So the general election is happening THIS THURSDAY. And we don't even have a thread for it? Disgraceful. Discuss all things electiony here. Are you voting? Where do your allegiances lie? Or are you apathetic to the whole process and feel much bigger change is needed? Even if you're not old enough to vote, still feel free to contribute your thoughts! (PS: This thread could get very opinionated and very messy very quickly; let's try and keep handbags away from this yeah? )

So recently after owning an iPhone for many years and it being the only smartphone experience I've ever known, I decided on switching to Android. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro and its rave previews so far have been compelling enough for me to make the switch. There's also a pre order offer of their new smartwatch and wireless charger added in for free too which has just sold me over the new iPhone XR at a similar price point to the Mate 20 Pro. I'm wondering if anyone else has made a similar switch and how easy they found it using a different operating system?

I have recently relocated to the tiny town of Kingsbridge in Devon and am wondering if anyone knows of, or can recommend any Halloween events or attractions in the county. I'm up for the full range from scare mazes to pumpkin patches and hayrides. Muchly appreciated!

So I'm on the hunt for some new headphones and I'm wondering if anyone in here could help. My current headphones are the Sennheiser CX 3.00, while they're great I'm finding that when listening to music loud, the sound distorts, especially when there is more going on in a song. I'm ideally looking for some over-ear headphones in the £100 to £200 price range which have a good level of bass and still sound good when the volume is turned up. Wired or wireless doesn't matter but I prefer wired. Thank you to anyone who can help!

Right, as this conversation refuses to die I've split it off from Loggers Leap topic. I've done the best I can to move posts that leave both threads making sense and relevant. Hard hats on, this thread could be dangerous apparently......

Hi guys. Television has been a huge part of society for many, many decades now; it's been around for far longer than I have, and many aspects of popular culture as we know it revolve around and/or were started by TV. A TV is viewed by many as an essential within the home these days, and at a guess, I'd say that the vast majority of people in the developed world at very least own a television. However, I've noticed a vast change in people's TV viewing habits within the last few years. The more traditional scheduled approach to TV watching seems to be decreasing in popularity, with streaming services like Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime amongst others increasing…

I heard on the news this morning that Jade goody only has 8 weeks to live. I've been reading this from the start, doctorss had hoped they could cure her with a drug of some sort, but now that's been withdrawn. She is so young, and leaving behind 2 lovely kids, who are also just starting their lives. I just think it's so sad, I wonder how the kids will take it

Border Force at Heathrow will be taking loads on over the next few months. When getting a job in the Civil Service or Border Force don't expect to be carrying out the job you joined for, but it opens the door to permanent good employment. https://www.civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk/csr/index.cgi?SID=b3duZXI9NTA3MDAwMCZqb2JsaXN0X3ZpZXdfdmFjPTE1MDA1MTEmcGFnZWNsYXNzPUpvYnMmb3duZXJ0eXBlPWZhaXImdXNlcnNlYXJjaGNvbnRleHQ9MjIzOTI3NDQmc2VhcmNoX3NsaWNlX2N1cnJlbnQ9MSZwYWdlYWN0aW9uPXZpZXd2YWNieWpvYmxpc3QmY3NvdXJjZT1jc2ZzZWFyY2gmcmVxc2lnPTE0Njg1OTAyMzItODVlMWY1ZmMzN2QwN2Q2Y2VhYjBiZGNkY2M2ZmI1NTJiZWU1ODIzYw== Worth looking even if it's not your bag.

I've had a voice in the back of my head begging to make a thread for this for a while. and so I decided that I'd do it today. I'm sure, most of us here at some point in our lives have at least fantasized about working in Theme parks, doing certain roles; from dispatching rides to designing the experiences. So here's a series of questions for you. 1. At what point did you get a reality check? At what point, did you go 'nah, I want to be'....'a (insert job here) instead!'. 2. Have you guys ever had any experience in the trades? 3. Why did/n't you stop? 4. What was your dream role? I'm interested to hear what you guys have to say after I've seen a lot of pe…

The London 2012 Olympic's is finally here! So discuss in this topic: Events Medals (lots of golds hopefully!) What you think about the Opening Ceremony? What do you like? What don't you like? Thoughts on the venues? And many more about the coming two weeks that you might want to discuss! Or for the pessimistic of you all: What are your not-so-favourable opinions on the Olympics? Waste of money? Bad for the economy? Bad for the environment? On your marks. Get Set. DISCUSS!

Hi all! So some of you are already aware that I am in my final year of university. A big part of the final year is a dissertation. My dissertation is a study and I would absolutely love it if you lovely people will participate! It's an online survey and should take you no more than 30 minutes. The only requirement for participation is that you are over 18. My study is looking at what factors determine the decision to release offenders. The link is below: https://portsmouthpsych.eu.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_aVS4cTIdULj5SnP It would massively help me out if people do participate; I need nearly 160 participants! I shall be eternally grateful (and you may well …

Just to see if anyone would like to talk about the supposedly boring Politics subject, but seeing as it's pretty on topic due to recent problems in the credit markets.. Anyone?I personally support the Conservatives, however I think they need to take a leaf out of the Monster Raving Loony Party's book, click here for more info!Lovely policies including pianting the white cliffs of Dover blue, 99p coins brought into circulation, air conditioners on the outside of buildings to combat global warming, and a law stating socks are to be sold in threes to ensure you still have a good pear if you lose one.Anyone have any serious political thoughts? I know I probably sound dry but …

Once again, a double decker bus has hit a railway bridge in Staines whilst carrying school pupils on their way to Thorpe Park. This is a highly marked bridge with signs that flash when a high vehicle approaches. Luckily nobody seriously hurt. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-surrey-32088386

I had the box on the other day, and there was a news item where the presenter was talking about theme parks opening up, and people in the picture had to be secured by another for safety, a ride in Legoland; I then heard a voice that I immediately recognized and they then showed the speaker and I was right. I used to work with the guy twenty-five years ago, and haven't seen or spoken with him since. Funny old world. I don't do facebook or similar, I'm a bit of a dinosaur, so the chances of getting a message to him are slim.

Popular YouTube games critic, John Bain aka TotalBiscuit died of cancer yesterday. I guess if there is one word of advise he gave about cancer it’s this; If you notice any type of bleeding, for god’s sake see a doctor. Don’t ignore it or shrug it off even if you may find it embarrassing. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-44250597
