...Causes Daily Mail to run with an overly dramatic headline and horror stories, mostly lifted from Twitter. A power cut in the local area (not just the site) caused rides to cease at Chessington today, which led the staff to execute their well rehearsed evacuation plans. All guests were freed from rides within 30 minutes. Naturally, The Daily Fail have reported that it was almost an apocolypse and that Chessington had "no contingency plans in place". http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5795863/Chessington-World-Adventures-power-cut-leaves-parents-enraged.html It seems to me in reality, that they handled the situation very…

  4. Hi guys. I have exciting news; it appears that Alton Towers is holding a consultation about building an “indoor attraction” on the former site of the Alton Mouse, within Coaster Corner (the area behind World of David Walliams): Those “in the know” apparently think that this is to be the next Secret Weapon. I’ve got to say, I think this is brilliant news! A new indoor attraction will definitely add some variety to Alton Towers’ lineup, which should hopefully allay recent concerns about the park lacking filler rides! With this being in/near TWODW, I doubt that it’ll be anything too thrilling, but I think the park needs more middle-ground things with a …

What are the queues like for most of the rides? I have been before but we have always had priority passes from complaints - one time we were all given ultimate fastrack for free!!

So QUEXTREME is returning for its 3rd year this year at Quex Park in Birchington. Having done it every time I can safely say it is probably the scariest of all the horror events I have done. Theres only 3 mazes however each one lasts about 15-20 minutes and you’re sent in small groups. They’re all outside with one being in a cornfield, one a forest and one big one which incorporates different areas and a big, theatrical storyline. Last year one of their mazes was nominated for a scare tour award for most innovative ending; this involved everyone being bundled into a London Black Cab with a stunt driver who flung you around in a field w…

Chessington have submitted plans for a small log flume, taking place partially on Toadies site. Toadies will receive a slight rerouting and become shorter as a result. Both rides will receive a jungle sort of theme. https://www.southparks.co.uk/2019/10/08/chessington-world-of-adventures-resort-plans-new-mini-log-flume-and-re-theme-of-toadies-crazy-cars/ The log flume appears to be the same one that was at Weymouth Sealife. There had previously been rumours it would go to Chessington and be placed where Creepy Caves was, though that was like 2-3 years ago. Quite like the idea. A small log flume for young kids who can't do Tiger Rock is m…

Rameses Revenge is known for being Chessingtons biggest thrill, and the only one to invert riders. Like the Rattlesnake, Rameses is also in a whole in the ground, with the queue line starting on normal ground, and getting lower to the ground and then eventually to the platform, where you are strapped in, and your seat is checked. After that, your in for one hell of a ride!Discuss Chessingtons biggest thrill ride here!

A Halloween special for everyone, vote here on what you think of Chessington's classic Transylvanian rollercoaster.Open for it's 20th season, the Vampire has been thrilling riders since 1990 in either bat themed cars or leg danging carriages. It's seen an extensive refurb and was Tussauds real start into stunning rollercoaster designs. Through Vampire John Wardley learnt many lessons that he would incorporate into Nemesis, Oblivion, Megafobia, Air, Dragons Fury and Th13teen.Vampire's legacy is well known in enthusiast circles.. but just how good is the ride?

So with the news that a B&M is to open at Thorpe for 2012, lets discuss a ride that will be celebrating it's tenth birthday next year. Air, B&M's first flying rollercoaster opened in 2002 and is quite unlike any other ride in Europe. Swooping up and over Nemesis and with an emphasis on the thrill of flight does Air inspire you or do you hate it and have been put off flying ever since. For reference, French ride enthusiasts love it. But do you?!

We need some more alton topics, so here another one!Well when Rita was announced it got alton fanboys pretty excited. But since its opened, its recieved mixed reviews. Its like Marmite, you either Love it or you hate it . Rita has been criticised for its long queues followed by short ride times, but some people find it a great ride full of airtime and great turns.Launching from 0 - 60 mph in 2.4 seconds, it takes you on a journey through UG Land, with twists and turns everywhere, and 3 airtime hills in the center of the ride. Thunder Rock Rally Radio plays around the ride, which some people have critcised also for not fitting in with the UG Lands prehistoric theme, and th…

  17. From TowersStreet Facebook today: Alton Towers have submitted plans for a FoodLoop style restaurant in Forbidden Valley, taking the place of the current Air shop. Does this suggest that a new large shop is likely to replace it in the near future...and therefore that a large new ride is imminent for the area? Link to plans Pretty cool, hey! Here's a short video of the Europa-Park one:

I am going up to Alton Towers for a couple of days and was wondering if any of the coasters are rough and give you a banging headache e.g. Like Colossus at Thorpe. As if possible I will leave them to last so as not to spoil the day as only have two days there as live to far away. I have not been to Alton for many years so any advice great fully received..

What do people think on Alton Towers' Powered rollercoaster in Katanga Canyon, Runaway Mine Train! I've noticed that this ride has been getting increasingly popular recently, on my last 2 visits the queue has been out the entrance! It's definitely a winner against other Powered UK coasters, Runaway Train, Flying Fish and Buffalo Coaster are all pretty pathetic in comparison, and this ride is great for young children and thrillseekers alike! Also, I adore the theming! 8.5/10

Whether you rode it there or not, it certainly created alot of controversy when it became common knowledge that Samurai was moving to Thorpe. Many say Samurai was at its best at Chessie, fitted in better, and was a major attraction for the park.Let us remember samurai as it should be remembered- back in its righteous home! ( I couldn't think of the right word, so insread I put righteous )

  24. Hi all, I have been inspired to join this forum by the unprecedented threat to our nation's theme park heritage by Rameses Revenge being taken out of service. As the UK's only top-spin ride, it is clear that it is an 'endangered species' in the theme park industry. I propose we launch a campaign to save the ride. There are four steps: 1) We need to contact Historic England, and inform them of the loss to our culture and heritage that is underway. We should draw parrellels to historic rides that are already listed. Historic England have listed several already which creates an obligation on the owners to preserve them. Don't …

From what I gather, the annual Scarefest hearse has appeared on Towers Street once again (earlier than normal too I think?), so it seems appropriate to start up a thread. And to start things off, there's been some reductions to the opening hours, with the first Mon-Fri of the event being cut for 10-9 to 10-7 (linky - http://www.altontowers.com/useful-info/opening-times/#tab-themepark-oct). A bit of a shame, especially as it won't even be dark by then, but I guess it could be a lot worse. Many on other forums are kicking up a fuss about it, so it will be interesting to see if we see another infamous Towers Reversal there... As for what attractions we'll see, there's be…
