OldFarmerDean
Basically... Get new trains like this for Colossus, and you could even advertise it! Personally I hate Colossus's restraints as they're far too bulky and hate feeling so overly clausterphobic from being tall - lap bars would seriously make me love the ride, as it probably is my favourite in the park, just the trains let it down! Benin
Anything would be an improvement on Colossus' trains...
planenut
Love the Colossus ride, dislike the trains, terrible if you get a cramp. As to the Italian job, saves me a trip further than TP.
jom222
Lab bars would be a great thing to have as it would stop the head banging and I would actually ride it.
paige
Is there still a massive bang as you go up the lift hill? Or is that another coaster I'm thinking of?
coastercameron98
Is there still a massive bang as you go up the lift hill? Or is that another coaster I'm thinking of? I think you may be thinking of the Mini Mega from Adventure Island... Quite the loud and worrying bang as well
paige
I know Mini Mega does it but I'm sure Colossus' lift hill stutters at some point or makes a noise.
Coaster
Yeah it makes quite a loud rattle as the train leaves it. paige
Cal
Yeah it makes quite a loud rattle as the train leaves it. Yeah I was gonna say that, you can hear it from ages away haha. It still does it but I believe it has always made that noise?
paige
Yeah I was gonna say that, you can hear it from ages away haha. It still does it but I believe it has always made that noise? I remember the noise from the first time I went to Thorpe so it must've been happening for atleast 4 years.
Mitchada04
It's the chain dogs clicking when the car detaches from the chain and the back speeds over it (or something to do with that) So I'm guessing it's done it since it opened. I do love the noise though! It's basically the iconic Colossus noise, heard it by Inferno yesterday and I've heard it in the car park a few times. Fred
Wonder how much a couple of new trains would cost. If a decentish price might be worth it as it'd be quite marketable!
Coaster
New trains with lapbars would be amazing! The current trains are terrible, worst coaster trains I've seen I think. OldFarmerDean and Cal
EC!
I don't think it is the trains that are bad it's just the unnecessarily clunky sized restraints that make it unpleasant. If they change them in the future I'm all up for it, but Colossus getting lap bar trains is as likely as Colossus getting a repaint so I doubt it will happen any time soon! paige
Maybe it'll get a paint job and new trains for its 15th birthday! But I think if they did repaint it it could end up looking somewhat tacky as it could end up being rather bright and it wouldn't fit in with the 'lost city' theme as much as it does at the moment. Benin
I think just Intamin hate tall people, even on Stealth I have to contort weirdly to get into the seat, whilst I just don't bother with a back row on Colossus because I literally cannot get in/out... Hideous design...
paige
Maybe they were cutting costs by putting the seats practically on the floor.
pluk
I thought Colossus was the smoothest I've felt it in years on Saturday, it seemed to glide round beautifully. New trains would be amazing, the current ones don't seem to be a fan of me breathing, but if it ever happened I'd be beyond shocked.
Olistjj
I remember on a school trip to THORPE we had a seminar with one of the chief engineers and he was explaining that Colossus was one of the first rides its company ever installed and because of this, they were inexperienced and this meant that a lot of the ride was tweaked as it was being constructed, such as the support pole tops, most of which had to be bent on site as they didnt fit, he referred to it as a high quality botch job Just thought this was an interesting fact I'd share with you lot, you may already know it Coaster, SteveJ, c1hrisin and 1 other

I spotted this today, what is red and white tape doing around the track, and how is it staying on with the wheels passing over it!?

Flipper
YOLO. Hopefully this is something really major that signifies prolonged downtime and heavy maintenance of Colossus. I hate Colossus Also, I noticed yesterday that there's now a birds nest in the Cobra roll... One for you to look out for
planenut
YOLO. Hopefully this is something really major that signifies prolonged downtime and heavy maintenance of Colossus. I hate Colossus That's not nice, I want all the rides working all the time, it reduces the queue on the one I want to be in.
tomglazed
What's even more "not nice" is opening a ride with problems that go unfixed . Also, I don't know if it's lighting as well but this picture shocks me at how grotty the track has become. They did a good clean and tidy up this closed season, maybe the next will be Colossus final repaint.
