The Future

Discuss the future of Thorpe Park.

I was wondering if in the future the park remove samurai what would they replace it with? My idea for a good ride is a Tivoli Extreme (6 arm version of course as the 4 arm version would create terrible queues and you'd have to have a very short ride time!) they are really good fun and have sort of a low height restriction (good for kids to have their very first extreme ride as its not a huge ride height) and if thorpe really wanted to improve safety they could add seatbelts onto the restraints) what do you think of my idea?

Fright Nights finishes on 31st October and the season ends on 2nd November, does it? Nope! Saturday 5th November is 'services day' with the park open 10AM to 10PM with full ride and Fright Night maze line up, free parking, limited tickets so minimal queues and no fastrack, and tickets only £18.50! This is for emergency service (including NHS staff) and armed forces personnel only run through 'blue light card' and 'defence discount service', but they can take their families so if you know anyone in these professions it may be worth being friendly to them around about now!

  3. Island beats was this special event Thorpe park did in 2015, where they got bands in to play. They got the latest and 'trendiest' bands in and performed. This was during the summer and the park would be open until 10. Do you think this should come back? And if you do, who do you think should play?

Following the delightful announcement that Slammer is no more, I want to be that annoying guy who creates the way too keen topic about what people would like to see in its place... I guess there is a serious undertone to this though. Unlike Loggers, for example, Slammer is quite visible around the park, and leaving it SBNO is quite obvious. So presumably the park will want to physically remove the ride sooner rather than later, if at all possible. So what would you like to see replace it? Would you like a new ride, and if so, what? Would you prefer the area to become a more open space, say to be used for small events? A redevelopment of Bush…

  5. So, for years and years, the rumour mill has been rife with these woddie shenanigans. Thorpe have now just whipped them all up again by posting a picture of a woodie on their Facebook page, asking if people would ride it... Just before planning applications are due for the 2015/2016 coaster and after they were apparently seen snooping around the CGI and intamin wooden coaster stands at the expo.. So, does this mean that wood is on the cards? Discuss

Does Thorpe Park still own St Annes lake and the Britannia arena? and if they don't - would they be able to buy it back? on park maps from the early 80's it showed the Britannia arena as being accessible along with the rest of the park - but I think along the way it was franchised out to a watersports company!also I assume Thorpe still own abit of st Annes lake where the nature trail used to be.my point being - from areal photos - this area is quite huge - extending out to the M3- there also doesnt seem to be much residential developments around there - especially the Canada Creek end - I've always thought this would be a great space for a woodie - Similar to Colossus …

I was thinking about thorpe getting a starflyer it would be good because it caters to everyone (if thorpe park is planning to change the market they want to appeal to) it could go where storm in a teacup is? That would bring more people to that area.

Conversation about the Dome and what people would like to see done with it in the future always seems to crop up now and again in loads of threads, so thought I'd set up all for itself.. It's quite obvious that the Dome itself is quite dated these days (not surprising given it was built almost 40 years ago!), and the décor inside feels quite old and worn itself. So what do you think the park should do with the Dome now? Should they knock down the upper half and just replace it with a welcoming plaza area? Completely rework the indoors and bring it up to speed with the modern Thorpe Park? Replace it with a new building entirely? What should be in the Dome too - sh…

Hi guys, Yesterday I was on park and was asked to take part in a focus group. The main aim of the focus group was to get our opinions on the parks food offerings and also the future. We had to first give our opinions on the current park offering, we said it was okay but there is a lack of undercover eating spaces and also we said it had to be more immersive with themes I.e. a restaurant to fit in with The Swarm a little like disney or universal (obviously nothing to that standard though!). Then we were asked about the thoughts of KFC and Pizza Hut being replaced by the inhouse brands. In our opinion as long as the in house brands rivaled those of the high street then pe…

With the new season fast approaching what addition would you add to the events calender for 2012? For me a 'Fourth of July' fireworks and late night event would be good as although it is an American event it would still add a good feature to the calender in a time with little else on.

Neptune's Kingdom seems very plain at the moment. Will there be any changes to this zone? A waterpark/hotel, like Alton Towers' Splash hotel? Or maybe getting rid of Depth Charge and changing the theme completely. They can have more room in this small zone by filling in the lake, like they have for Project Dylan.Discuss your ideas in this thread.

