  1. Started by Ash,

Well I am quite surpised this hasn't been brought up on the Generel Theme Parks board. So I have decided to create this topic about Chessington. Discuss anything relating to Chessington here.

  2. This topic is for anyone with a Question or Questions regarding Alton Towers. Also, this topic can also be for Alton Towers discussion is general.

Chessington have announced plans to build a new land themed around the Amazon Rainforest. The land will feature a launch rollercoaster as well as two children’s rides! Online consultation has started regarding the land with the new rollercoaster being described: Guests will be propelled on a car through banks and turns before coming to a dead end on the track adjacent to a themed structure on the southern part of the site. The car will then be propelled along the same route back to the station located on the north east part of the site. A hard standing ride maintenance area is to be provided adjacent to the ride station. The exact details of t…

  4. Discuss the fun, fast and zany ghost train that is....Duel! What I find funny about this ride is that it is definetly one of my favoriots in Alton, just beating RITA and AIR! And that zombie just before the tunnel scares the pants off me every time!

  5. Started by Dan9,

Well Alton Towers is hosting an adrenaline week this week, which I will be attending on Saturday and Sunday! According the website, Alton will also be opening its gates for February Half Term, but without the full line up. Details on the "We love Winter" page on the Alton Website.Discuss Alton Towers News here!

From what I gather, the annual Scarefest hearse has appeared on Towers Street once again (earlier than normal too I think?), so it seems appropriate to start up a thread. And to start things off, there's been some reductions to the opening hours, with the first Mon-Fri of the event being cut for 10-9 to 10-7 (linky - http://www.altontowers.com/useful-info/opening-times/#tab-themepark-oct). A bit of a shame, especially as it won't even be dark by then, but I guess it could be a lot worse. Many on other forums are kicking up a fuss about it, so it will be interesting to see if we see another infamous Towers Reversal there... As for what attractions we'll see, there's be…

.... Or, if you're a right little minx, you could try shooting the back of someone's head, that's always fun!Lol, seriously though, Tomb Blaster is cool. good themeing, engaging, and is apparently better than our Northern interpretation of the ride.talk about it or suffocate

  8. Hi guys. In recent years, I think it’s fair to say that Alton Towers have had a bit of a nostalgia push, for lack of a better term. In 2023, the park revamped Duel into The Curse at Alton Manor, which harked back to the ride’s roots and brought back something more akin to the Haunted House from 1992 (while Curse is not the Haunted House, it’s a haunted house with enough shared DNA that I think the two could be conflated with one another by a casual visitor). In 2024, the park retracked Nemesis. And in 2025, the park have opened Toxicator, which brings back a ride akin to the late Ripsaw from 1997 (while Toxicator is not the Ripsaw, it’s a Top Spin with enough shared DNA t…

It looks like there is potential for a UK Universal attraction. Taken from Attraction Source: Universal have registered the domain names “universalstudiosgreatbritain.com” & “universalgreatbritain.com” using the same registrar as their other park website domains around the world In September. Comcast, the owner of Universal, recently acquired a construction and development company on 31st August called Cloud Wing UK Limited. Cloud Wing UK was itself already the parent company of two UK subsidiaries, Kempston Hardwick Developments Ltd and SC Collection Ltd, meaning Comcast indirectly acquired these companies and their assets. F…

Considering I haven’t really gone out of my way to research it, I’ve read & watched a few things this week that has made me realise how much trouble Merlin seem to actually be in. With a large restructure going on across the business in the coming months, redundancies in Merlin Magic Making which is confirmed to be shutting down soon, the closure of Bear Grills, new projects shelved, 2 brand new Legoland parks having devastating low attendances, the operational cuts we have seen in the UK this season, and multiple midway attractions closing their doors around the world, Merlin seems to have found itself in some trouble. Clearly I am absolutely …

With all the credit crunch and the fact that a lot of the rides at the Pleasure Beach are old, and half of them are owned by the bank, do you think Blackpool Pleasure beach will survive much longer?. what are your thaughts

What will the 2013 coaster be or you hope it to be.I can see it being the worlds largest '2nd hill' drop at over 250ft thinking that the valley is already 200ft deep so having a chainlift a little higher will work a treat especially if they have it like the steel phantom coaster at kennywood! A woodie would be nice but as John and worwenna said at the Th13teen evening Alton towers do not want a woodie because they have done research that people dont like woodies or for those who want it closer to home 'to dangerous' but I challenge both alton and the guests researched into saying there are hardley any woodies left in the UK for people to try and or trust!

Does Legoland Windsor brick or treat during the weekday during school term or is brick or treat only during weekends during school term time even though parents do take their children on holiday on weekdays during school term time.

Flambards in Cornwall is going to have a bumper 2023 season. I have many happy memories from multiple visits to Flambards as a Kid. If you have memories from this attraction please share them. Moreover if you have any ideas on how Flambards could be improved speak up. I think Flambards could do with a major refurbishment and the introduction of Themed Lands. Flambards opened as a Theme Park over 30 years ago. In these 3 decades the place has seen minimal changes. The fact Flambards has hardly evolved gives it a unique charm and reason to return. It looks like major changes are the plan for Flambards going forward. In 2014 Flambards was bought by a Na…

Big news from Chessie then. https://www.cwoa-consultation.com/ TL;DR Wild Asia to be rethemed with a new coaster. Kobra survives. The Glamping binned off too as seemingly only on temp permission anyway. Mexican (but not Rattlesnake) killed off for a land akin to CBeebies. Other stuff like Lodges (when did that happen) and Water Park are on-going.

  20. Started by Stokesyboy,

So Zufari is down on the Chessington website to be opening on the 20th March 2013. Here's the picture on the website: Do you reckon it will open before this date on the annual pass preview days? Could this date be the one for the website as it will be the first time the general public will get to go on it rather than advertise it being open for Passholder day?

We need some more alton topics, so here another one!Well when Rita was announced it got alton fanboys pretty excited. But since its opened, its recieved mixed reviews. Its like Marmite, you either Love it or you hate it . Rita has been criticised for its long queues followed by short ride times, but some people find it a great ride full of airtime and great turns.Launching from 0 - 60 mph in 2.4 seconds, it takes you on a journey through UG Land, with twists and turns everywhere, and 3 airtime hills in the center of the ride. Thunder Rock Rally Radio plays around the ride, which some people have critcised also for not fitting in with the UG Lands prehistoric theme, and th…

Hi guys. It's been 4 years since Alton Towers' 8th Secret Weapon, Wicker Man, opened, so I thought SW9 deserved its own speculation thread! I made this thread, however, because we've now had confirmation as good as any that SW9 is well and truly in the pipeline; Nathan Graveson, a designer who worked for Intamin and designed the likes of VelociCoaster, Toutatis and the Parque Warner Madrid launch coaster, has announced that he is now a project director for Merlin Magic Making, and has stated SW9 to be one of MMM's upcoming projects. He said the following, and the bolded explicitly references SW9: "I also have a massive announcement. Since my recent depart…

Hex is a fantastic ride - on of my favourites at Alton Towers! As we know, Hex came about during the restoration of the towers. The bookcase was removed to reveal a doorway behind it, after unbricking it, the secret vault with the branch of the oak tree was stored in there.I'm a little confused - was this bookcase in the Octagon, and if so, was it where the steps are where you go up to the ride? e.g "behind" the central column of the Octagon when moving forward through Hex.Also, is that the branch tree in the middle of the Hex ride? I touched it briefly as we left. It felt real. It looks a little dusty yet I'm sure it's been treated to preserve it for the ride, after nearl…
