HermanTheGerman
We will be able to tell. Mostly because it's being spent on aesthetics this time round, rather than backstage improvements that no one will ever see. dk3
JoshC.
Surely the budget can't be that big though?  The rumoured Zamperla WaterMania thing surely can't have been that expensive, so the money that would have gone on that isn't going to stretch far.  Great to see improvements to rides if it happens, but as always with Chessington, it's only a case of believe it when I see it now. dk3
Benin
It's disappointing that it must be one thing or the other, rather than the best solution which would be refurbs AND a new ride... dk3
Matt 236
I think refurbishing what they've got so far as the best idea. After all, aside from scorpion, Fury, Wild Asia & Zufari (to a lesser extent), much of the park needs major work not to mention many rides in their current state are on their last legs. dk3
SteveJ
I've no reason to believe the Zamperla thing was anything more than a myth. A small budget can go a long way, from the figure I've heard quoted it's big enough. But that doesn't matter, what matters is the improvements made and it may even surprise your pants off. Also it's actually nearly been completed already as far as I understand it. pognoi and dk3
Coaster
If there are clear improvements next year then I can understand this decision.
AstroDan
Why can Alton Towers not manage to do this?
TraX
I just saw on Twitter that Chessington have denied there was ever a new attraction, other than their camping thing. I wonder where the rumor started of a new ride anyway?
HermanTheGerman
Um, they had 'New Ride - Coming 2016' on the park map... Chaz, Mysterio Ka, OldFarmerDean and 1 other

Matt 236
That was either a stupid mistake, misinterpreted by management or refused at a very early stage I guess. Either way, big yay for updated existing rides as they need it. Wonder ehst will be closed next year though?
HermanTheGerman
They were given the budget and things, but they rather stupidly decided to advertise the new ride before they'd even done any ground tests (or even decided on what they were getting). I'm also under the impression that they weren't 100% sure of where the ride was going either.  They're hideously unorganized at the moment, and this is a prime example of it. Benin
To be fair, Chessie have been rather unorganised for a long time...
Matt 236
Maybe as early as 2006 maybe. 2016 will be an interesting year in the way to see what's open and what's been changed/changing on rides both open and closed. I reckon Tomb may not be coming back and will be used for the 2017 attraction depending how well WC16 goes. After all, 2017 is the next scheduled big investment for the park. Ryan
Â After all, 2017 is the next scheduled big investment for the park. Â It doesn't sound like they even know what's happening next year, let alone 2017! lewumbrajumbos
Matt 236
It doesn't sound like they even know what's happening next year, let alone 2017! Quite likely, I am just going by that scheduled report thing they did a few months ago. Â I may well not even a pass holder anymore in 2017 with the way things are going at the moment. OldFarmerDean
It's funny how they haven't replied Have they blocked you... Thorpe park did to some people regarding Derren brown / wc16 stuff... The social media accounts are so bad with inconsistent replies and blocking people etc.

TraX
It really does show you exactly what Merlin think of their customers, in hoping that no one notices their false advertising, by sweeping it under the carpet, or moving the goal posts. Exactly the same for Thorpe saying Loggers will reopen when the company knows that it won't. Buy your annual passes fast guys. Eidderf
From what I've seen on their twitter they seem to just seem to be denying that there was any new ride and that the new 'attraction' was their glamping experience. Â I don't really get why Chessington have been focused on hotels and stuff lately, I've always enjoyed the park on my visits but there's not really enough there to justify staying the night. Nosferatu
I think we all knew that this wouldn't turn out to be anything significant. Chessington getting any decent rides would be a miracle at this point.
