TPJames
Just to clear things up, I've understood that it's been testing but whether it has opened yet is confusing me? I'm visiting Tuesday and I would like it to be open but I'm not sure that I should get my hopes up!
JoshC.
Still not open yet as far as I'm aware. There's no indication when it will open, but if it's been testing with water dummies, then it should *hopefully* be soon.
Marc
That said yesterday Thorpe tweeted: @THORPEPARK: Hey guys, yes the Slammer is closed for the foreseeable future.
Coaster
Something else must have happened then as they were all for it opening a few weeks back. Flipping thing, it's a shame because I really like it!
JoshC.
Oh, well that's that then... It's no secret that I don't like the ride and think it's not worth keeping, etc., but it's really unfortunate that it hasn't opened yet. It just seems like they overcome one problem with the ride and then it throws up another one.
paige
I wonder how long Thorpe are going to try until they realise it's far gone. I have a feeling they might be solving the initial problem(s), but there are underlying problems which are being worsened by this.
Altitude
Can they not sue S&S like Dollywood did over their Topple Tower? This ride has caused nothing but problems... (it is quite a thrill though!)
Mitchada04
It was testing quite a bit again today though!
tomglazed
Can they not sue S&S like Dollywood did over their Topple Tower? This ride has caused nothing but problems... (it is quite a thrill though!) They would then end up paying not only a growing maintenance bill but legal fees, and no doubt some lawyers will run up a bill just as large if not larger than the maintenance bill! pluk
I believe they got it for next to nothing in the first place as the problems were there from the off, so there wouldn't be much to sue them for. That could be why they are still happy to throw money at it.
Benin
Thorpe, just get rid of it, it really cannot be worth the money you are constantly ploughing in to try and get it working for it to not be open... Cut you losses, and get something that is more reliable... It makes sense... JoshC.
Cal
Well Slammer seemed to have no work and no testing going on all day today The dummies still remain in the seats.
RetroIsBest
Just out of interest which parts are always causing the problems? Is it the same parts every time or is it just the whole thing in general? Would be a shame if they got rid of it as it is one of my favourite rides at Thorpe but if it is going to end up SBNO for large periods of the season they may as well get shot of it. J.S217
It will open in May like every thing else

Coaster
A real shame, but if they know this then it's inexcusable that there is no indication on the website of Slammer being closed. OldFarmerDean
Cal
A real shame, but if they know this then it's inexcusable that there is no indication on the website of Slammer being closed. I agree, especially the fact that they have spent so much money on it over the last couple of years. I assume it wasn't taken off their website as they thought they would have the ride open again at the begging of the season. They still should of had a banner or something saying that it was unavailable for the meantime.
Benin
Rest in peace Slammer... James_C
pluk
WHAT!?!?!?! :( They have been sending this stock reply when people have asked since a few days after it didn't open at the start of the season, nothing has changed. I suppose the longer it goes on the worse it looks for a return, but lets not write her off yet!
Kizerian
WHAT!?!?!?! :( Aww, poor Slammer! I loved that ride.

InfernoMartin
Did you read what I just said :l Thorpe are saying they are hoping to get Slammer going again, they have said they are not scrapping her yet MarkC and pluk
Cal
Did you read what I just said :l Thorpe are saying they are hoping to get Slammer going again, they have said they are not scrapping her yet Really really good to hear, I did think that they might as well carry on trying to get it going, seeing how much they've spent on it in recent years. Another problem must of came up though, seeing as it was being tested daily and then it just suddenly stopped. Maybe they are waiting for another part, and this takes a long time as they get 'specially made'.
