Project LC
I can see it being fun but I wouldn't like it as a permanent thing. Just for fright nights would be an interesting suggestion. kinnaird
Benin
Onrefni? I'd rather not see one of the few non-gimmick coasters be turned into one... The sudden backwards rides gimmick is weird as well, and I don't think Namtab got a lot of good reviews either, beyond being "ok for the one off experience", much like Swarm really... pluk and Kerfuffle
Project LC
Well they clear attract enough guests for six flags to keep doing it.
Benin
Well they clear attract enough guests for six flags to keep doing it. The same Six Flags which is calling these fairground "Ring of Fire" rides coasters? Six Flags are well known for their crappy gimmicks, certainly not a company I would look to emulate... Project LC
I'm not saying merlin should be like six flags by any means. I was more giving an example that the gimmick seems to sell.
Kerfuffle
Well the point is - all of Thorpe's gimmicks don't work. *glares at THE SWARM and SAW - The Ride*
Benin
Well the point is - all of Thorpe's gimmicks don't work. *glares at THE SWARM and SAW - The Ride* Saw's gimmick did/does work, but the ride itself is gooseberry fool... Big difference to Mraws (and Swarm originally, though that's a lot more external reasoning, always hated how Swarm got the blame for a bad year)... pognoi
Haven't SF changed round their cars again? As a one off experience it'd be great fun, but really, one off is all I would want... I can't do Swarm backwards without feeling nauseous, and much prefer the normal riding seats.
coastercameron98
Haven't SF changed round their cars again? I think they run one of the Batman's backwards for one season only at a different park each season... Correct me if I'm wrong. Swarm backwards is fine but only as a once every now and again thing. Inferno should just stay the way it is, maybe it could work as an event like Fright Nights as others have said, but apart from that, I wouldnt want to see it happen
Mark9
Thats correct, they have trains that tour the country shall we say. It was okay for a novelty when I rode it at Magic Mountain but I craved the full on intense Batman.
Flipper
Thats correct, they have trains that tour the country shall we say. It was okay for a novelty when I rode it at Magic Mountain but I craved the full on intense Batman. I'm pretty sure if you look into it, traditionally SFMM have ran Batman (and also the late Colossus RIP) backwards year on year for their Hallowe'en event. Having been on Magic Mountain's Batman both forwards and backwards, I do agree it was much more pleasant forwards; but backwards on it isn't something I'd knock. It worked well, and was far far better than backwards on Swarm (which to be frank I prefer to forwards on Swarm but thats personal opinion). I wouldn't care to see it done again though. The biggest, biggest problem with Batman backwards was the sheer fact that it was uncomfortable. Coming off the lift gave an almighty head whack on the pre-drop; but above that the fact the system wasn't set to release the bars correctly, and instead was reliant on staff to pull the mechanism down to release the bars... it's just a no-no. (Mark9 was this the same when you went a few weeks after me?). Keep Inferno forwards. And by all means, build backwards roller coasters, just make them a good one. Tom
^ They don't run Batman backwards year upon year
Flipper
^ They don't run Batman backwards year upon year I may be getting it confused then as upon reading it is just Colossus traditionally does/did. I had it in my head that they both did on the Fright Fests' leading up to it (2012/2013).
Tom
Yes, they ran Colossus backwards for fright fest, but not Batman.
Kerfuffle
I'm hoping that this season, the trains have all of their wheel covers...and those flame stickers put back! OldFarmerDean
OldFarmerDean
I'm hoping that this season, the trains have all of their wheel covers...and those flame stickers put back! I'd rather the mist be consistently working and good though... Can't ask for too much now can we!
Ricky
I'm hoping that this season, the trains have all of their wheel covers...and those flame stickers put back! Now now, that's far beyond any budget given to the park. StealthRider, Kerfuffle, Adam P and 3 others
James Allgood
But the stickers will probably cost next to nothing.... maybe £200 - £400 for both trains
OldFarmerDean
But the stickers will probably cost next to nothing.... maybe £200 - £400 for both trains I don't think you understood the sarcasm lol :/ Thorpe are laughable though.. Coaster
But the stickers will probably cost next to nothing.... maybe £200 - £400 for both trains Yes but it won't bring back any immediate profit so they won't bother. (Hopefully I'm proved wrong!)
Ricky
I find it quite humorous the park runs off vinyl stickers, yet they won't replace two on some wheel covers. Cal, OldFarmerDean and Kerfuffle
Fred
It's obvious they don't have a company like Leek signs to do absolutely everything for them AdventureRyan
Flipper
Really though, what is the bare requirement or them to order and put on some go faster flames on Inferno's wheel covers when the only people who notice/care are a handful of enthusiasts? It doesn't make the ride look worse, or make the experience change so what's the dire need for them, especially when all they do is peel and look tacky after a week anyway... Fred
It's about continuity of a theme or a brand. Trust me, far more people notice than you realise. Because you've got sod all to do in a queue rather than notice these details. And it's the lack of details and care which instantly affects the VFM feeling. Dislike thorpe workers who back the park to the tilt. It looks shoddy, end of. Dan9, SteveJ, JoshC. and 2 others
Flipper
I'm not saying it doesn't look shoddy but considering the state of other areas of the park (eg Colossus, the dwindling state of X, Stealth plaza etc.) I think it's something that probably isn't high on their list of priorities. And I don't work for Thorpe
