  1. Started by OldFarmerDean,

Isn't it about time we could be discussing what potentially we could or would want to see at Thorpe next season, considering we're almost sure it's not going to be a coaster, and well they need some sort of investment as X and swarm backwards shouldn't have cost too much, and unless they got ripped off Angry Birds land looks like it shouldn't have cost them a fortune either. I bring this topic up because Screamscape have put in their news... 2015 - New Themed Ride Concept - Rumor - (5/16/14) According to an early rumor sent my way, Thorpe Park may be looking into building a new highly themed ride concept for 2015. Anyone else know more? With Merlin trying their hand at…

Please don't hate me for starting this topic so early in the year... So I've noticed on the FN section of the new main site, they've got this... https://www.thorpepark.com/events-experiences/events/fright-nights/ Would seem to indicate that they're all returning, as I would have thought on a new website, it would have been easy to give the most relevant information (so, even if they don't want to announce new mazes, they could just say horror mazes based on Lionsgate films, for example). Could simply be a mistake though I guess.. So, what would you like to see at Fright Nights 2014? New films for the mazes? An Asylum retheme? Keep the same themes and focus on p…

The dark days of closed season are upon us once again, another season has come and gone. So how was 2013 for you? For me: Highlights -Ministry of Sound nights. So so so much better than I was expecting, a great all round event that showed the park at its best. -X. I know the change was not loved by all but a big improvement for me. The laser only rides I've had were actually outstanding. -TPM meets. Loving the generosity of the park with their time and access. -The 'feel'of the place. I don't know why, things just felt nice this year. A nice relaxed atmosphere around the park. -Seeing some effort go into general upkeep, Lowlights -The mrawS, stupid gimmick. Just …

Ive noticed abit of a debate starting around the forums about the £5 entry charge for Standard Annual Pass holders to Fright Nights with it being compared to Scarefest at Towers which have no such fee but charge for 2 out of the 3 mazes and was curious to get a general opinion on what you prefer. Personally Id much rather pay the £5 event fee which allows me to go on all the mazes without paying any extra whilst on park (Of course if your a premium pass holder I this this is free anyway so premium holders get the better side of the deal at Thorpe) I'd say the majority of the guests visiting at Fright Nights / Scarefest have an intention on doing the Halloween attractio…

  8. Thorpe Park has expanded terrifically over the recent years to become the great park it has now become. However along the way, the park has sadly closed and removed a number of rides attractions. Out of all the many lost rides at the park, which one do you miss the most?

I recently acquired a relatively old book about Thorpe Park, published in 1981. Entitled 'The Book of the Park', this is one book you can judge by its cover - it covers the park in great detail as it was. Of course, in 1981 the park had only been open for a couple of years, and so the place is completely unrecognisble. With this book being older than a large number of members here, whilst it's highly unlikely to bring any memories back to anyone here, it's still an interesting look. The book itself is 130 pages long and in full colour. I don't know if it was avaliable on park as something to buy, something that was used locally as 'advertising' and given away fro fre…

With The Swarms opening season out of the way I'm sure the park have started to think about their next big thing already, so lets join them! If the MTDP is adhered to we have a couple of fairly barren years ahead, but then we should be hit with something special again. Yesterday Ride Rater posted this Now that might be the most non committal, easily guessable almost non rumour you are ever likely to see, but the stuff on there is often reliable and there's no reason to think it's not grounded in some sort of truth. For me it would be the best possible news if it came true, a modern woodie of some sort is long overdue in the UK. We have lost out while the rest of the w…

Just come across a 1990 brochure on Flickr, not seen it before. Interesting how much pride the park took in its history, the attention to detail in its rides, and general pride in cleaning, maintenance and customer service. Who knew even back then they had a 16 track sound studio to produce their own show and ride audio? http://www.flickr.com/photos/65600336@N08/

  14. Started by Mr_Monkey,

I visited Thorpe Park many times as a child and got my first job there in 1995, working in the Crown and Anchor pub in the Dome (Mountbatten Pavillion). At that time it was decorated with wooden panels "...375 years old with a musket ball in one of them..." The rumour was that there was an old manor house on the site that was pulled down and the linens saved before the quarry started. In this shakey rumour, the musket ball was fired when soldiers came to arrest someone - the first missed and the second got the target. It was highlighted by a circle with cross bones at the top. I've done a lot of research and, although the M25 and M3 resulted in a lot of historic building…

  16. Started by JackR,

With THORPE PARK asking their focus group attendees to answer the question: 'What does fear mean to you?' I reckon that the park will attempt to make the mazes much scarier. I'm really hoping for a new replacement maze this year for The Curse although that seems extremely unlikely with the introduction of E10 last season. Anyway, this got me thinking about Fright Nights and even if the topic does remain dead for a couple of months; there is no harm in making one now! Post everything about this years event here, and hopefully over the coming months some info about the event will become clear...

Hi allI'm really sorry if this has already been posted, so if so, feel free to move or close me!On park for opening day today and there curiously seems to be a new fence being put up around Miss Fungle's Safari that stretches around the back of Nemesis Inferno and to the Sing Star building. Is this the start of the work for the 2013 ride?I contemplated it being the fence from Fright Nights and that Thorpe had just neglected to take it down... Until I saw workmen putting it up instead..

Does anyone know yet whether there will be 'The Swarm' Annual pass preview event for 2012?I would hope if they do, they would not let in Annual Pass 'Friends', It was not fair last year, but I would hope they do, do the event again because it is great to get a first look at the ride!Another thing; why do American parks usually have big opening ceremonies sometimes including large shows, fireworks or a speech by the creative designers for their latest attraction, big or small whereas in the UK, They just open the gates on the 14th march and straight on the ride? It’s a shame because both Saw and now possibly Swarm will miss out on a big opportunity to open with a bang!

  24. Started by Marc,

There is no doubt as we lead up to the opening of The Swarm there will be huge media attention surrounding the ride, so please place any media related to The Swarm herehttp://www.google.co...11322745044214A - Found this, looks like its already had its first marriage proposal!
