coastercameron98
Could this mean new restraints?? Doubt it, more than likely it was just a typo. As nice as new restraints would be the chances seem minuscule to me - I'm sure there are other things they are more worried about first. Furyishere
Probably a typo, however I have seen similar rides to vortex and the height restrictions imo are correct, over 1.4m to ride. with that being said, I believe I saw a ride the same as vortex called show time where the hight restriction was over 1.2m to ride, this could be due to the restraints on Show Time tho. I would like to see Vortex stay at the park, but from posts I'm seeing it sounds like a lot of work needs doing.
Han30
Only ridden this once on last day of season (was too scared before-hand) Regarding restraints - would be nice if the had some where you can hold on to something.....or maybe that is just me
Worthy9992
Most euro fighters are normally 1.25M to ride the I think they moved it up to 1.4M due to the horror nature and it does say on the ride board under 12 advise with adult don't understand why as I don't think the horror nature is that bad
Tom
^ What relevance does this have, we're talking about Vortex? Probably a typo but not impossible that it could have new restraints.
Ryan
^ What relevance does this have, we're talking about Vortex? Nah this is the new for 2014 ride - Sawtex Furyishere, Fred, Tom and 1 other
JoshC.
Likely a typo. To say "If you are under 140cm, you can ride" implies that anyone under that height restriction can ride (and, possibly, anyone over it cannot. Think like Temple of Mayhem at Chessie for example). Regardless of if new restraints occurred, that wouldn't happen. Not saying that there's not a chance of new restraints or a lower height restriction, but you can't read into that at all in my opinion. tomglazed
Probably dreaming a dream but recent events make me more inclined to think they are more willing to look at their existing rides and how they can be improved (Swarm Backwards, X). At the end of the day, most of the time it'd be cheaper than buying a whole new ride so something for a mid-term investment year? Fred
Considering the rest of the rides say "if you're under 140cm you can not ride" it's obvious they just forgot to add the not in. Closed season creating a page of discussion, that's impressive!
Cal
From the photo that thorpe park uploaded on their instagram today, Vortex is still there and it looks that its in operation? Have no idea when the photo was taken obviously. Link- http://instagram.com/p/kAA7pNkgOQ/
Ricky
That was taken last year( some point in January/February) I believe when they uploaded loads of external engineers checking all the coasters track connections, as well as other things such as cracks/general wear and tear. EDIT - here is said photos from February 27th 2013 https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151485759765867.543841.27217550866&type=

Rich
So was just having a browse at Chance's website as Submission is being removed and I find out that Vortex is designed by KMG but made by Chance under the name of "Revolution 32". http://www.chancerides.com/rides/images/revolution_32_specsheet.pdf Just thought I would share this! Even Thorpe's 2013 press pack states that Vortex is made by Chance Rides/KMG. http://www.thorpepark.com/downloads/press/THORPE-PARK-Press-Pack-2013.pdf
jom222
I wondered why it said that in the press pack.
pluk
Well I never knew that, I fully expect it to fall in to many pieces at any moment then. I've always considered 'chance rides' a statement of caution to riders, they don't have the best record around. Rich
GladiatorFanKyle
Maybe they could replace the KMG vortex with a Fabbri afterburner?
Barnes
I was going to say the weather looks great in that photo so was definitely not recent.

Coaster
That's great news, as it was running really badly last year.
Worthy9992
Well the max hight you got last year before it started to stop. That's only half way through the new cycles rOsSwA28, Cal, dragon2000 and 3 others
tomglazed
I unfortunately wasn't able to attend Thorpe Park last year so to hear that Vortex wasn't reaching a full height is pretty surprising. I'm guessing there was some kind of mechanical limit they'd put on it to reduce wear and tear or had wear and tear meant the ride was struggling to reach it's full height? Toby Tidal Wave
Such good news! I avoided Vortex last year because of its weak operation with short cycles!
