July 13, 201312 yr comment_163147 I think its closed for the next 2 weeks because of a technical problem the post that says about it is on the last 1 or 2 pages Someone posted on facebook if anything will be closed on Tuesday and they said nothing planned.
July 13, 201312 yr comment_163148 No I love Slammer was so scared going on this ride for like 3 years but now it's one of my favorite flats along with Samurai hope it's back and working soon
July 13, 201312 yr comment_163157 It won't be I'm afraid it will take a while to fix the problem as it wasn't working today.
July 14, 201312 yr comment_163229 Didn't see one engineer working on this ride today whereas there was engineers working on vortex all day. Could be waiting for a part to come maybe?
July 15, 201312 yr comment_163319 Just because it's unique doesn't make it good. I find it really dire, just like its throughputs.
July 17, 201312 yr comment_163445 It wasn't open on 10th July when I went.... ! I think I've been on it once - it never really seems to be open when I go and I go at least twice a month!
July 17, 201312 yr comment_163463 It wasn't open on 10th July when I went.... ! I think I've been on it once - it never really seems to be open when I go and I go at least twice a month! Well this is like the first time it's been closed this year
July 20, 201312 yr comment_163715 Still shut and no action happening to Slammer today. As ThorpeAddict said above, still waiting for a part I guess.
July 20, 201312 yr comment_163722 Still shut and no action happening to Slammer today. As ThorpeAddict said above, still waiting for a part I guess. Get it off catapult
July 22, 201312 yr comment_163874 Spoke to a member of staff and apparently it got stuck up the top (wouldn't lower) with people on for well over an hour, and that it wouldn't be open for the rest of the season; did wonder why it said CLOSED on the queue times instead of Unavailable!

Starts off with chessie with closing rameses for the rest of 2013 now thorpe with slammer...
July 22, 201312 yr comment_163876 Starts off with chessie with closing rameses for the rest of 2013 now thorpe with slammer... Many staff members in the past have also said Slammer was being decommissioned, with the ride ending up open a few weeks later. I would always take bold comments like that with a pinch of salt...
July 22, 201312 yr comment_163877 and when samurai had the sign last year saying closed til 2013 season, and they fixed and opened it for fright nights... I don't know about all season but I could see slammer being down a while, as they know it's not opening by putting a sign by the entrance and changing it's status on queue time to CLOSED which all the other rides which are down say Unavailable.
August 10, 201312 yr comment_165117 Slammer update and yes, it is still closed. It has also vanished from the two queue line boards completely and the website has been updated on the Slammer page to say Slammer is currently unavailable to ride at the moment. One positive though, it still has all of its signage up which is a good sign that it will re open.
August 10, 201312 yr comment_165127 I'm missing Slammer, it had become a must do ride this year for me on every visit (since the friends I usually go with have actually started to enjoy it) and then it breaks! Typical!
August 13, 201312 yr comment_165279 If there is one ride, which has showed that at least one thing Thorpe Park does have is perseverance. They really don't seem to want to let go of Slammer without a fight.
August 13, 201312 yr comment_165286 Well they wouldn't be because its the only sky swat freefalling in the world and attracts people that love that sort of ride including me
August 13, 201312 yr comment_165291 It also looks pretty impressive and draws you in more than most flats (probably more than any flat they could replace it with!)
August 13, 201312 yr comment_165293 The ride has had a lot of efforts made within it and I strongly hope it will remain at Thorpe for some time. This is ride I love for the sensation of it feeling unsafe and fast at the same time.
August 14, 201312 yr comment_165352 Well they wouldn't be because its the only sky swat freefalling in the world and attracts people that love that sort of ride including me On that note, I have seen nothing from Thorpe to say "one of a kind" or "world's only" or anything of that nature. Not usually Thorpe or even Merlin's style to miss out on such a marketing opportunity.
August 14, 201312 yr comment_165355 Catapult at Six Flags New England was removed in March 2013 before the start of the new season, leaving only Slammer at Thorpe Park the only Sky Swat operating in the world. : from Wikipedia
August 14, 201312 yr comment_165367 I'm sure that the uniqueness of the ride will be a push for Thorpe to continue operating it as much as possible.
