  1. Started by James_C,

I was quite shocked to see that there was no topic for the East Coasts finest fun fair/theme park. I go there every year and it is one of those theme parks that although there is nothing of major thrill...it is never really boring. The wooden rollercoaster is a real experience and I would recommend going there purely to try this out! Apparently they have added a new rollercoaster this year...a family spinning wild mouse although I have seen no photos or publicity of this...

Looks like the UK is set to have a new holiday site opening, which will incorporate a Gulliver's theme park. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-38992235 Probably not the most exciting development for those of us over 7 years old, but still nice to see something new.

In comparison to last year not as impressive but could still be promising none the less! It's the Zoo's 85th anniversary so for half term the zoo will be open (as expected) with some guest animals, exclusive shows, animal feedings and a host of other activities available. Ride line up: - Hocus Pocus Hall All guests have to pre book tickets including Annual pass holders but this is free of charge. Thoughts!?

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum, and I wanted to start by asking a quick question about the trip I am planning to Chessington on the 14th of December. I have been to the park once before during the summer time and it has been really busy - should I do expecting this for my trip in December, or is it going to be much quieter? Also, it would be useful to know which rides to do first, queue times expected, and places to eat. I hope it's going to be a great trip! Thanks!!

  8. Started by Theme Park bloke,

Hex is a fantastic ride - on of my favourites at Alton Towers! As we know, Hex came about during the restoration of the towers. The bookcase was removed to reveal a doorway behind it, after unbricking it, the secret vault with the branch of the oak tree was stored in there.I'm a little confused - was this bookcase in the Octagon, and if so, was it where the steps are where you go up to the ride? e.g "behind" the central column of the Octagon when moving forward through Hex.Also, is that the branch tree in the middle of the Hex ride? I touched it briefly as we left. It felt real. It looks a little dusty yet I'm sure it's been treated to preserve it for the ride, after nearl…

Just a topic about hidden bits of Chessington that can't be seen to the naked eye, is anyone able to shed light on any sort of hidden pathways or interesting bits of Chessington?I've seen that Rodeo queue is still in working condition, all with the cow horns and also the control box, anyone else able to shed any light what it was used for after it closed up?

I love the ride, the way the goblins jump out at you and the pre-ride show.(Love Fartalot's Chair too)How does Halloween Hocus Pocus compare, I here it has live actors but gets 60 minute queues!

  11. Started by MrBaBa,

I was looking through the park's local planning authority and saw this: http://maps.kingston...245&strHeader=Y The details say: 'Erection of a three/four storey 69 bedroom hotel extension, a play/performance area and the erection of a single storey extension to the existing hotel for bar/restaurant and leisure use' Sounds interesting, but I hope Chessington can get a ride for 2014 though. EDIT: Pictures are now up on the link... Luckily they're not shipping containers!

  12. Hi guys. Since Tussauds' purchase of Thorpe Park in 1998, Chessington & Thorpe Park, two of the UK's largest theme parks, have operated under the same corporate umbrella (Tussauds from 1998 through to 2007, Merlin since 2007) within very little distance of each other; both parks serve the London area, and they are only a very short drive away from each other. Tussauds' initial reasoning for purchasing Thorpe Park was in order to eliminate Chessington's closest competition within the South (Thorpe was a family park to the same, if not a greater, extent than Chessington at the time, and as John Wardley put it, Tussauds' mentality was one of "if you can't bea…

  14. A new ITV attraction at media city in Manchester (formerly the Lowry centre) Based on I’m a celebrity, it opens at the end of July. This looks set to be a bigger version of the indoor attraction that was at Thorpe. Set design from Scruffy dog. https://www.imacelebrityjunglechallenge.co.uk

  17. Started by Matt N,

Hi guys. In recent days, Hyperia, the UK’s tallest and fastest roller coaster, has opened at Thorpe Park. It’s only been open for a few days thus far, but a lot of people who’ve ridden it (although admittedly not everybody) are already declaring it their top UK coaster. With this in mind, I’d be interested to know; is Hyperia your top UK coaster, if you’ve ridden? Has it finally knocked Nemesis off its top spot? Or if Nemesis wasn’t your top UK coaster before, has Hyperia usurped whatever you previously had on top? Or did it not quite reach the mark for you? I haven’t personally ridden Hyperia yet, so I’m voting undecided at the moment, but I’m interested to s…

  18. So Nemesis at Alton Towers is without a doubt one of the, if not the most intense and amazing ride in the UK. So is it the best invert in the world?

The annual Knutsford may day fair is now open until the 6th May. It has over 100 attractions. Probably the best new ride I've seen is this Megaspin. It's like a cross between a Sky Swat and a Disk'o.
