April 17, 20169 yr comment_232588 Nice to see! Aside from Tidal's fireball, if we're still even counting that, does that now mean all of the previous operational effects on Thorpe rides are currently working?
April 17, 20169 yr comment_232589 From TPM's Facebook page: You sure it's not just a couple of enthusiastic vapers in the back row?
April 17, 20169 yr comment_232596 Aside from Tidal's fireball, if we're still even counting that, does that now mean all of the previous operational effects on Thorpe rides are currently working? No. Was on park today, no water splashes on Swarm, no geseyers (though I haven't seen them for a while) or mist on Inferno, and the blades after Saw's drop weren't turning and some of the speakers and screens weren't operational. Also didn't see the tidal water tower go off
April 17, 20169 yr comment_232598 Glad it's back, looks good! Lets hope it lasts more than a few months this time though
April 17, 20169 yr comment_232599 No. Was on park today, no water splashes on Swarm, no geseyers (though I haven't seen them for a while) or mist on Inferno, and the blades after Saw's drop weren't turning and some of the speakers and screens weren't operational. Also didn't see the tidal water tower go off Hmm I was there today and saw water splashes on Swarm (I actually got wet!), and saw mist on Inferno. Didn't do Saw so can't comment on that. I also saw the Tidal water tower running every time I was looking at it. Maybe a bit hit and miss!
April 17, 20169 yr comment_232601 Yeah we saw the mist not working and the swinging axes were on off throughout the day. What we really need is the speakers back in X
April 17, 20169 yr comment_232603 Noticed the mist wasn't working at around 12:30 but was back over at inferno at 3/3:30 and it was definitely on. Swarms water splahes were working every train and saw the Tidal water tower go off more than once (beleve it goes off every 15 mins-ish)
April 22, 20169 yr comment_232970 Yay my favourite yearly topic. Ride effects and how long they'll work. Haven't seen the Stealth smoke since 2007, hope it's still on in 3 weeks.
April 24, 20169 yr comment_233191 Does anyone know as to why stealth as been opening at about 11 over the past few days or so?
April 24, 20169 yr comment_233193 The weather has been getting better, and as far as I know, Stealth doesn't like the heat.
April 25, 20169 yr comment_233214 Does anyone know as to why stealth as been opening at about 11 over the past few days or so? Staggered opening times? Stealth doesn't like the heat? - Lucky it's in England then
May 13, 20169 yr comment_234639 I went this and last Thursday, and Stealth was been running fine this week with only a couple of hiccups last, due to positioning on exit and someone choosing to share their lunch with the platform. One guy who tried the test seat outside and was convinced that he fitted it, was declined on the ride due to being "too large" - this makes it extremely difficult for ride hosts who mostly are youngsters and have to make rapid, politeful decisions; team did well. Cracking weather both days, cracking rides.

May 14, 20169 yr comment_234650 I thought it (along with most coasters) didn't like the cold, which causes the wheels to contract and alter the cohesion, slowing the trains down.
May 14, 20169 yr comment_234652 Stealth tends to be the only coaster open in the cold at thorpe. E.g snow days a few years back
May 15, 20169 yr comment_234750 There are more stoppages in the heat and that's normally down to sensors.
May 18, 20169 yr comment_234871 Stealth yesterday ran at 100% performance, and the ride ops. again were in full control. It is difficult at times for them to have to deal with such a varied assortment of "general public", with some even wanting to decide on their family's harness and seating arrangements. One lady even trying to follow an operator checking the harnesses on her entourage again, which obviously cannot be done and means that the op. has to re-check them. The team again, were very tactful and that's certainly an asset to a well run ride.
May 19, 20169 yr Popular Post comment_234966 As Stealths wheels heat up, the train moves faster around the circuit. By "opening later" they are essentially delaying the amount of time it takes for the wheels to over heat. Stealth in hot weather will shut down due to an over speed error message at least once an hour on days in excess of 25 degrees Celsius between the times of 12pm and 4pm. Back in the days when I worked on it the average time it took to complete the circuit was around 17/18 seconds, in the extreme summer heat it would go as low as 11/12seconds.
May 19, 20169 yr comment_234969 Thanks for that insight Ricky I had no idea the heat makes such a staggering difference.
May 20, 20169 yr comment_235119 Went to TP today, third visit in two weeks, the luck of living nearby. To start with the park opened earlier than recently at 0930; all well and good, but neither Saw, Nemesis Inferno nor Stealth opened at that time. Decided to wait in the "no it's not available" queue for NI as I could see them testing, to find when on the first ride, Stealth had started testing. Got on Stealth and after the first trip, someone decided to share their breakfast with everybody on the exit stairs; got the first train after that, in the seats, and the staff gate went faulty. All off, engineer came to the ride quickly and fixed said gate, and all went well for the rest of the day. Very few park visitors, and along with others re-rode continuously several times during the last hour.
May 20, 20169 yr comment_235120 ^I believe that Friday opening times are now 9:30-6 up until Fright Nights now! How many trains were on Stealth (/other coasters) out of interest?
May 26, 20169 yr comment_235448 Stealth is closed today. (A long with X, obviously...). Stealth seemed to shut on Tuesday and has been shut since. Bit of a cheek TP posting it's picture saying "Happy Hump Day" yesterday, in retrospect
May 26, 20169 yr comment_235468 Two coasters down. Great way to ease the disappointment of DBGT opening late Thorpe... (Please don't take this post seriously).
