So it's official, this season we'll see a 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here' themed attraction: http://www.thorpeparkmania.co.uk/news/12-02-2015/I'm-a-Celebrity-Attraction-for-2015 Warning: The article containers some construction pictures and possible small spoilers. A quick run down: -Opens March 27th -Located in the Hideaway -Quite a few special effects -Family friendly -Retheming of the Calypso BBQ to the 'Bush BBQ' --- I must admit, I'm a Celebrity was a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine until a couple of years ago (when I just couldn't be bothered to watch it). I remain a bit sceptical about all of this, but I think it could tur…

I recently acquired a relatively old book about Thorpe Park, published in 1981. Entitled 'The Book of the Park', this is one book you can judge by its cover - it covers the park in great detail as it was. Of course, in 1981 the park had only been open for a couple of years, and so the place is completely unrecognisble. With this book being older than a large number of members here, whilst it's highly unlikely to bring any memories back to anyone here, it's still an interesting look. The book itself is 130 pages long and in full colour. I don't know if it was avaliable on park as something to buy, something that was used locally as 'advertising' and given away fro fre…

Just come across a 1990 brochure on Flickr, not seen it before. Interesting how much pride the park took in its history, the attention to detail in its rides, and general pride in cleaning, maintenance and customer service. Who knew even back then they had a 16 track sound studio to produce their own show and ride audio? http://www.flickr.com/photos/65600336@N08/

Hi allI'm really sorry if this has already been posted, so if so, feel free to move or close me!On park for opening day today and there curiously seems to be a new fence being put up around Miss Fungle's Safari that stretches around the back of Nemesis Inferno and to the Sing Star building. Is this the start of the work for the 2013 ride?I contemplated it being the fence from Fright Nights and that Thorpe had just neglected to take it down... Until I saw workmen putting it up instead..

The dark days of closed season are upon us once again, another season has come and gone. So how was 2013 for you? For me: Highlights -Ministry of Sound nights. So so so much better than I was expecting, a great all round event that showed the park at its best. -X. I know the change was not loved by all but a big improvement for me. The laser only rides I've had were actually outstanding. -TPM meets. Loving the generosity of the park with their time and access. -The 'feel'of the place. I don't know why, things just felt nice this year. A nice relaxed atmosphere around the park. -Seeing some effort go into general upkeep, Lowlights -The mrawS, stupid gimmick. Just …

Do you guys think we'll see another (obviously minor) new ride next year, improvements around the park, a small attraction, Colossus repaint or will the back seats on Inferno be turned around zomgfgfgfg!!!?!?!1!? I think there'll be some minor repaints, renaming of a few food outlets and the pointless waterslides on Amity Beach being removed.

Surprised we don't have a thread for this yet... To kick this thread off (since opening times are being talked about elsewhere), it has been revealed that, as expected, the Annual Pass Day this year will be on Sunday 18th March. Yay. Use this thread for any discussion of the 2018 season generally (shock horror!)...

With Fright Nights well underway the 31st is fast approaching - the park have started some very early marketing for 2019. A sign has gone up over the exit and a page has been setup at https://www.thorpepark.com/2019 to sign up to be the first to hear more information on 2019. So what would you like to (realistically) see for 2019? I’m not expecting any new attractions for next season and that’s probably a good thing - the park can really focus on what it has and going from there. For me id like to see: Clarity on Loggers Leap future - if it’s returning or not I think this really needs to be decided /…

For things that will occur during the 2020 season and isn't really something being done over closed season I felt it was right to create this thread. Thorpe Park are getting proper lifeguards next year this year (link to job ad for the supervisor position): https://merlin.csod.com/ux/ats/careersite/4/home/requisition/5304?c=merlin The description states that Amity Beach used to be run by the attractions department (didn't know that tbh) but they're transitioning to lifeguards: I'm not sure why they've made that decision but one could make the leap that they're planning on doing something to that area for 2020/ future years.

Hi, been searching everywhere for the original Black Hole soundtrack, but can't seem to find it anywhere. Wandering if anyone could kindly post the link? I have seen a few you tube videos, so quite unsure if maybe they made more than one, because if you watch some POV videos one track is different to another, so this is getting me confused? Some have said the original was called ''pendulum'' and others have said it was called Powershaft by a composer named Barry Taylor who apparently wrote the Detonator soundtrack, which doesn't make any sense to me!!! Just wandering because the pendulum soundtrack sounds very similar to a P…

Due to brave it alone no longer being offered I was wondering if people would share their experiences. I never experienced it and would like to learn about what it entailed.

So long long time since I have been around but decided to pop myself back into the game.. Some of you may remember me from the Guidesforum days which got renamed SouthParks... wow must be 8 years ago since then.. but anyway my reason for being back is recently back in the Merlin company was working with back in the Tussuads days at Thorpe Park 2007.. On topic now I've been hearing a lot of chit chat regarding Loggars Leap scrapped for good reasons stateing Maintenance costs too high and general health and safety concerns for unstable grounds.. The railway I believe will be dug up and completely dismantled its obsolete now to be honest and the Rocky Express to…

The Bear Hunt which opened on Saturday is a look out for bears through the Canadian Rockies.. so what do you think of the Canada Creek alterations and the attraction itself?I thought it was bloody excellent and Tussauds first real attempt at theming at the park since Tidal Wave. Considering it seemed to be a last minute thing, it's really been pulled of nicely. Its a bit short but considering its using something that otherwise would have been left blank its a great little ride that Families will enjoy.

I visited Thorpe Park many times as a child and got my first job there in 1995, working in the Crown and Anchor pub in the Dome (Mountbatten Pavillion). At that time it was decorated with wooden panels "...375 years old with a musket ball in one of them..." The rumour was that there was an old manor house on the site that was pulled down and the linens saved before the quarry started. In this shakey rumour, the musket ball was fired when soldiers came to arrest someone - the first missed and the second got the target. It was highlighted by a circle with cross bones at the top. I've done a lot of research and, although the M25 and M3 resulted in a lot of historic building…