Rumba Rapids was originally open in 1989 as Thunder River. Thunder River was rethemed in 2001 as part of Merlins Ribhenna sponsorship I. Which The ride was renamed Rhibenna Rumba Rapids. However the Rhibenna part of the Name was dropped when the sponsorship ended. Although the ride itself stayed the same apart from a few minor changes. Rhibenna also Sponsored Berry Bouncers at Chessington this ride is know known and themed to the Jungle Bouncers. In the opening year of Thunder River a 11 year old boy Named Jonaphen White was thrown out of his boat and subsequently lost one of his ears! 13. So, SAW - The Ride is now about to enter it's TENTH season.. Time flies! Personally, I feel like the ride is ageing relatively poor, with the last couple of years becoming unbearable to ride, I mean; they sold Paracetamol in the store once upon a time for a reason! What does everybody think lies in the future of this attraction? I always presumed that the ride would be re-themed with the end of the Lionsgate contract, but now that Jigsaw has been released in the cinemas, I should think the contract has therefore been extended?

  14. Hi guys. As of late, I’ve heard it mentioned that Thorpe Park is aiming to pursue more of an “amusement park” style vibe, with the themed areas being de-emphasised. The park allegedly even said this themselves in a recent post in their Facebook group. But in the past, the park has aimed to pursue theming more, with the themed areas being more strongly marketed and more themed rides being installed. With this in mind, I’d be keen to know; what is your stance on Thorpe Park’s alleged new direction? What path do you think the park should take with regard to themed areas? Personally, I’m not too upset that Thorpe Park is moving away from themed areas. While there …

(cannot place this in General Discussion) On the Thorpe Park site now, TP Annual Passes £55.60, that's gotta be good value if you don't envisage going to any other Merlin attraction, or even doing two others at full price....? http://thorpepark.com/prices/annual-passes.aspx?tabnum=2

  16. I was thinking that maybe the arena (where the spiderman show was many years ago) could be hosted as a concert venue if it was expanded a bit? What does everyone think about this happening in the future?

Feel like there is risk on the horizon for the future expansion or continued development of large scale attractions on the horizon for Thorpe park. Also think Merlin have missed a big opportunity, but may be missing something, so feel free to correct me. Seems the old Cemex offices have been sold and purchased by a property developer that is converting them to a care home facility and assisted living complex. Hardly ideal having such a complex located next to a theme park for noise etc. really feel that this will form rejections incoming for future planning applications, especially on the Northen side of the park, island behind stealth etc. However…

Hey everyone =D Just thought I'd let you know that I've started to make 3D models of Thorpe park for anyone in the world to see on Google Earth. Here are 2 models I've done so far: BURGER KING http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=ac2331b64fe63328d88a7002dfb37846&result=12]PIZZA HUT http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=24a29f604b413fc1d88a7002dfb37846They are currently waiting to go live on Google Earth, but when they do.. You can check them out in full 3D. It's going to take me a while to model the park in my own time, as each model takes about 4/6 hours depending on detail. Although some guy has modelled STEALTH which is live now.=DSTEALT…

Since we all know the showcase live event at thorpe park this summer has been hugely popular and I was thinking for next year the park could bring in a £10 - £20 wristband/ticket to actually meet the star and get a picture taken with them. This is a win win for the park and the guests. For the park means it brings in more money and the guests and fans would be happy to meet the singer. Bit like what adventure island are doing but do it in the summer instead? What do you think?

During my visit to thorpe park yesterday I took many pics of Game and Nintendo signs around the park (these are below)! Also all the queue lines were playing Nintendo adverts! In the Lake View Marque they had a projector with the Nintendo logo on and around the walls were at least 40 3DS... I forgot to say the doors were shut... this is what I could see from outside! I also done some research online and Game are doing a offer: ''Want to have even more fun with your gaming? Well for every order of £50 or more*, we'll give you a 2-for-1 Thorpe Park Voucher! The 'Nation's Thrill Capital' is home to Nemesis Inferno, Colossus, SAW: The Ride and more - the perfect outdoor a…

  22. Quite a few parks have had or do have an upcharge attraction for example at six flags many years ago they had a Zamperla Turbo Force and a Slingshot at the park and many of them still have a slingshot that you pay to ride. Do you think an upcharge attraction should be installed at thorpe park or not?

Is there any consideration by TP to utilize the large area of water remaining? though boats have smaller capacity, there always seems to be a need to build on land and as recently, reclaim water areas to build. Even a ride going into the water area?

Hi, I have been going to theme park in England now for a while and I love rides and anything to do with them. The problem is I am 6'6 and just about fit into most rides at Thorpe, Blackpool and Alton due to leg room on the rides.. Rides such as Colossus at Thorpe hurts even more than it normally does as I am very tightly fit. Rides at Blackpool and Alton seem to have much more room and leg room for taller people and the more over weight people; whereas Thorpe seem to have very little leg room for taller people. I hope in the future rides that English parks put in have more leg room and cater for taller people.. Thanks
