TraX
Here is the plan, with heights and the two high supports that we've seen put in today. Fred and thorpeparkjack
Sidders
Re-evaluating that zero-G roll - that really is a very sharp up-curve! I spy immense positive G-Force... And I love how the first inversion on The Swarm is about 2 inches taller than Colossus and Saw mah boi
Benin
^Depends on what speed it takes it at. Raptor was rather steep as well if I recall and that wasn't the most forceful thing.Again, I doubt this will be massive on the G-Forces, purely due to the ride vehicle design... graceful and smooth is however a definite. And to me, a much more important quality to have in a ride, as that provides re-rideability.
Popular Post Luke_A
The Swarm construction update 8/10/11.Visited Thorpe today for Fright Nights and got quite a few construction pics for the Swarm! **Feel free to post these images to other forums, they are mine; I don't mind, just give credit to Mania Hub and Me** thank youu :)Ok, so I entered the park and went on Detonator with nothing new to see, then about 1/2 an hour later this rather large support appeared! After seeing this, I went over to the future bridge area to see if there was any more happening... I'm greeted 2 large pieces of B&M track, the construction workers were cleaning them ready to put into place.Approximately 2 hours later even more supports had been constructed. These are supports for the Zero-G roll (second inversion)Workers putting ties around the track ready for lifting.about 1/2 hour later again and a track piece for the bottom of the 1st drop is in place, but... There ARE holes for a Trim Brake here. Hopefully it won't be used too strongly but wiring was put in for it nearer the end of the day.Just so you can gauge the size of this support, it's just a bit taller than Tidal Wave, A support for the Lift Hill was also installed which can be seen in this photo, to the right. At about 4PM, plenty of Supports were now on site, seen at the bottom of this picture. As well as the Lift Hill base and motor, the motor is the blue part in the track. Nothing else really happened after the crane was put away, maybe things that weren't obviously going to be seen such as electronics were being worked on, but that's all that happened today. If construction keeps up at this pace then we've got an exciting few weeks ahead of us!Thanks for reading. Luke. holtjammy16
Great to see people got pictures, I forgot to get some haha, but the supports were going up like crazy :)Never really realised how big it is going to look, and its only the support for the Zero G, this thing is going to look huge, and I don't think stealth will make this ride look smaller, its in a good position! Diesel
In the last photo Luke posted, you can make out the bottom of the lift as well as the lifts motor. I can imagine this time next week a lot of the supports will be in position. This is going to be a VERY steep lift hill!!?Not sure if anyone else has picked up but.... Trims at the bottom of the first drop?
Sidders
This is going to be a VERY steep lift hill!!?I noticed this in the close-up view of the plans that Neil posted. Look at it in comparison to Tidal Wave's lift hill - it's at a far steeper gradient.
Benin
B&M have recently been doing a LOT of steep lift hills... Recent Hypers like Diamondback, Krake and Raptor are all nice and steep... Not really that noticeable on the rides, but it can look really good from the off-ride perspective...Also, LOL TRIMS! To be expected these days... Whoever said they couldn't have them because there's no straight track must be feeling a tad foolish now
Sidders
Well my first guess for a trim brake position (there had to be at least one) was the up-curve into the zero-G roll. So I'm not surprised to see one materialise there.Actually I am... At the bottom of the drop? Who's idea was that now, really? Speak now, B&M/Thorpe. Let's hope it's barely noticeable or, like Air's, hardly ever in use.
Mattgwise
Those are much better photos than the very amateur one I posted to facebook at around midday that nobody could see. Link and image below for proof that I did post it earlier! http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150406125565342&set=p.10150406125565342&type=1&theaterOne I posted at midday to facebook: A quick shot at around 6pm

Mark9
Thanks to everyone who has posted their construction pics on here for everyone to see. They're fantastic images. :)I also don't mind the trims as much as the next coaster enthusiast. The best parts of Raptor was when the train was at a more crawling pace. Coaster XTREME
We have a construction update coming tonight so I will upload a few here. Must say, that zero g roll looks massive! Look forward to seeing more updates over the coming weeks.
javs
Great work guys for all these fantastic pics! Just you wait till you see how high the lift hill and inverted dive is going to be, as it is nearly two thirds the height of Stealth! Looking forward to tonight's update! Benin
I also don't mind the trims as much as the next coaster enthusiast. The best parts of Raptor was when the train was at a more crawling pace.Nail on head. The Wing-Rider concept isn't about speed or forces, it's about interaction and the open sensation you get from the seating. If that final inline is taken quickly, then the near misses will be, well missed. But if taken slowly, the experience is heightened much more. Kinda like how Colossus goes through them at about 5mph.But of course, trims are the bane of our enthusiast lives, and hence should be mocked and ridiculed because they ruin coasters just by existing. BenC
Just to add to the photos that have appeared on here from yesterday, I've put some high-res shots from my visit on Total Thorpe Park. It clear that being so close to the Dome, the ride is going to dominate the Thorpe skyline as you enter the Park - the second inversion is huge. The pace that the track is being erected at is quite startling too - there were at least two or three large supports/track pieces put up just yesterday. We may well have a complete circuit by the end of the season! And a close up of those (controversial?) trims... I can't remember who I discussed this with but I can only apologise, you called it right on the positioning of the trim
BenC
That picture is the magnetic brakes Ben, below is the trim piece of track in questionMy bad; I was referring to the brakes after the inline discussed a couple of pages back! I agree with what's already been said about brakes on this ride though - The Swarm will be more about the swooping feeling and near-misses and less about intensity and speed, so trims shouldn't hamper the experience. As long as they don't go overkill on them...
Valentez
Haha, no worries mate ;)Just a quick overview pic here taken within the last hour by UK Theme Park News, looks quiet on-site today
mah boi
Chances are, is that they might spend most of the day placing the beginning of the lift in, since that is a huge piece. At the end of the day, we might see the beginning piece of track go up to the first support, of the hill.
AdamY
I would have thought being a Sunday work would be very limited to non-existent anyway. Tomorrow should be great though.

Not feeling foolish at all.Have to agree with the steepness of the lift hill from an off ride perspective being very intimidating. My personal worst part of a roller coaster is going up a slow lift hill (Saw on my first ride was my worst nightmare).
