November 2, 201311 yr comment_171586 What even are these parts? Just checked ride times, it's closed and probably will be the next couple of days
November 2, 201311 yr comment_171587 Bet it'll be open this evening or tomorrow. Smiler has had loads of these accidents, bet the park are used to it.
November 2, 201311 yr comment_171591 I'm going tomorrow so I asked alton if it would be open and this is the response I got: Hi Ethan, The Smiler is expected to operate as normal tomorrow although we cannot promise anything at this stage. ^Viki Fingers crossed!
November 3, 201311 yr comment_171609 Oh dear, this isn't very good, The Smiler has appeared in a headline on the BBC news website. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-stoke-staffordshire-24794468 This coaster must also be the worlds highest breakdown coaster as well as inversions. Thinking about it, if you disregard mine train as coaster, this is the park's 13th actual roller coaster, so it definitely has been unlucky.
November 3, 201311 yr comment_171618 Looks like they bit of a little more than they could chew.I wish them luck and hope they get it sorted, or at least riding better.
November 3, 201311 yr comment_171619 They need to sort out these issues. After finally getting on The Smiler I really enjoy it and it's a great ride - now sort out the issues!
November 3, 201311 yr comment_171620 Hit a rider, how does that work? Should that say hit someone standing in the queue? And it reads like the wheels were from the ride train, I thought they were from the lift hill?
November 3, 201311 yr comment_171631 Just came back from towers, was closed all day, I did see work on the vertical lift hill which I suppose is a good thing!
November 4, 201311 yr comment_171639 More cracking press for The Smiler - glad I got my first ride on it a few weeks ago! Any truth in the rumour that Thorpe's new Top Spin for 2014 is now being installed at Alton to replace the Smiler?
November 7, 201311 yr comment_171805 It's open again... Wonder how many times this has been posted in this topic this year
November 7, 201311 yr comment_171815 Might have to take a trip up there sunday now, as were going to leave it. Dark Smiler, hopefully, here we come
November 7, 201311 yr comment_171820 Its annoying knowing I have to wait for Smiler in dark for another like 10/11 months oh well atleast, Blivvy, sonic, Nemesis, rumba and Rita were done in the dark on my trip and that isnt bad!
November 8, 201311 yr comment_171854 Smiler was running really well yesterday! Gerstlauer were on site for a few days fixing the problem to get it going for fireworks!
November 19, 201311 yr comment_172154 From Towers times facebook page: Smiler model in the gerstlauer stall at IAAPA, what do you guys think of yellow track then?
November 19, 201311 yr comment_172155 If the whole thing had been that colour it would have looked VILE... I'm glad they left it as the trim colour... Wonder if that model sinks or stalls though...
November 19, 201311 yr comment_172160 It would look very... different! I think it would have looked nice with yellow supports and black track.
November 26, 201311 yr comment_172450 As much I love the yellow - yellow track would be too much. Plus, would look awful unless maintained/repainted regularly as it's a light colour...
December 3, 201311 yr comment_172741 Yeah the yellow would look bad and probably end up like Colossus after a while (in dire need of a paint job! )
December 5, 201311 yr comment_172948 All I can say is, The Smiler BETTER be in perfect condition next year!
January 2, 201411 yr comment_173878 Look what I found on YouTube! Not the best quality, but it's the closest we're getting to the full loop so far!
January 2, 201411 yr comment_173882 ^ I remember when I first saw that video a few months ago and couldn't stop listening to it on repeat. Now you've gone and made me do that all over again.
