August 12, 201510 yr comment_214785 Any more news on this? I read it on the Merlin Annual Pass Holders group on Facebook before I joined this forum.
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214807 There isn't much information ChessingtonSam at the moment. Ride staff think the ride will be open till the end of the season, so they are expecting everything to happen close season. I would expect some teasers around scarefest time, but not much else till then.
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214809 Looking at the elevation and site plans, it must just be a sponsorship, surely? The new "theming" looks like new advertising space.
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214811 It's a lot of work for a new sponsorship. I mean both stations are being enclosed properly, having preshows and green screen photo things. That's a lot just for a pesky sponsorship.
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214817 Oh are there pre-shows now? Didn't realise that. Ignore my previous post then. I can't see a re-theme being too great unless there's a new paint job, or are they doing that too?
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214876 Pre-shows for a coaster that's already been running for nearly 13 years? Unnecessary IMO, I'd rather they finished off the area (unless they are doing that as well).
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214877 Adding a preshow so screams re-theme. I suspect they will repaint the ride and it will have some kind of sponsorship slapped on the side as a loose relation to the new theme. Just got to look for a new trademark to Merlin, in the next couple of months.
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214881 I was about to comeback at you with "Hex?" but then I realised that's pre-Merlin
August 13, 201510 yr comment_214911 Pre-show = green screen photo box most sensible people will just say no thank you to. Great choice Merlin.
August 30, 201510 yr comment_216281 a new photo opportunity with a overpriced photo kiosk, YES I'm so excited. Anyways I like that air is getting a spruce up because currently it looks rundown, (specially in the tunnel).
September 5, 20159 yr comment_216753 Imagine if a flyer became a virtual reality experience. I know alpenexpress at Europa is getting it but what if it happened to just say Air or one of the American flyers.
September 5, 20159 yr comment_216756 #insiderinfo Its a stupid idea, especially given that the whole point of Air is to experience the feeling of flight... I fully expect Merlin to therefore use this idea, because it's the sort of stupid gimmick they love...
September 5, 20159 yr comment_216763 Your insider was a bit slow on that one Air is getting redone, re-branded etc no doubt. Pre shows, green screen photo. It's going to be more of an experience overall. I'm assuming one station will be VR and the other normal as not everyone will want to ride VR (what's wrong with a good old fashioned coaster?) As for American parks, of course Six Flags will want in. They can reveal a few a year or move the sets around like the backward Batman chassis.
September 5, 20159 yr comment_216768 Tbf Ive known since March it's going to be VR but weren't allowed to say much except teaser it. I don't think they would make it 2 experiences just make it one full experience because if they are going to so much trouble to do it then they will want to mark it out as something like worlds first virtual reality flying coaster.
September 5, 20159 yr comment_216772 Nothing changed this March Josh lol. There won't be indication of course but when I was talking about it with someonde who works there he said you wouldn't see any of the theming elements on ride which made me think more that it was virtual reality.
September 5, 20159 yr comment_216773 And I've knew in January that X wouldn't be open for February half term. Let's show off If they make VR the only choice or something then odds are they'll make the ride less liked or popular as end of the day this comes down to the KPI scores and stuff. Nothing is wrong with the coaster. People will just want to ride it as it is. Otherwise it's just a stupidly fancy simulator really.
September 5, 20159 yr comment_216779 Games of 'I know something you don't know' do not go down well here. Lots of people know lots of things, they don't get said to protect sources. ... when I was talking about it with someonde who works there he said you wouldn't see any of the theming elements on ride which made me think more that it was virtual reality. That is knot 'knowing', by the way.
September 5, 20159 yr comment_216789 Gotta love it when people working at parks blurt out info like this when they're not meant to <3 If we're comparing e-penis sizes I know what Thorpe are getting next year...
September 5, 20159 yr comment_216792 And now the face of the world's best dumbo knockoff is going to mock everyone until Doctor Who opens. I also find it weird the park still tell seasonals this stuff considering previous issues they have had.
September 5, 20159 yr comment_216804 I don't disapprove of this 'idea' of Air being converted to a VR Coaster, watching the videos and stuff they did at Europa Park, it looks like an exciting experience. I hope they do give riders the option to choose VR or normal riding, it's not the greatest landscaping ride in the world but it is the all time favourite AIR.
September 7, 20159 yr comment_216961 I highly doubt the VR thing will happen. Purely because Europa are still only testing it. Someone has seen that this is the case and have thrown in "Air will be VR".
September 8, 20159 yr comment_217098 Europa is actually moving on to releasing it to the public in a couple of weeks, although you do have to ask specially for it. Yes I get that but it's only very limited supply. It's still in it's infancy
September 18, 20159 yr comment_217914 For those who are interested - the plans were approved today for the Air enhancements.
