Forum has been a little quiet for my liking recently, so I'll help spice things up with another trip report. There will no pictures, I didn't take any because I didn't think I'd do a write up, but here we are. Just over a week ago, while my 2 friends were in China (heartless bastards) and my only other friend was wisely avoiding me, I took it upon myself to up my cred count (1 day Benin, you will fall). We start today on 330 credits, let's see how I fair. Started the day with a 2 hour drive to Clacton, you'll remember I got spited quite heavily there recently. Just when you thought it was safe to get back on the forums, I'm back, back from Scarefest no less. Our story begins with me dropping my friend off at the car hire place, so he could rent a spacious beast for all his work related crap, it turns out Merlin have acquired the place because it took us 45 unorganised minutes before we were ready to set off. On route to our hotel in Stoke we decided to grab the cred at... PARK OPEN: 10am - 10pm RIDES CLOSED: Avatar Airbender, Crazy Daisy (for the stage). Firstly, it was fantastic to see BPB so busy, I don't think I have ever seen it so busy in 11 years of visiting and the atmosphere was fantastic. As for the Halloween event, it was good but I came away feeling like BPB could do so much more! When you see parks that have only just re-opened (Dreamland) or much smaller than BPB (Pleasurewood Hills) putting on two or three full scale scare mazes, BPB's effort at a horror maze really does feel a bit sad. I actually felt that the Chinese Puzzle Horror Maze was better last year as there were actors and more props, this year…

So as part of a choir related tour, I had the opportunity to go to Disneyland Paris. However, as it was one of these school style trips, it was inevitable that the visit would result in huge compromises. To start off, we only had one day in the park. In addition, we spent quite a lot of the morning preparing for a concert (reducing the amount of time we had) and had to have dinner at 6:00 in which we couldn’t stay afterwards (despite being told that we would stay till 9 ish). My ride count was not great: - Hyperspace Mountain x2 - Indiana Jones x1 - Pirates of the Caribbean x1 - Star Tours x1 With regards to the ride…

It's been a long seven years since I last visited the Pleasure Beach. Back when I was a 17 year old I hurt my back viciously on the Big One, got thrilled within an inch of my life on a rainy Grand National, spun on Spin Doctor, Dazzled by Bling and thrown into another galaxy on Space Invader. But how had the park changed since 2005? Compared to my 2005 trip, the weather was beautiful. Sure it was dark and gloomy compared to the sunny South but it wasn't raining which really helped the atmosphere. One thing though, the park was very busy but thanks to the huge amounts of rides, shows and attractions queues were kept on the lowish side. So where to start? Oh yeah The …

TRIP REPORT - 6th and 8th April 2013 Firstly, I would just like to mention that after not being able to visit Pleasure Beach for a whole year it was amazing to be back at the park for two days! I now prefer the woodies to the steelies overall, although PMBO is still the best coaster in my opinion (Just!) Although the ride operation was an absoloute farce on both of the days I was there. (Now known in our family as "The sandbag ride" hehe). I was very dissapointed, I only go once a year so only getting on three times in two days was not good. (Was closed for most of Saturday and then half a train open on Monday. Not acceptable.) Grand National and The Mouse were both run…

So, from 2-6 April I spent a week in Blackpool with family and friends, this was my first visit to Blackpool, and we had a great time. We didn't really anticipate that there would be so much to do in Blackpool, we ended up doing something every day with stuff still left to do, a great excuse to go back again next year or sooner! Revolution is looking very nice in it's new colours, they were painting continuously throughout the week, removing the scaffolding quickly too. On the Monday I went into PBB for an hour or so just to do the Big One... You can read my review of that in the main PB topic. On Tuesday we did as many Merlin attractions as possible, and did all …

Tulleys farm is one of the biggest scare attractions of 2012! With 6 mazes and many roaming we were in for a fright as we arrived at tulleys farm's preview night! Below are reviews of 5 mazes! Due to the fact that the review has spoilers, the whole reviews are going to be in spoiler tags! Enjoy Sadly due to the fact that I am not 15 I was refused entry into the maze! Bit of a bummer actually as 15 is a 'recommended age' not a set age!

