June 11, 201411 yr comment_185169 Shame that it looks like (quite suitably) utter junk then... Great concept, poor execution... Merlin strikes again!
June 11, 201411 yr comment_185170 Heres a concept v's real thing - missing the coaster track "ribs" behind the Shark I think they look pretty close just being made up of Thorpe Park themed scrap and not just wood
June 11, 201411 yr comment_185172 I really like the idea, but I feel that it could have been executed so much better without a huge stretch on the budget. For example, a generic themed path and fence going through a shark? Surely the one in the concept art would have been better? Also, the concept art promised that we would have a cross between Stealth and Formula Rossa behind it (Yes I am joking).
June 12, 201411 yr comment_185186 Christ.... this park just get worse. Apparently there's a market for crap, so Thorpe Park are making the right decision.
June 12, 201411 yr comment_185205 Although the person who took that photo can't use HDR, I think the Shark actually looks quite good!
June 12, 201411 yr comment_185227 At the end of the day, at least we KNOW this is gonna end up being demolished in a few years when the real hotel gets built. It's not like we're stuck with it like Storm Surge.
June 24, 201411 yr comment_185750 From Scruffy Dog I've tried to like it, I admire its originality and ambition but... It's awful. Just looks like what its made out of, trash.
June 24, 201411 yr comment_185753 I think it looks quite nice, yes it literally is rubbish but it's unique and at least in that Instagram filter it looks quite cool tbh
June 24, 201411 yr comment_185754 ^ It's not an Instagram filter, it's bad Photoshop skills I really like it. I just hate the colour of the fences.
June 24, 201411 yr comment_185801 I've made it no secret that I've liked the Shark from Day 1. However, I do see people's concerns / dislikes about it. Personally, I thought it looked a bit more vibrant and colourful than the photos show. It doesn't really look like junk in person, more like a collage of metal. On the other hand, I'm disappointed that the inside received no "scrap pieces", showing all the metal framework. It looks a bit dodgy and untidy really; would much rather have seen it given more piece on the inside for a more complete feel. It still looks great from a distance, but close up, perhaps not so much.
June 24, 201411 yr comment_185804 It was never going to be a masterpiece... Just a quirky idea to add the the temporary hotel.
August 3, 201411 yr comment_188048 Just got sent the pre-arrival email from THORPE. Has the 1hr of fastrack always been like that?: "In the morning, Hotel guests and Annual Pass holders will be given First to Ride access to the Theme Park approximately 15 minutes before opening time. You will then have Fastrack access to all available rides from the time the gates are opened to the general public for one hour!"
August 3, 201411 yr comment_188052 The 'first to ride' for annual pass holders has been going on pretty much all season. The Fast track access for the first hour however is just for hotel guests, which I think has also been going on since the shark hotel opened.
August 4, 201411 yr comment_188112 Depth Charge and *something* in Lost City is now open til 9pm during August for Hotel Guests. I've heard it's Zodiac, but then I saw Rush running late, so not sure what's on offer.
August 4, 201411 yr comment_188113 Depth Charge and *something* in Lost City is now open til 9pm during August for Hotel Guests. I've heard it's Zodiac, but then I saw Rush running late, so not sure what's on offer. They did this last year with Vortex, but it was for everyone not just hotel guests. Shame it's only hotel guests now. Hopefully it's Rush or Vortex
August 4, 201411 yr comment_188115 Assuming that ordinary guests are still allowed to eat at Bar 360 after park close like last season, then I don't see why it can't be extended to all guests?
August 4, 201411 yr comment_188116 Zodiac, vortex, depth charge, carousel and mr monkeys are open till 9pm for hotel guest at the moment
August 4, 201411 yr comment_188117 That's good as it caters for all the family . Certainly weird though as carousel and monkeys are located at the back of the park?
August 5, 201411 yr comment_188124 All of those rides only need one member of staff to operate I think (maybe 2 for Vortex), whereas a coaster would cost a lot more to keep open.
September 27, 201410 yr comment_193229 Hmph. Can I just ask how many shipping containers make up the hotel?
