EC! Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 I think X is a welcome improvement. Sure it's not too intense and the queueline in busy periods leaves a lot to be desired but I think the ride itself is great, with some nice headchopper moments and close supports to the sides. The music and lights are great. Just don't go in expecting a rip-roaring B&M and you'll be fine I totally agree! Quote
EC! Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 I think X is the only big dark ride coaster in the UK (correct me if I'm wrong), tbh I like it but I think itd a bit short with out the brakes. I just look forward to eurosat now see how that compares. Inferno 1 Quote

pluk Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 I think Astro Storm at the mighty Brean Leisure Park might be bigger? But that's all I can think of. So X and Astro Storm are all the UK can offer for dark coasters. Oh dear. Quote
tomglazed Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 That's quite a sobering thought... Still yet to ride the new X, definitely intrigued to see just how shorterned the ride is. Does stacking happen quite often? Quote
EC! Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 Not really, well I havent seen it stack up and Mark I look forward to it too Quote
Matt 236 Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 To my knowledge, all the currently existing dark ride coasters X/ Thorpe Park Astrostorm/ Brean leisure park Raptor/ LWV Cheese Factory/ Gullivers MK Plus Clone Zone at Milkyway which seems quite bizarre. Don't think there are any other uk dark coasters now as Black Hole and Thunder mountain closed in 2005. The uk could do with another major new dark coaster as only X and Astro are really the only big ones and I doubt they're a patch on other dark coasters in the world. Quote
EC! Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 Yeah we definately need a new one I mean both X and astro storm are meh. Quote
Matt 236 Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 Yeah we definately need a new one I mean both X and astro storm are meh. Yeah especially as X is questionably the best dark coaster we have now and the fact excluding Astrostorm which is the relocated Space Invader ride, the last uk dark coaster built was 14 years ago and that was that strange coaster at Gullivers. Whiteknuckle Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 Whilst queueing for X today, the spekers outside were playing this track, sort of piano/keyboard type track, but it kept cutting out and restarting every 10 seconds or so. Anyone know the name of it? Quote
Glitch Posted August 20, 2013 Report Posted August 20, 2013 Whilst queueing for X today, the spekers outside were playing this track, sort of piano/keyboard type track, but it kept cutting out and restarting every 10 seconds or so. Anyone know the name of it? It's just the theme music for X isn't it as they want it to be seen as ravey Quote
JoshC. Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 So, my original opinion on the new X has changed completely. I seriously love the ride. Yes, okay, it's not exactly the most thrilling coaster, but I find it really good fun. What I think I really like about it, but only realised tonight, is that thanks to the light show, each ride feels slightly different, adding to the re-rideability (12 times this evening!). Also got 2 goes with just the lasers on this evening - really is a great experience. Didn't think I'd say this, but I do no prefer X to NWO and, dare I say, it's my second favourite ride on park right now..! X - 8/10 OldFarmerDean and Mitchada04 2 Quote
Fred Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 New ride hype? But... does it beat Nemesis?! Quote
JoshC. Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 I don't think it's new ride hype, as it's got better and better for me! Could be that because it's a less intense ride, and just meant to be a bit of fun, it offers something completely different from all the other coasters on park, so seems better. I guess time will tell... And nah, it may good, but it ain't THAT good... Quote
alexander Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 I love X has got some money spent on it but I do kind of miss it going backwards and rolling back and forth on the blocks, maybe it's just nostalgia and I don't like change Quote
Coaster Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 Yeah we definately need a new one I mean both X and astro storm are meh. Astro Storm is very good! (Much better than X imo) Quote
Gggggggg Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 Love the music on this rid, but the volume needs to be pushed to the max. I don't know if they changed it since I went in April, but it could have been louder and the could have put the bass up a bit more Quote
Benin Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 And nah, it may good, but it ain't THAT good... So NOT really an 8/10 then? Quote
JoshC. Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 So NOT really an 8/10 then? Well, Nemesis is at least a 9.5/10, so... Quote
BigBobJones Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 X seems to be working well, the volume is at the right level IMO. It is never going to be an epic coaster, but it does have a new lease of life and is very popular with those who are now able to ride it due to the heigh change. Gggggggg 1 Quote
Coaster Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 Are any of the music tracks online anywhere yet? Quote
Mr. Fish Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 I went in there on saturday and it had loads of smoke and it is so much better with smoke Tom and Gggggggg 2 Quote
dragon2000 Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Loads of smoke yesterday too - definitely the best incarnation of the ride. Quite thrilling and I came off with a smile! Quote
OldFarmerDean Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 I don't mind when there's lot's of lights which mean you can see the ride... as long as if there is lot's of smoke it looks cool either way - I really enjoy this ride, and can't even count how many times I've been on it this year now - it is different everytime with the music and light show, way better than no way out! Gggggggg Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 I never got to ride XNWO. Upsets me really... Quote
