August 12, 201510 yr comment_214763 Been through Fury's queue line before with the stench and it isn't pleasant, a smell between fermenting food & sewerage. Surely there's a way they can solve the problem, even if it involves putting smell pods or something in that part of the queue line.
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214799 Glad I got my Lorikeet Lagoon pop badge when I did then, seems it'll go in the pile with the other 'history of Chessington' badges.

Surely there's a way they can solve the problem, even if it involves putting smell pods or something in that part of the queue line. Clearing the drainage system would help, when we got a whiff it smelt a lot like one of those fat barges the water board is forever having to clear from the sewers when people pour hot fat down the drains.
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214814 I'm betting the drains up there are super old and super falling apart.
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214819 I'm betting the drains up there are super old and super falling apart. Hmm like the rest of the park..?
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214837 Well there's the likelihood the drains go back to when the property was a rolling estate. The last time it burnt down and was rebuilt was in 1919, but the previous plumbing may well have been intact still. But they could have redone all that when the site became a theme park in 1987. There could be come Victorian systems combined with new systems, that's always a recipe for disaster.
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214839 One of the reasons Chessington became a theme park was because there was already the infrastructure such as drains inplace, so it is highly unlikely that they have been replaced since 1931.
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214845 Thought I'd mention Lorikeet Lagoon is closed because of water and rhodent problems at the moment.
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214855 We saw a rat the size of a rabbit scuttle out of there couple weeks back, wondered if it had eaten any of the residents it was that big lol.
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214867 No it's a real problem, I thought I'd make it a bit more transparent so people don't think they died of neglect
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214868 I doubt anybody at Chessington would openly admit to the place having a rat problem.
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214869 I doubt anybody at Chessington would openly admit to the place having a rat problem. I don't think merlin like to admit to any problems aha
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214871 Chessie have had rats for years... Huge buggers too... Sure they're commonplace at the other parks too, since food sources and stuff...
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214872 Chessie have had rats for years...So have Legoland actually! I've seen rats around Duplo Valley with my own eyes.
August 12, 201510 yr comment_214879 Rats are generally common at themeparks due to their outside location, they're probably just hidden away though.
August 13, 201510 yr comment_214895 Well there's an obvious upcharge attraction opportunity. Instead of flogging pots of nectar to feed the birds, charge a few quid for a go of an air rifle and take out a few monster rats. Fun for all the family!
August 13, 201510 yr comment_214896 Rats are generally common at themeparks due to their outside location, they're probably just hidden away though. True although at least Disneyland Paris only have them around Ratatouille. Can't beat that authentic theming.
August 13, 201510 yr comment_214941 All zoo's have rats too. The gorilla enclose always has them bouncing around in the hay, I think I have some on film. But bird feeders are big a rat beacon, so you have multiple draws in the lorikeet enclosure.
August 19, 201510 yr comment_215338 Just doing a scan of the CWoA Facebook as I like to now and again... some classic reading on there at the moment regarding ride availability (or lack of) Going to be lots of "come back for free" vouchers being handed out today as the website currently saying Dragon's Fury, Rattlesnake, Safari Skyway and Tomb Blaster are all closed today, with Monkey Swinger temporarily unavailable. EDIT: Looking on complaints on FB - Tiny Truckers has a Fast-track queue? The humanity...!
August 19, 201510 yr comment_215340 Dare I say it, could Chessington not be a little bit more ambitious perhaps. Magic Carpet was great for 1987 and Samurai was great in 1999 but that was over 15 years ago. It's the same thought pattern that wants Bubbleworks to return to its Professor Burp days, it's not pushing the park forward, just keeping it in the past. I accept that the period between 1995-2000 was the parks greatest days but if the place is to have any future it needs to strive to lead, not keep relying on the rides that made it what it was. Chessington.
August 19, 201510 yr comment_215344 EDIT: Looking on complaints on FB - Tiny Truckers has a Fast-track queue? The humanity...! A Fastrack queue for Truckers is beyond stupidity.
August 19, 201510 yr comment_215349 Truckers had had Fastrack for a couple of seasons now (since 2012 I think?).
August 19, 201510 yr comment_215351 I'm in shock by that - more shock than when I found out Lorikeet Lagoon had been closed all season.
