EC!
Great thorpe! Its fantastic you still want to bother with the thing after its terrible downtime record so well done
JoshC.
A working Slammer is a scary sight - one fit for Fright Nights indeed! (But glad to hear it will hopefully be working for the park's busiest period )
Benin
Same as last year then... Silly Slammer...
Mattgwise
May as well just make the rides permanent opening schedule March until May and September to October. This happens most years. MattyMoo
Marc
Good to know the park are dedicated to keeping Slammer running! Look forward to it reopening Mattgwise and dragon2000
Coaster
This is great to hear! Well done Thorpe, good to see that they are still prepared to get it running again.
Matt 236
I'm very pleased to hear this. Slammer is unique ride and will surely be an impressive one ridden at night.
Cal
Looks like Slammer isn't going to open for the rest of this season: http://www.thorpepark.com/downloads/plan-your-visit/thorpe-park-gatemap-2013-FN.pdf Disapered of the map for fright nights
BigBobJones
Keeps your fingers crossed as there was a sign saying Samurai was not going to re-open until 2013 last year, but they got it up and running for Fright nights
Cal
Oh yeah hahaa, well I hope so tbh
Fred
I think noone thinks it'll reopen - gone from the map, signage gone, restraints gone. Slightly different pretending it doesn't exist rather than having a sign saying it'll come back whenever!
OldFarmerDean
How do we know the restraints are gone... This isn't Rameses revenge BigBobJones
MattyMoo
If it is going, I really hope Thorpe don't leave it SBNO for the 2014 season, that area near Saw Island is bad enough with CCR remains and Saw Alive being derelict for most of the season! Cal
No I reckon it will reopen for the 2014 season tbh, but how do you know restraints are gone?
Coaster
I really hope that Slammer does re-open next year. It is a unique (and in my opinion very good) flat ride and I will really miss it if it goes.

It is a unique (and in my opinion very good) flat ride and I will really miss it if it goes. Couldn't agree more, My favorite flat ride, and to be honest, it fits like the space that it's in perfectly, and it never has a que But Thorpe said they panned on getting it open on Fright nights, which they now say is very unlikely, So I'm pretty sure it'll open next year Coaster
BigBobJones
I would be interested to know the faults that the ride is having as many people have mentioned that the ride is often down for most of the year. Is it the same part which keeps going or is the fault different each time? Gggggggg
Cal
Well I know what was wrong last year as I was told by a member of staff, but I'm obviously not aloud to say. But if it's something to do with the restraints or something to do with under neath the ride, it's not the same problem as there was last year. BigBobJones
I'm going to play this one by ear as you never know we may have Slammer open for 2014, it may well be removed or it could indeed be replaced by something better. Pickles
I wouldn't pin any hopes on it being replaced, planning permission would have been submitted by now and we have none...

Whilst I agree it's unlikely to be replaced, I wouldn't count it out just yet. There's still time for a replacement to be sent in, etc. Though the park would have to stick to a tight schedule to open it for the beginning of the new season. Then again, it could just be replaced by something which doesn't require planning permission; a picnic area or something for example. James
How do we know the restraints are gone... This isn't Rameses revenge You can see the lack of restraints quite visibly from the Colossus lift hill. There's a rather large skip next to Slammer now and that's where I'm hoping it'll end up. They could always replace it with Slammer shaped hedges. Gggggggg
Joshuathorpe
My last couple of trips to Thorpe Park I've seen Slammer out of action for a lot of time now. I think they should get rid of it and build a new flat ride, because slammer has been out of action for ages. Maybe this could be a new possibility for something new next year, or maybe they're not giving up with slammer just yet! Bring on 2014. Altitude
It's unreliable but still popular with guests. Will it go? Maybe. Will it stay? Perhaps. And after literally a year of dull discussion we still do not know. Edited October 1, 2013 by Tommy Merged topics, thanks
