Matt 236
I know Merlin can be expensive, but nearly £1800 for 3-5 people getting Premium is surely out of hand! Other sale rises are surely because the price went up anyway.

Charlesberg
It's ridiculous, the standard pass (without the deal) now costs more than my premium pass back in 2013. Plus, I don't like the design of the newer passes (the older one made me feel so much more important). Ian-S
Stuntman707
I got an email from Merlin for a free 3 month Now TV cinema pass. The trick is to cancel it once it starts. It will ask "are you sure? A few times but just cancel and it will still work until September without charging for a renewal.
Benin
Like every free trial thing then? Interesting freebie though, but only Cinema? When Game of Thrones is coming?
Marc
Apparently since this article Merlin confirmed during an earnings call their interest in buying the Busch Gardens parks https://skift.com/2017/08/07/merlin-hints-at-interest-in-buying-seaworlds-busch-gardens/
Benin
Would we not rather they get their existing houses in order first before spending further monies?
Quorn
Yay even less money for the Merlin parks which are already struggling with a lack of staff

Quorn
Just now, Marc said: You could also look at it on the flip side, a more successful US business could bring more capital for the rest of the group. (I'm not saying that will happen but we certainly should just assume this will mean less money here!) That is true. If I'm correct the Busch parks bring in a lot of profit due to Tampa being all year round.

The lack of vision or any exciting future for Thorpe, Chessington and Alton really don't inspire confidence that they could run the Busch parks well, aside from bleeding it dry from profits and budget cutting. Benin
>Is claustrophobic >Goes on attraction which involves sitting in a tight area Could've been worse, being trapped in Weymouth itself is bad enough... I'll sure they'll be talking about this for ages (they still go on about how Harry Styles was there filming Dunkirk)...
Mega-Lite
There's a difference between being claustrophobic and being up there for 10 minutes and being claustrophobic and knowing you're trapped up there for a lengthy period. For me on planes it's all plain sailing, until you reach Gatwick, everyone's standing and crashing into each other and the pilot says we are waiting for Gatwick to attach the platform and I can't say how long that will take. That wasn't nice. I see where you are coming from though. That apology from Merlin was a bit crap.
Coaster
Seven hours is a long time for people to be trapped in a small space without access to a toilet etc, you can't blame them for being angry.

Benin
The company needs another park with a broken reputation like a hole in Nick Varney's head... Not the best idea they've had, though I'm sure Sea World would be a decent money maker if you managed to get the public back onside... Ringo
The interesting point is aren't Sea Life and Sea World still incompatible together? Article is 5 years old but still relevant Quote SeaWorld promotes and profits from maintaining cetaceans in captivity for public entertainment, while SEA LIFE (owned by the Merlin Entertainments Group) is adamantly opposed to keeping cetaceans in tanks. SeaWorld officials criticize anyone who calls for the early retirement of performing cetaceans, while SEA LIFE fights for the development of retirement sanctuaries for these same animals. Why does this stark contrast in opinions matter? Because The Blackstone Group, one of the world’s leading private equity firms, is the parent of both SeaWorld and SEA LIFE–two aquarium-based companies that are on opposite ends of the spectrum. MattyMoo
Yep, what TarinMaria said. Stop using the "abandoned" theme as an excuse and sort out what you've got already instead of spreading the company funding even thinner.
