  1. Started by Theme Park Fanatic,

Is it true that this closed season Chessington is receiving the most refurbishments ever. By this I mean the biggest overhaul refurbishment undertaken during closed season.I’ve heard they’ll be no rides open in February due to the major refurbishments. I wonder if any Rides will receive rethemes or be removed. I wouldn’t be surprised if Scorpion Express is removed. This ageing Chessington classic was becoming more unreliable each season. I seriously worry that the fire the ride had in July was the end of the line. My logic says Chessington wouldn’t invest in an unreliable ride that is gaining more faults. Furthermore in 2019 I was told that Scorpion Express would…

  3. Hi guys. I have very exciting news for you all this afternoon! According to Attraction Source, Chessington is holding a public exhibition showing off a “new attraction” on Wednesday 16th November: https://www.facebook.com/213894828494/posts/pfbid0298cGVxYnMfoovWQpQqqzfcgNkxuW9Scqmez8dJMMRmGj1QR8X29epFeWzG3AXCdjl/ Little else is known other than that, but details will apparently be revealed on the 16th, and there will be a public consultation period running until the 30th. Isn’t this exciting? I wonder what it could be; I’ll admit that I wasn’t expecting another major investment at Chessington so soon after Jumanji, but I guess it would make sense…

With Chessington officially opening tomorrow, I thought it'd be interesting to start a topic based on Chessington's media coverage- after seeing some interesting pictures yesterday/today aimed at promoting Madagascar Live ^^Very nice way of getting the word about and creating attention, and the idea of the animals in the city even fits in with the story of Madagascar itself! :DAround 5.20pm today I also heard the end of a Chessington television advert downstairs but didn't see any of the advert itself! :(It is very nice to see that despite their low investment in Chessington, Merlin are still serious about getting people through the gates and that they're giving CWoAR som…

  6. Started by yeah,

Chessington have been putting alot of new merch out recently, so to go with the Thorpe Park one might as well start a topic! Alot of the new merch has also appeared at Alton and Thorpe, eg. Those weird ride face keyring things and loads of pin badges, however Chessie have put some good stuff out including a lovely magnet feat. Dragon's Fury, Vampire, Black Buccaneer, Kobra, Scorpion Express and Zufari, a new Vampire mug (which is nowhere near as good as the last one), a mug with that promotional image they always use at the start of the adverts and stuff, and alot of Adventure Tree merch. So things are going very well merch wise at Chessington.

New for 2014 - The one and only Gruffalo joins the Chessington cast from the deep dark wood for a festive family show on the Africa Stage, followed by meet n’greets and a themed quiz trail to lead inquisitive children around the Zoo where they’ll come face to face with some familiar creatures. http://www.chessington.com/explore/event/chessington-winters-tail.aspx

I didn't know if there was a topic for this or not but I am wondering something anyway! Guys if you have a merlin annual pass is it free to access chessingtons zoo days or is there a £5 event fee? If you don't have to pay do you need to pre-book or do you just go and scan your pass on the turnstile as normal? Thanks

So who remembers Circus world? You'd have to be over a certain age to remember it considering it closed at the end of 1994. Specifically does anyone remember the play area/ interactive area they had when it first opened 1987-1989 ish.. It was in the 'sideshow' booths around the lands parameter, but they weren't sideshows as in uncharge games but were these soft-play type elements . It included a climbing structure that was inside the entrance towers to the area and included a helter skelter tube slide down the second tower... it was like the parks first soft play BEFORE the long defunct Adventure house soft play area that was in the old Elephant house! …

I couldn’t find a thread for Coney Beach, so I’ve started one. Not sure how many people have even been to Coney Beach here, but it’s somewhere I’ve been quite a few times since I was little and they have my favourite KMG Afterburner I’ve ever been on: Beach Party! I started this thread because I noticed that Beach Party looks to be up for sale online *cries* (so if anyone wants to buy it for me, I’ll give you free rides on it in my garden ) Jokes aside - if Beach Party really does leave Coney Beach, I will be so sad!

Corkscrew, in my opinion is still the 4th best Rollercoaster at Alton Towers, it provides 2 great inversions and is plenty of fun for all the family. Although it can band your head a little!9/10

So their new Twister (crazy mouse) ride is open, was supposed to be open back in May, but I think it only just opened end of last month! So found this video off ride, and they're building wooden barriers around the ride, while the ride is open, surely that's safe right!? And I wonder if it's actually going to be themeing, or if they're doing what they probably had to do to the other big rides to block the sound of screaming for the locals.

  21. Started by Matt N,

Hi guys. While it’s probably one of the lesser known defunct UK theme parks these days, I’m led to believe we have quite a few people on here who grew up in the UK in the 1990s, or were more generally around in the UK in the 1990s for that matter, and know about Mr Blobby and Crinkley Bottom in Cricket St Thomas, Somerset. So I was intrigued to know; did anyone ever visit this park in the brief period it operated? And if so, what did you think? I must say it’s a park that looks intriguing, and quite a strange one to imagine as someone who wasn’t alive in the 1990s. As someone who mainly knows Noel Edmunds as the host of Channel 4’s Deal or No Deal, I can never…

Chessington have submitted plans to replace Rameses Revenge with a drop tower. Key facts: -25m tall -12m tall crocodile feature with water effects that the gondola will 'splash' into -16 riders -Rotating gondola with one free fall drop -Flying Jumbos to be relocated to the old Carousel site to make sufficient room. Just found this on Youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPD4CAa61V0It's labelled as 1980s but the Vampire opened in 1990 of course Very interesting footage - including a bit of the 5th Dimension. The Runaway Mine Train is noticably faster, and it's amazing how exposed the Vampire looks compared to how integral it looks now, 21 years on! Also shown is Dragon Falls, and you can see they have the "year" sign on the drop so that it shows in the photo - remember those days?

Following the reveal that House of Monsters would not return for this year's Scarefest, speculation increased about the long-rumoured Cloud Cuckoo Land retheme. This seems more and more likely now: https://www.altontowers.com/2020/
