The dark days of closed season are upon us once again, another season has come and gone. So how was 2013 for you? For me: Highlights -Ministry of Sound nights. So so so much better than I was expecting, a great all round event that showed the park at its best. -X. I know the change was not loved by all but a big improvement for me. The laser only rides I've had were actually outstanding. -TPM meets. Loving the generosity of the park with their time and access. -The 'feel'of the place. I don't know why, things just felt nice this year. A nice relaxed atmosphere around the park. -Seeing some effort go into general upkeep, Lowlights -The mrawS, stupid gimmick. Just …

Ive noticed abit of a debate starting around the forums about the £5 entry charge for Standard Annual Pass holders to Fright Nights with it being compared to Scarefest at Towers which have no such fee but charge for 2 out of the 3 mazes and was curious to get a general opinion on what you prefer. Personally Id much rather pay the £5 event fee which allows me to go on all the mazes without paying any extra whilst on park (Of course if your a premium pass holder I this this is free anyway so premium holders get the better side of the deal at Thorpe) I'd say the majority of the guests visiting at Fright Nights / Scarefest have an intention on doing the Halloween attractio…

I thought id start this topic, becasue I'm new, and wanted to see one like it. I think, I'm using too many "I"s. Serioulsy, I'm not sure if anyone has spoken about anything of this, but, theres alot of empty/unused land behind Logger Leap area. To my knowledge, there used to be boat things back there, and, somehting like that should come back, like the pedaloes in the lake next to Megaphobia at Oakwood, which will allow for interesting/different angles for pictures. Also, if it was opened up a bit, the whole area, oculd include some kinda Dark Ride, which Thorpe lacks, unlike a few other good parks, like Gardaland, Italy, which have some amazing dark rides, great themeing…

Hi allI'm really sorry if this has already been posted, so if so, feel free to move or close me!On park for opening day today and there curiously seems to be a new fence being put up around Miss Fungle's Safari that stretches around the back of Nemesis Inferno and to the Sing Star building. Is this the start of the work for the 2013 ride?I contemplated it being the fence from Fright Nights and that Thorpe had just neglected to take it down... Until I saw workmen putting it up instead..

Thorpe Park Radio was the park’s own on-site radio station that played chart music and ride & show adverts to guests in the ride queues.Unfortunately this Thorpe Park classic was taken off the air at the end of the 1996 season.Does anybody else remember Thorpe Park Radio?

I recently acquired a relatively old book about Thorpe Park, published in 1981. Entitled 'The Book of the Park', this is one book you can judge by its cover - it covers the park in great detail as it was. Of course, in 1981 the park had only been open for a couple of years, and so the place is completely unrecognisble. With this book being older than a large number of members here, whilst it's highly unlikely to bring any memories back to anyone here, it's still an interesting look. The book itself is 130 pages long and in full colour. I don't know if it was avaliable on park as something to buy, something that was used locally as 'advertising' and given away fro fre…

Just come across a 1990 brochure on Flickr, not seen it before. Interesting how much pride the park took in its history, the attention to detail in its rides, and general pride in cleaning, maintenance and customer service. Who knew even back then they had a 16 track sound studio to produce their own show and ride audio? http://www.flickr.com/photos/65600336@N08/

I visited Thorpe Park many times as a child and got my first job there in 1995, working in the Crown and Anchor pub in the Dome (Mountbatten Pavillion). At that time it was decorated with wooden panels "...375 years old with a musket ball in one of them..." The rumour was that there was an old manor house on the site that was pulled down and the linens saved before the quarry started. In this shakey rumour, the musket ball was fired when soldiers came to arrest someone - the first missed and the second got the target. It was highlighted by a circle with cross bones at the top. I've done a lot of research and, although the M25 and M3 resulted in a lot of historic building…

Here you can post all your theories and ideas about Project LC12. I'll start off with my first idea.I think this roller coaster will be a new concept ride, probably manufactured by B&M. It will be situated on one of the new islands behind Stealth, and will be based around some sort of nuclear explosion or disaster. Picture this:You enter the queueline through a big doorway in a huge power station-like building. The queue would then weave through the building, with riders travelling along long creepy corridors. The boarding station is like the boiler or control room, where the riders board the train. The train would then travel through a short tour of the building, eve…

Does anyone know yet whether there will be 'The Swarm' Annual pass preview event for 2012?I would hope if they do, they would not let in Annual Pass 'Friends', It was not fair last year, but I would hope they do, do the event again because it is great to get a first look at the ride!Another thing; why do American parks usually have big opening ceremonies sometimes including large shows, fireworks or a speech by the creative designers for their latest attraction, big or small whereas in the UK, They just open the gates on the 14th march and straight on the ride? It’s a shame because both Saw and now possibly Swarm will miss out on a big opportunity to open with a bang!

What are your favourite memories of Thorpe Park? We all have those favourite moments....... let's disscuss them here.Well mine would be of a few years ago, Tidal Wave was being built and it was back when Thorpe used to have fireworks. It used to be on a Sunday, my family and I would go to the pub where my auntie lived and have a meal there. We would get to Thorpe by 3/ 4pm and the entrance price was like ?10.I remember riding Rumba Rapids in the dark- full of mist and you couldn't see where all the water jets were. The next would be eating Burger King and watching the fireworks. On the way out of the park, we always finished the day off with Depth Charge, and then we used to…

Showing my age now but I used to love Space Station Zero. I know it was a tame ride, but it was the very first roller coaster I went on as a child so it is special for that reason alone. Does anyone have memories of it before it was turned into the Flying Fish?PJ

After Runnymede's recent site rebuild its now easier to find past planning applications, some of which are quite interesting including plans from when RMC planned Tidal Wave, before Tussauds took over and gave us what we have today.Just head to http://planning.runnymede.gov.uk/Northgate/PlanningExplorer/GeneralSearch.aspx and enter "Thorpe Park" under address.
