Benin
No one here knows anything about when the ride will open... It will open when Merlin and the park are happy it is safe to run and not before...
TPJames
foreseeable future is changed to further notice on thorpes website The website always stated this. It was only social media teams who were claiming that it would be closed for the "foreseeable future".
RobF
Speculatively since Thorpe park have today advertised saw on the summer nights ride line up do you think we will see saw reopening shortly ? Surely they wouldn't advertise it in the confirmed line up if it was uncertain ?
Ian-S
IIRC the Summer nights stuff was posted before SAW closed. Also I wouldn't hold much stock in the sites accuracy since Summer Nights says Colossus is open and the Island Beats bumf says it isn't.... Celia Mae
I think there's different stuff open on nights where Summer Nights AND Island Beats are on, due to proximity of rides to the stages and stuff
Ian-S
You missed my point, Summer Nights and Island Beats are the same event on the same day, the difference between the two is one gives you access to the concert, the other just the park. But that's moot anyway because the Island Beats info now says Colossus is open.

Project LC
Well done Merlin, you have impressed me with the handling of the situation and reopening saw far quicker than expected. JoshC.
It'll be interesting to see if there's been any noticeable operational changes, or whether they've kept everything the same. Glad they've reopened it just as the summer season is kicking in!
pluk
Great to see! With a 60 minute queue apparently! How does that compare to the rest of the park? Is that fairly hefty weekday queue indicative of some operational changes causing a drop in throughput, or is it just that it's busy / everyone wants to get on with only a couple of hours operation today? Jack F
(from queue-times.com) eek...
huzzellio
The rest of the park was reading as a significantly shorter queue. I assume it's because everybody twigged that it was operating and rushed over there. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Coaster
Great to see! How does that compare to the rest of the park? Is that fairly hefty weekday queue indicative of some operational changes causing a drop in throughput, or is it just that it's busy / everyone wants to get on with only a couple of hours operation today? It's got an 80 minute at the moment (according to the queue times website) and the next longest is Loggers Leap which is showing as 25 minutes. Glad to see the ride is reopen, let's hope they can increase overall ride reliability now!
huzzellio
An 80 minute queue at 5.00pm on a weekday is certainly not normal. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
planenut
This is good news, apparently all is running okay, as expected, and hopefully that will reduce some of the other queues. Now come on HSE, sort out the other and declare the findings, let's get on, before the holiday period really takes hold.
MachoMachine
My precious Saw, this has definitely brightened my day! Interesting to see if any changes have been made James Allgood
Matt 236
Great to see Saw reopen following its lengthily sagetly closure due to Smiler which is sooner than I expected (even if it's my least fav of the big 5). 60 minutes queue isn't surprising especially as it often receives lengthily waits. Wonder if we will see all eight cars continue to operate and when the safety results of Smiler are out?
Ian-S
It was 90 minutes on a Friday in April, so 80 today is to be expected considering it's been closed for a while.
Matt10
The queue itself isn't that full yet it is only running at 5 trains and has checks on the block section before the final inversion every other hour. As well as this, none of the interior purple lighting is on, instead being pitched black. Finally when it was testing it has only had one train outside, one in the interior and three in the station its being run slowly during testing, taking a minute up the lift and nearly stalling in multiple places, yet the ride with people is similar to before but with more braking force n locations and brakes that didn't kick in before being activated. pluk
Ian-S
More braking? Surely that would increase the chance of a stall.
OldFarmerDean
I went on it Saturday and Sunday and noticed no difference in operation, only braking being the lift hill of course and at the end, at one time I seen 3 cars on the outdoor section. Cal
This video shows how slow it has been testing - https://www.facebook.com/themeparkguide/videos/vb.163052343750073/841496099239024/?type=3&theater
JoshC.
Going up the lift hill slowly is literally nothing to worry about during testing. The motors which power the lift hill take a while to warm up essentially, so the first tests of the day are always quite slow. The lift hill will speed up after each test - after many many tests, it is fine.
