  2. Ahem It’s a meet, I’ll be going anyway for the social aspect and the laughs! (Also I never said that I only wanted to go back for Big Top and night rides, think you’re confusing your own opinion with mine )

  6. I always look forward to Fright Nights every year and love the event however this year with all the rumours and by the looks of the direction the event is heading in I feel no hype what so ever. If The Big Top does not return (please god no) then Thorpe have a really made a bad mistake. In my honest opinion who's smart idea was it to remove a fantastic themed indoor maze which was one of the best last year and replace it with a old returning outdoor walk through when there is already one of those (Platform 15) plus Sanctum. It just makes no sense, it's not even a new attraction it's a 'returning' attraction and probably the weakest out of all the Lionsgate mazes in my opinion. If Big Top is going I would much prefer to see a NEW maze in it's place. The way the current rumours stand it seems only 2 mazes could be indoors this year with the remainder outside which is pretty crappy. Obviously all is rumours until Thorpe announce anything but the way it is currently looking all I can say is Thorpe really need to pull there finger out as this is looking like the end of Fright Nights, it feels the passion has gone and they just don't care anymore, just all about making that money. I'm already tired of all this Walking Dead stuff and it's not even October! Just waiting for all this to hopefully blow over, at the moment I'm 50/50 about attending the event at all. Fingers crossed the rumours could be wrong (unlikely I know).

  7. I was set on going to Fright Nights this year. BT, P15 and LN were all good to varying degrees last year, Saw OK and Sanctum awful. Normally once a year do mazes and rides in the dark which is all good fun. But Saw has been open all summer, we had LN Extreme early on in the year and plenty of chances to ride coasters in the dark this year. So there's no real motivation to go for any of that as have done that already, and in the case of LN, will be a downgrade on what we had earlier on in the year. Still, Fright Nights would give me a chance to do Big Top (the highlight of the year at Thorpe IMO) and Platform 15 (second best last year, but far below Big Top) , so still it was worth it. But if it is true, replacing Big Top with (barely better than Sanctum) Blair Witch, then that means the only motivation to go to the overpriced, overcrowded Fright Nights is Platform 15. Not exactly much in the way of persuasion. I hope Blair Witch is replacing Sanctum, as at least that would be a small improvement, instead of a huge huge loss. If Big Top isn't there, I can say for definite that I won't be going.

  9. Big Top going (if indeed it is going) really is Thorpe shooting themself in the foot. It has easily been the best maze over the last two years of fright nights (that’s not saying a lot really given I find the other mazes ok at best) aswell as being the only maze in the events history that I would put up there with The Freezer/Asylum. A massive shame if it’s going and vindication to me in my decision to skip the event this year.

Just a quick question... Recently I came to Towers for the 4th time and had my 3rd ride on hex. I understand how the ride works, the storyline doesn’t scare me and I just find the whole experience hilarious (not sure why - I’m strange). The thing I don’t understand however is that every time I’ve been on it, I’ve cried. Granted, the first time was probably frightening as I was only 11 but I’m now older and it doesn’t scare me in the slightest. I’m just confused as to how it sets off tears... Does anyone have any answers?

  15. CHIP 7706 is a staff thing and has absolutely zero relation to Thorpe's next big thing.

  16. Big Top v1 was atrocious though, it has been much better in 2016/17 through leaving more time to get it built up and configured well - that and the fact it was pretty much an entirely different maze to the 2015 version. I don't think the lack of any construction is too worrying at this stage, but leave it much longer and it means there's less time to build a decent quality attraction and a rush job is more likely. Also, I don't personally find outdoor mazes to have the same appeal, so TBT swapped for Blair Witch (IF that is what's happening) would be very disappointing IMO.

  17. Why would they remove Big Top though? It was consistently one of the most popular mazes for the past 2 seasons, and IMO the most solid in the lineup last year. Only reasons I can think of are operational cutbacks and/or a lack of skilled staff to build and configure all the effects?

  19. Nah, sod Asylum or Experiment 10, the maze everyone wants back for 2018 is the amazing ‘The Passing’ of course! Always missed those highly detailed white-painted walls, UV death certificate and the £3 up-charge, all with a black bag over your head the entire time, hiding your eyes from Hellgate’s previous theming. But, admittedly, 2010’s ‘Dead End Terror Zone’ is the one that needs to come back more than any other. Nothing screamed “2nd to Disney” quality more than a single actor jumping out from behind Mr. Giraffe with a Tesco Value Halloween mask on their face. Ah, those were the days... ?

  21. So basically you are still guessing, with little to no evidence or any rumours! Can I see the copy of the Lionsgate contract you have? Could you also add some structure to your post, it's all over the place and very hard to follow. Adding paragraphs for each maze, would have been wonderful.

  22. Nasher - I’m not quoting your previous comment as it is too long but... Jesus bloody Christ! I’m sorry but did you go to school? Or even nursery? Also most of the ‘rumours’ you mention are your own awful opinion that you try to cover up with the word ‘rumour’. We all see it bud! Its just completely absurd that you think Studio 13 could return but not Blair witch, when the Blair witch path is literally the only space with enough room which is deemed ‘safe’ for the park to use for a RUMOURED (correct use of the word) new attraction. I’m sorry if this comes across as offensive or rude but I’m sure I’m being the voice of many others who don’t say it as they don’t want a warning or ban from the site. STOP FILLING THESE FORUMS WITH YOUR STUPIDITY!!!!

  24. Nasher, I’m sorry. Fantastic thoughts and opinions there, honestly, truly magical, and how you’ve reached some of those conclusions, you deserve a pop badge or something.... But come on man, paragraphs, grammar, spaces - I’ve got to go and lie down after that absolute twaddle. I’ve got a headache. By the way, Saw Alive has always been on a boat...

  25. I must admit I do find the theories funny. I love how much stock people take from the staff. I do think it’s a bit like Chinese whispers amongst staff. I also find it incredibly hard to believe that the management of the park tell seasonal staff all of the latest information. As for the Studio 13 stuff, it might come back, but how often do you ever see a maze come back thats been totally canned?? The props are used in zombie hunt but is that not as zombie hunt was low budget and somewhere there is a bit warehouse of the old props they decided to use?? How about we all just enjoy the summer and see what the park announces???

  27. I preferred it in the days they used the midnight syndicate music. For several years every attraction had a different track. It's very generic audio wise now days and reduces the atmosphere greatly IMO. You couldn't beat humpty dumpty on Detonator! I still thoroughly enjoyed platform 15 and, Big Top last season and am still looking forward to FN this year.

  28. Hi All, I'm a bit of an amateur photographer and took my camera with me on Tuesday (10/07/2018). Quite happy with some of the shots. Please note that I have personally taken the images and if you do wish to use them elsewhere then please ask my permission first, but just really wanted to share these! Hope you like them.

Hex appreciation time! From my glorious trip through this fantastic attraction 2 days ago, I believe some subtle tweaks have taken place during the closed season. The interior queue is no longer as bright as it was just after the refurb, it's now much darker and holy crap does it give me the chills. The audio in the cinema portion is no longer distorted and sounds fantastic. Audio in the octagon is the loudest I've ever heard it and the volume of the lightning strikes made me jump, beautiful stuff. Hex is just so damn good and it never fails to put a smile on my face.

  30. And to think, that was only the first phase to Platform 15's reimagined, plan.

  31. It’s probably worth mentioning at this point that the team responsible for Fright Nights in 2016-17 have long since departed the island. Each of them are watching on with baited breath. Long live Big Top.
