Who likes Duel at Alton Towers, or who prefered the old Haunted House attraction that started it all in 1992. This is a room where you can send in some nice comments, memories of the ride and anything else you remember of the ride. I went on this and I used to be scared on that ghostly part when you walked in it took the crap outta me when I rode it when I was little, sorry for the use of bad language people.here's a ride photo of the Haunted House to jog up your memoryif you want the link clicky here...http://s464.photobucket.com/albums/rr9/Bla...ntedHouse-1.jpgif you want the picture then its just below the topic page.

  2. Hi all, I have been inspired to join this forum by the unprecedented threat to our nation's theme park heritage by Rameses Revenge being taken out of service. As the UK's only top-spin ride, it is clear that it is an 'endangered species' in the theme park industry. I propose we launch a campaign to save the ride. There are four steps: 1) We need to contact Historic England, and inform them of the loss to our culture and heritage that is underway. We should draw parrellels to historic rides that are already listed. Historic England have listed several already which creates an obligation on the owners to preserve them. Don't …

  3. After having visited many theme parks across the globe I just can't seem to understand why are parks are so badly maintained eg dirty faded tracks, worn out theming and effects etc... Places like port aventura coaster tracks are gleaming all year round year after year but ours are either faded or rusting anyone know why? I am aiming this more at Thorpe as Alton are sorting some of their coasters tracks slowly

As this is a kind of general topic, I was unsure where to put it, I decided upon Chessington as I feel they are the biggest offender.Does anyone else find the opening times of the majority of our parks really frustrating? The whole month of August Chessington closes at 6! The likelihood is that opening will be extended but even so, that is just ridiculous. This is happening at the same time, as Legoland, with a younger target audience is closing at 8!I just find it irritating how early the park closes...

  6. Hi guys. I have very exciting news for you all this afternoon! According to Attraction Source, Chessington is holding a public exhibition showing off a “new attraction” on Wednesday 16th November: https://www.facebook.com/213894828494/posts/pfbid0298cGVxYnMfoovWQpQqqzfcgNkxuW9Scqmez8dJMMRmGj1QR8X29epFeWzG3AXCdjl/ Little else is known other than that, but details will apparently be revealed on the 16th, and there will be a public consultation period running until the 30th. Isn’t this exciting? I wonder what it could be; I’ll admit that I wasn’t expecting another major investment at Chessington so soon after Jumanji, but I guess it would make sense…

  7. The Trocadero isn't a place I ever went to, but hearing from all the attractions that used to be there such as Sega world, have made me interested in what this place was like. Here's a promotional video of the park, just before it opened in the mid nineties. Looks like it was quite an interesting place, shame it no longer exists.

hi. so when you all go to chessington where do you eat?. and what do you think of the prices and the quality of the food (I'm gonna get a mod to do 1 of these threads for thorpe!) personally, I love eating at the chicken place in the forbidden kingdom- it's so tasty... I love that kind of chicken I also eat at burger king sometimes- though I strongly dissagree with chessington getting rid of mcdonalds.. I do prefer that

I am going up to Alton Towers for a couple of days and was wondering if any of the coasters are rough and give you a banging headache e.g. Like Colossus at Thorpe. As if possible I will leave them to last so as not to spoil the day as only have two days there as live to far away. I have not been to Alton for many years so any advice great fully received..

Hello there. I applied for my first job last week, a Guest Experience Assistant Weekend role at SEA LIFE. Was very pleased to receive an email today saying I've been invited to the assessment centre. Does anyone have any idea what sort of things they will ask in the interview? I'm pretty confident with the team working exercises, just not too sure how to prepare for the interview as it'll be the first I've ever had. Any help people could give would be greatly appriciated.

New for 2014 - The one and only Gruffalo joins the Chessington cast from the deep dark wood for a festive family show on the Africa Stage, followed by meet n’greets and a themed quiz trail to lead inquisitive children around the Zoo where they’ll come face to face with some familiar creatures. http://www.chessington.com/explore/event/chessington-winters-tail.aspx

There seems to be a massive lack of decent waterparks here in the UK. The only one I've ever been to here that was not basically a normal pool with a couple of flumes attached was called 'fantaseas' in Dartford. It was just amazing, a full continental style water park but mainly inside. As it closed sometime in the early 90's I don't expect anyone here to remember it, you'll have to take my word for it, it really was something else. The only other decent experience pools I've come across, although definitely not actual waterparks, are the domes at Centre Parcs. The one at Elveden especially is great fun with, the spectacularly rough and dangerous outdoor rapids the h…

When X-Sector first opened it was full of optimism and everybody was pleased with the futuristic themed new area...Black Hole, Oblivion ETCBut now...well it's lost it's magic and impotance, Enterprise and Submission could be moved with a click of the owners fingers and Oblivion never gets queues and is no longer... special.So... is X-Sector losing it's magic?

Thunder Looper was one of the best rides at AT, no doubt about it. That was one of the first 'launch' coasters in the UK but didn't use the sophisticated technology we see today on the likes of Stealth and Rita. Thunder Looper used a counterweight catapult system. It was very affective and was an awesome ride. The fact that it only had a lap bar restraint made it even better. It's still running today I believe in a park outside the UK.Reasons for it's removal...1.) Noisey2.) Could be seen from outside the park (above tree tops)3.) UnreliableI reckon then should of wacked it in a hole like they did with Nemesis and then stuck a Black Hole type cover over it. That would have …

Unless I'm being blind there doesn't seem to be a thread for Warick Castle. Does anyone actually go there? Would presume so, what with it being on the MAP. Anyway, they've managed a decent bit of self publicity with this news story. I take it they use some pyro in their shows then?

What do people think on Alton Towers' Powered rollercoaster in Katanga Canyon, Runaway Mine Train! I've noticed that this ride has been getting increasingly popular recently, on my last 2 visits the queue has been out the entrance! It's definitely a winner against other Powered UK coasters, Runaway Train, Flying Fish and Buffalo Coaster are all pretty pathetic in comparison, and this ride is great for young children and thrillseekers alike! Also, I adore the theming! 8.5/10
