bluewater in Kent. Never heard of it before, has anyone been or know anything about it? Seems to have several mazes and won some awards a few years back. I guess it’s a smaller version of tulleys. Cheers! https://www.spookycastle.co.uk/

So I'm sure a few of you might have heard whisperings about a new attraction coming to Greenwich in London at the end of this month. At Scarecon Deathcell was heavily featured and teased after a hugely successfull kickstarter campaign. Looking at the website and announcements the following information is avalaible... Approx. 30 minute live-action Escape Room experience. Combining immersive theatre where the guest truly decides their own fate, mixed with a classic intense ‘horror maze’ experience. Those curious enough to undertake Deathcell will be pushed to their limits, forced to make unprecedented choices that will affect everyone in the expe…

So QUEXTREME is returning for its 3rd year this year at Quex Park in Birchington. Having done it every time I can safely say it is probably the scariest of all the horror events I have done. Theres only 3 mazes however each one lasts about 15-20 minutes and you’re sent in small groups. They’re all outside with one being in a cornfield, one a forest and one big one which incorporates different areas and a big, theatrical storyline. Last year one of their mazes was nominated for a scare tour award for most innovative ending; this involved everyone being bundled into a London Black Cab with a stunt driver who flung you around in a field w…

Carters Steam Fair is the most wonderful travelling vintage fair. It's set up in Maldon today, if you find yourself nearby I thoroughly recommend you go. The rides might be ancient and powered by steam, but don't let that fool you! The Steam Boats are probably the most genuinely dangerous (and therefore properly thrilling) ride operating in the UK, they are incredible. Unfortunately the Divebomber and Giant Octopus aren't touring this year, I'm really going to miss them. Little facebook video from today in Maldon gives a good idea of the set up. <iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.c…

Unless I'm being blind there doesn't seem to be a thread for Warick Castle. Does anyone actually go there? Would presume so, what with it being on the MAP. Anyway, they've managed a decent bit of self publicity with this news story. I take it they use some pyro in their shows then?

  25. Hello Members of Thorpe Park Mania, I know this isn't really Thorpe park related but it is theme park related. I consider myself to be probably the worlds biggest fan of Trauma Towers, however there is a significant lack of information and photos (particularly of the inside the attraction) online. This is pretty disappointing for me as you might imagine so I decided to create this forum because I would like to see the photos you guys have got of the attraction along with any information you may have of it. I am also particularly interested in the attraction previously located in it's spot 'The Haunted Hotel', there's basically no information about it online aside fro…
