TraX Posted May 16, 2015 Report Posted May 16, 2015 OR they haven't got the staff to cope with it. It looks better whilst Merlin looses staff, to say these excuses about 'waiting for parts', or there being 'not enough demand', WHEN CLEARLY THERE HAS BEEN. Knowing Merlin they were prob short staffed before anyone left unexpectedly anyway. Staffing is pretty short all over, the Eye is running with a minimum staff also. Seems they're penny pinching has filtered right through to not hiring enough/more staff (which means the customers suffer a below par experience). pluk 1 Quote

To be fair I'm sure the majority of businesses in the world would rather shift the blame away from them selves publicly in them sort of situations. Quote
David B Posted May 16, 2015 Report Posted May 16, 2015 Colossus was closed today after lunch time. Appeared that it broken down just leaving the station Quote
David B Posted May 16, 2015 Report Posted May 16, 2015 Yeah I was about to go on Colossus and they said it was shut. luckily I got on all the other coasters. Though Stealth did shut for a bit as well. Quote
InfernoMartin Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 The lift hill evacuation was done effortlessly and incredibly quick yesterday. Clearly been well practiced. Quote
David B Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 Yeah it was pretty efficient from what I saw. Quote
JoshC. Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 Is Colossus back open yet? Didn't even know it had been closed, but according to the park's Twitter, only Slammer is closed. Quote
Jax Teller Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 What about the evac? Did something not go wrong Quote
Mitchada04 Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 Lift Hill evacs on Colossus were always common back in the day so it's not an unusual occurrence and when it does happen it might just remain closed for the rest of that day, not usually more than that. Was working Sunday on two trains Jax Teller 1 Quote
Ian-S Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 20 min queue as I type, so obviously running if queue-times is to be believed. Jax Teller 1 Quote

Benin Posted May 22, 2015 Report Posted May 22, 2015 Only the rest of Merlin's portfolio left to paint now! (Even Smiler needs it) Quote
Mark9 Posted May 22, 2015 Report Posted May 22, 2015 Even though I wasn't bothered about Colossus's look particularly, that repainted bit looks mighty fine. Good work Thorpe Quote
Ian-S Posted May 22, 2015 Report Posted May 22, 2015 Only the rest of Merlin's portfolio left to paint now! (Even Smiler needs it) Never mind the rest of the portfolio, they got to finish Colossus first.... Quote

SYNAW Posted May 22, 2015 Report Posted May 22, 2015 More painting was going on during the evening today... They had a cherry picker up on the first drop and someone in the guards on the inlines. Its going to take a while, but at least it isn't being closed to do it. (Source: Seen by myself while working on zodiac today) Quote
paige Posted May 22, 2015 Report Posted May 22, 2015 I honestly didn't realise how badly it was needed until it's happened, I just thought it could've done with a clean. It really looks great, though which surprised me slightly! Quote
Coaster Posted May 22, 2015 Report Posted May 22, 2015 I must say I'm pleasantly surprised to see Colossus finally receiving a repaint. Only time will tell whether it is the whole ride or not, but at the moment it definitely looks hopeful. Top work Thorpe. Cal 1 Quote
Cal Posted May 23, 2015 Report Posted May 23, 2015 Looks soo good It did really need this. Would be surprised if they only did parts of the track though, would look a bit odd. Surprised me they're doing it mid season though. Quote
JoshC. Posted May 23, 2015 Report Posted May 23, 2015 When I did a lift hill climb on Colossus a couple of months back, I asked about whether they would repaint it. I was told it's something they'd had on the cards for a long time, but felt it was difficult to get it all done in one closed season and it was slightly difficult logistically to get it sorted. Wasn't given any indication that a repaint would happen, so clearly something has happened since then. I guess starting now to make sure they can get it all done for next season is the aim. Quote
gabbygrace Posted May 24, 2015 Report Posted May 24, 2015 This makes me, so, so happy!! looks so much better now!!! Quote