So, I have been up to see Ben for the past four days and during that time we went to Fantasy Island, Skegness and Alton Towers. I thought rather than doing just a Towers trip report, I may as well mention FI and Skeggy, plus the Capriolo we went on at a fair on the way back, it totally deserves a mention! Fantasy Island...hmm well it was fun, that's all there is to say really! The rides aren't bad, the place is a bit random though; they have a market there which makes it feel pretty tacky and you get some strange, shouty people! And it's quite strange seeing a main road basically going through the place! My favourite ride there was probably The Beast, best topscan I'v…

So my annual trip to Alton Towers occured over the Diamond Jubilee and for the first time in 5 years we visited Warwick Castle and Blackpool Pleasure Beach. We set of Saturday morning to the hotel when my dad surprised us with a visit to Warwick Castle. It's such a great place. Every staff member is in costume which just makes the place so unique (for Merlin anyway). As we only had 3 hours to spend there we passed on the Castle Dungeon and Merlin Tower thing and headed straight for the birds of prey show whci were all eagles. It was a great show and they really make the eagles fly low over your heads which makes everyone duck and dive. We were told that one of the eagles …

Two fresh new parks this time, Hansa which I knew very little about and Heide, Merlins German endeavour. Travel to both is easy and both very accessible from Hamburg. I'll start with Hansa Park. Hansa Park is a delightful little park with big ambitions and a great working relationship with Gerstlauer. In it lies a euro fighter, an infinity coaster and a family coaster. All delightfully realised and with great stories. Our first ride though was a Maurer wild mouse, exactly the same as Rattlesnake. It was a little bit more heavily trimmed but looks good. Our next stop was Karnen. This thing is a beast. The only other ride that makes me th…

After saving up our Tesco Clubcard Vouchers for a long time, we used them up on some Merlin passes. The plan was was 3 fold. 1: Over the period of a week, during the summer holidays; Journey up to Warwick to visit Warwick Castle and then Alton Towers, the next day. (Hotel in Solihull as base.) Part 2 was to journey south to Kettering and meet my folks at Wicksteed Park, a park I used to frequent as a kid and one that I have lots of memories of. Part 3 was to carry on south to the inlaws in Essex and use that as a base for Thorpe Park and Chessington. A busy week but one that I was hugely looking forward to.....So, on to our first park/attraction then - Warwick Castle…

Ended up going to the park on Thursday as Wednesday was insane with winds of 45 to 50mpb, although only the Big One was affected on the Wed, as was the Blackpool Tower down the road. Arrived at the park to be told The Big One would be closed due to high winds (23mph westerly) . About an hour into opening the ride began testing and about 2pm opened. The park itself was nice and quiet and staff very friendly and efficient. Didn't feel operations were poor at all, although only Big one and Avalanche were on two trains. Rest on one (two of four on nash) Overall a very good day and park stayed open until planned time of 7pm Infusion X2 (wasn't rough at the front, but …

Hey is anyone up for this. Its £55 which seems quite a lot, but it sees, to include actual scare mazes, behind the scenes, and loads of other cool stuff. I was tempted to go myself anyway as I'm in the 'industry' so to speak. but thought it would be much more fun to meet and go round with others. Check out the link..... http://www.scarecon.org

So yesterday I visited Oakwood, a park I'd read and heard a lot about but hadn't actually been to yet. I was really excited about the two main coasters but curious as to what the rest of the park would be like. First off this park is a nightmare to get to. I'm a student in Swansea so got a direct train from there to Narberth then from there you can either get a taxi or walk five miles to the park. I figured out that if I got a taxi both ways it would cost almost as much as my train and park ticket combined so I bit the bullet and walked. The first few miles I had a great time, it was a sunny morning and the countryside was lush but the final mile was down a busy A roa…

As part of my Poland trip, a group of us visited Lost Souls Alley - a scare attraction in the heart of Krakow. This visit deserves its own trip report, and probably a fair amount of rambling pre-amble too... For those who don't know me, I love scare attractions. I haven't visited as many scare parks or done as many attractions as I'd have liked to, but I genuinely love doing these attractions. I've done more extreme stuff, like Face it Alone at Thorpe, other alone experiences and some quite physical attractions. I also know my limits. Any attractions which cause pain is a no go for me. Another no go for me is being force-fed stuff. That sort of stuff goes beyo…

Just wondering who will be going to the Thorpe Park preview day on the 19th of March? Me and Mer managed to get tickets so we will be going. I'm looking forward to going a week before the official start of the season. Can't open soon enough now! Annual Pass days are always nice and quiet so hopefully we will be getting plenty of rides in ahead of the opening meet. If you were fast enough to get tickets, we'll maybe see you around!

So my friend is going to Thorpe on 3rd April and wants to know how busy the park will be. Also, he's doing fastrack ticket option which means he gets fastrack for swarm, inferno, saw or Colossus. Which one should he chose?
