July 10, 201312 yr comment_162888 This sounds amazing! The ice cream van jingle playing across the park, ice cream falling from the sky, and waffle umbrellas! It'll be just like Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
July 16, 201312 yr comment_163387 Quite like that, it's funny Who is doing the voiceover though? I can't work it out but I'm sure I recognise it.
July 16, 201312 yr comment_163391 What a change from the old adverts, and a nice change at that! I will have to say, I am going to miss the voice over guy who has done alot of the recent adverts.
July 16, 201312 yr comment_163398 Well, completely obvious now what sort of market they're targeting now! Not quite sure on it though. It's got that sense of humour to it, but it feels a bit forced and unnatural in my opinion. I like it, but at the same time, cringe to it.
July 16, 201312 yr comment_163401 I love it! Looks like it's now all about selling the park as a great day out with family and friends. MUCH BETTER!
July 16, 201312 yr comment_163415 Superb. Just the direction they need to go in. Is that going to be our ithotmk? Royalty free themes ftw!
July 16, 201312 yr comment_163428 Errrm... Am I the only one that thinks this advert is a bit Drayton Manor? In the sense that it looks like an advert made on the cheap by a park that doesn't have a huge marketing budget... For the sake of having an advert.
July 16, 201312 yr comment_163430 I like the advert quite a lot actually, I think for a while the park have lacked an add which shows off more than just one of its rides and its nice to see them showing of the family rides to, I dont think we need any more proof that they are going back to targeting this market!
July 16, 201312 yr comment_163431 I'm surprised they're not branding the park as a resort yet. I figured they'd jump on the chance as soon as they could. I suppose they probably just don't have enough hotel rooms to be advertising the crash pad on TV nationally...
July 17, 201312 yr comment_163435 I seem to remember someone in the 'Questions to Thorpe Park' board asking if there were plans to use the resort tagline but Thorpe seemed to imply that as Snoozebox is only a temporary solution, they have no intimidate plans to brand the park as a resort. Maybe when the new permanent hotel finally arrives?
July 17, 201312 yr comment_163437 I think the new advert is ok...but I would consider it a little bit misleading if I were a parent of a 5-8 year old. It depicts young children at the beginning however there are only a handful of rides this market can go on at THORPE, all depending on the child's height obviously.
July 17, 201312 yr comment_163467 I'm surprised they're not branding the park as a resort yet. I figured they'd jump on the chance as soon as they could. I suppose they probably just don't have enough hotel rooms to be advertising the crash pad on TV nationally... They advertised Crash Pad on TV in the start of the year Advert with The Swarm, I know it's right at the end but it's there http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8aoHCcnzBI
July 17, 201312 yr comment_163477 Just heard the new summer radio advert. It's nice to hear something upbeat and summery about Thorpe other than that guy telling us all about the intense thrills they have with The Swarm. They also say 'for a great family day out.' I'm glad to see them widening there audience. A promo has also been set up alongside the advert; http://www.thorpepark.com/radio/ As for the TV ad, I love the new approach. The way they portray the park is great showing people enjoying the rides, not how fast, twisty, high they are. It's just a good bit fun in using peoples screams of enjoyment to make the background music. Especially love the use of a wide range of ages, including a child who I'd guess is just above 1.4 metres on Stealth. Just shows that whilst 1.4 metre rides are usually thrill rides, you don't need to be a teen to enjoy them (the average age for 1.4 is 10/11). I look forward to seeing how this new marketing approach grows and hopefully brings back the wider demographic. Just using Tidal Wave in the advert would make me want to go in this weather
July 21, 201312 yr comment_163771 Thorpe are being charitable they just posted: Get your 2-for-1 voucher on the Capital website and they'll donate £1 to the Capital Help a Child charity http://bit.ly/CapitalFB
July 21, 201312 yr comment_163772 To be fair, they've always had the Merlin Magic Wand thingy in regards to being charitable... Really going to town with the family stuff atm though, don't think we'll see much change though until 2015 in regards to how the attendances variate, as with Thorpe, it has a really big reputation in regards to becoming the whole 'thrill capital' and not particularly the nicest park to have a day out with your family... Hence they have to fight against that reputation first before they can actually reap the benefits... That will be the biggest hurdle in all of this...
September 4, 201311 yr comment_167705 This is Geoff. Geoff thinks roller coasters should be called "roasters". Hmmm... what do you reckon? SPOILER: This man isn't really called Geoff. We don't even know a Geoff. What?
September 4, 201311 yr Author comment_167706 I want whatever the person in charge of their facebook account has been smoking...
September 5, 201311 yr comment_167786 Thorpe posted this. THORPE PARK Official That’s the last time this guy stands next to Tidal Wave. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=VQsBv_0D-dg Bit random but oh well.
September 12, 201311 yr comment_168228 Thorpes facebook people really have been posting some odd stuff recently. I quite like todays one...
September 12, 201311 yr comment_168267 There isure is some strange marketing and publicity coming from Thorpe's Facebook page recently and this is the strangest one Ive seen since the roasters post. However if it keeps people's attention to the park, it can only be a good thing.
